The flower department Florist, Anna, is amazing!! I went in before work today and she's busy already. I asked for help, she greeted me nicely, helped me pick a vase within my budget, and helped me arranged my flowers free of charge!! I'm so thankful of her, who brightens my day.

I moved to IL recently and would only shop at Costco and Jewel Osco, but thankfully I found Mariano's. We don't have Mariano's back where I'm from, but from the outside and first walk around, it felt like a Whole Foods. Mariano's has a small bar with two TV's where you can watch games (so cool), ready to eat food, PLANT SECTION!!!, and more. I was expecting to pay Whole Foods prices but Mariano's is cheaper, surprisingly! Costco is awesome but obviously you'd need to buy in bulk. I've found prices at Mariano's have consistently been cheaper or equal than the items I buy from Jewel Osco. They have a lot of sales so keep an eye out. There is a beauuuutiful plant area with a variety of items: succulents, fiddle leaf figs, tineke, orchids and more. I got so so lucky and found this 5" stromanthe triostar with a lot of variegation!!! Can't forget to mention, the employees here are always so kind and helpful. Thank you. If you need a change up or feeling adventurous, give Mariano's a try for your next grocery trip!

After the horrible snowstorm, we truly had no food in the house, so in the cold we wound up at Jewel (the closest grocery). They do not have much organic produce or many vegan/natural foods. Jewel is really overpriced and they force you to buy two of almost everything to receive any kind of a discount. Mostly senior citizens working as cashiers, and I wish that they got stools to sit on like the cashiers at Aldi. I am not a senior and I would probably be sore, achy and cranky after standing on my feet all day. They have also eliminated the baggers and the cashiers have to do it, and I doubt that they are receiving higher pay for it. We really did not buy that much, and after all the discounts the total was $66. I do not specifically have a problem with Jewel, my heart just goes out to the employees and customers who are struggling with high grocery prices these days.

Moldy, spoiled, rotten and just overall poor quality. If there is not visible mold, it is seconds away from going off or just tastes like it's been sitting out for weeks. The employees are always nice, I never had an issue with that. If you purchase through the app they usually give you a refund but if you buy in store you have to physically bring the moldy food back to the store which is crazy. Jewel please get this figured out. We would love to shop there as it is our close, convenient neighborhood grocery store.

She has a Ph.d. in South Asian history and speaks Sinhalese and Tamil, but the small town Michigan White upbringing makes her avoid conflict at all costs in any language. She knows we eat dal with rice. The people working at this store take advantage of her. Any South Asian knows we need rice or naan to eat dal, but they sold her dal at full price and said they have no rice and instead sold her a full price biryani. $50 order of Indian food and no plain rice or bread! She does know better, but didn't have it in her to make a scene. If this were one of my cousins, they would have scolded and shamed the scoundrels into including both the rice and naan and a discount. It's not a language problem, in English, Hindi, Malayalam, or Urdu, dal needs rice. This was not an isolated one-off. The food is good and it is very convenient in location as my wife can pick up on her way home from work on nights I can't cook. Many times something is missing we've been charged for. Up until now I thought maybe they were just careless but we never get more than we ordered or something different than we order it's always a short change. Uchakka. Vanchanikaya. Mosakkaran. My husband shops there at least three times a week, which says a lot about how much we've relied on it over the years. We genuinely like this store, but lately we've noticed a decline in the quality of the produce. Things like tomatoes appearing shriveled or, at times, even moldy. It's disappointing, especially for a place we trust for everyday shopping. I also attempted to place an order for Easter dinner, something we've done many times in the past. Prices have increased quite a bit, so this year I decided to keep it simple and order just the lamb. The online system didn't allow me to select the date I needed, so I called for help. That's where things became frustrating. I spoke with Chef Jose, and communication was difficult. I asked if he spoke Spanish, since it's my native language and I thought it might help. His response felt dismissive, mentioning he speaks Italian and other things, but the interaction itself came across as borderline rude and unhelpful. That impression was later echoed by the front desk, who suggested I contact another chef. Chef Doug, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. Even though we played a bit of phone tag, he consistently followed up with a helpful and kind attitude, which I truly appreciated. Overall, this is still a market we want to love. It has been part of our routine and community. But between the recent produce issues and inconsistent customer service, it has been a bit disappointing compared to what it once was. I'm hopeful they find their way back to the quality and warmth that made them our favorite local market in the first place. BTW, one must place the order all the way to the paying screen to be able to select the desire pick up date.
