We had become quite disheartened by the time we crossed paths with Mariana. We had worked with two very seasoned agents that had neither interest nor enthusiasm, and we had no home to show for it, despite months of effort. A dear friend recommend Mariana to us. In this market, there are plenty of realtors to choose from. Mariana shines above the rest in a few ways throughout the whole process, before and after purchase: her ability to easily connect socially + be remembered favorably and then her connections with other professional services. For two slightly antisocial people, having friendly & sociable Mariana as our representative to the real estate world was very beneficial. We saw how important this point was when the sellers/agents remembered Mariana, liked our letter, and so spent more time considering our offers (despite not being the highest offer). STRATEGY: Every bid felt like a nauseous wild adventure but Mariana guided and assured us that these feelings (nausea, regret, doubt, etc) were normal. We did our own thorough research and market growth analysis for every house and so we did not trust the ridiculous estimates. She advised that despite our calculations, we could not offer market price and expect to win; we'd have to bid ahead of the curve a little bit to have our accepted this ultra competitive market. She was right but we were hesitant, of course. Mariana patiently went through the motions to entertain us by submitting the offer terms we requested for multiple houses. For the last offer, she called with a reality check message that we needed to stop playing games otherwise we'd be priced out of the market. I had a highly positive experience with Mariana for all the stages of the buying process. Though she works primarily on the peninsula and I was looking for a place on the coast, she immediately came up to speed regarding local properties and established contacts with selling agents. By chance, she also had a good working relationship with my loan agent which facilitated my loan approval. She quickly picked up on what was important to me and selected visits that were appropriate. I found a place I was very happy with and made it clear that I wanted to pursue it aggressively which meant we had to move very quickly. That's where her process expertise kicked in. She really has it all down and having a relationship with the loan agent helped smooth the process. This was our 2nd purchase in the Bay Area and after having a REALLY bad experience with our first agent, we were very hesitant to get back in the crazy Bay Area real estate game at all, and therefore would just browse open houses on our own.
