Mariachi Sol Mixteco - Birthday Party! Mariachi Sol Mixteco - Performing Arts Near Me

My cohortmates and I wanted to surprise someone w a little mariachi serenade for his 21st birthday. We found this business offering a virtual zoom serenade for 2 songs, played by 2 mariachi members in full uniform for $80. Their website and appointment system was clear and easy to navigate, and I noticed I had to be careful during booking cause they are going by east coast time and we were on the west coast. I was a little worried about the lack of positive yelp reviews, the fact that they need payment in full, and given the mariachi band surprise was going to be through a zoom link, it would be pretty easy to take the payment and not show up. I reached out to express my concerns and Mariela was very communicative and reassuring. I also asked for a text to confirm an hour before their scheduled time that everything would be good to go. She said, "Hi Connie,  We received the payment. We will text before connecting, no problem.  As per the reviews, we been in the industry for 10yrs having up to 20 events in a weekend during the busy season, unfortunately people are more inclined to leave many bad reviews for a mistake or a missed service caused for extreme bad situations where is out of our control or where we are involved in accidents. We always make it up to our clients or come up with a solution, but it's not mention after the fact. Versus leaving one good review for every 50 events of great service. It's a reality many businesses have now days." I appreciated her detailed response and it made me feel more at ease as a customer. Come the day of, true to their word I received a text 1 hr before confirming they were good to go. And they showed up on time. What also made me happy was they were very nice and accommodating as well. They typically give you a zoom link to click on during the appt time, but in our case I requested they enter our zoom link bc there were 20+ of us all connecting from home. They said 'no prob'. I also asked if they could mix in our birthday boy's name in a song or message and they said also said 'sure' and gave a short intro saying 'this song is for ____ from your friends and we'd all like to wish you a HBD'. It sounds small but its a nice personalized touch that makes things a little more special, esp during covid. I took off a star just cause I felt it was a bit pricey for 2 songs time and esp given everything was done virtually. But I still had a good experience. Thanks for the mariachi service! It was my first time and you guys were great, everyone loved it :) read more

Paid deposit weeks before. Told them the date. Booked. Followed up the day before the event. No communication and then a no-show. They refunded after being called. But really wish they had turned up. read more

This past Mother's Day my cousin planned a beautiful party for my Aunts including a Mariachi band. She reserved the band and put down a deposit over a month ago. My Aunts always wanted a Mariachi and on Mother's Day the band was scheduled to arrive at 4:00, and we understood that they maybe late due to the holiday but 5:30,6:30,7:30 and they never showed up. We called and called and no response back with and update. Quite upsetting to everyone when that was their gift on their special day. Finally we get a text saying we're not respecting their time? What? Your in the service industry and made a commitment. Very unprofessional, the band should know how many events they can handle and not over book. Don't not recommend and find a reliable band to hire for your special event. read more

Do not book. I hired a Mariachi band for an event last night and they never showed. I called to see what was going on and the person I spoke to didn't know why they weren't there. After finally getting in touch with the band, I was told that "their car was broken into" and that they would be there in 40 minutes. Over 2 hours later then scheduled. They did not reach out to tell me what was happening and when I asked why I wasn't contacted I was told "the band didn't let her know". If I didn't call would I have not been contacted? Very unprofessional and clearly a lot of communication issues. After seeing multiple similar reviews and experiences, I would highly recommend NOT to book them. read more

Never showed up. One of those moments when you realize you should have checked yelp before hiring someone. As with others, I paid a deposit, scheduled them for a really important life event (50th birthday!), and they simply didn't show up, didn't text or call or write, and then ghosted me and never returned my deposit. We had a great party, so we're fine: but what kind of person does this to people on the biggest days of their lives? It's really astounding. I guess the answer is Mariela Navarro, since that's who initially scheduled and then ghosted us. Bizarre. read more

So disappointing. Booked this groups for a surprise birthday party. They texted that they were stuck in traffic. 2 hours later. No show, no communication after the initial text. 3 hours go by, multiple texts sent and phone calls made, no answer. Final text, " sorry they won't be able to make it, will refund your money." After having a confirmation with them, I find this very unprofessional. They didn't make proper scheduling of their time and left us without entertainment on a special day. Please don't book these people. read more

I have mixed feelings about there performance at my mother in laws birthday party. I reached out to them a few days in advance to ask about songs we wanted them to sing but they never got back to me. Then I called the day of and none of the songs that we wanted were in their collection. They did show up early which was good and did an ok job at the party even though we didn't know any of the songs played. Anyway, thank you for the service but we will not hire again. read more

Mariachi Sol Mixteco was recommended to us by a friend and they were phenomenal. They were on time, they took song requests, they were professional and the performance was heartfelt. They also communicated well before and after the event. They really elevated our party with their music. Thanks! read more

Do NOT book. Hired them for a fundraiser. They never called to confirm, so I called them. She asked day of my event if she could start earlier. To which I said no, because my event DIDNT START AT THAT TIME. She seemed pissed off and then they NEVER showed up. Absolute sham business. Looks like others have experienced the same. read more

Made a reservation for my grandma's 83rd birthday. She's always wanted a mariachi band for her birthday and thanks to this band, she won't be getting one this year! The band never showed up. Texted them several times and they mentioned they were running late. They kept pushing the time and eventually just stopped answering us and our messages. Do NOT use a group that does not keep their end of the business. read more

What a nightmare!!!!! We booked them to perform from 6:30-7:30 and they NEVER SHOWED UP!!!!! We tried to contact them all day starting at 9 am (texting, calling, etc) to confirm and they didn't answer back until 7!! At that point they said they were having car trouble and would show up later, but never gave a time... THEY NEVER SHOWED!!!! We had an entire party waiting for them & it was a surprise for the birthday girl... DO NOT BOOK THEM FOR YOUR PARTY!!!!! They are not professional AT ALL!!!!!!!!!! A complete disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

The never showed up. Very unprofessional and so disappointing. I paid a very pricey deposit. Mariela (the owner) does not answer my calls anymore about refunding the deposit. Do not use. They never show. read more

DO NOT USE this service unless you are into unreliable, poor, dismissive and irresponsible companies. Excuses and Justifications for cancelling our booking hiring out the group to another event with zero communication to confirm any questions They may have had...Customer service person was so awful clearly not willing to be responsible for her absolute lack of integrity blaming it on us instead. They didn't show up for my mother in laws 85th birthday without any communication the entire family came to town to celebrate and this company were no shows. there are other services you can use. stay away from this one. read more

Thank you for making my son's 30th birthday celebration a success. A great time was had by all!

This group performed for a family party a few months ago! They were such a great group. Extremely talented and they were so much fun. They played all the songs we requested and had such great enthusiasm. We could definitely want them back for a family party! read more

I emailed with them beginning 4 months ago requesting Cinco de Mayo for a special event, and they NEVER SHOWED! We had a 300 person gala, that they didn't even bother to show up to after they verbally confirmed with me earlier in the week! Such a disappointment! I would NEVER recommend working with this group ever. I never write reviews, but this was blatant poor management and unreliability. Such a joke! If I could give 0 stars I would! read more

We hired this mariachi band to play at my grandmother's 83rd birthday and they NEVER showed up! We called, text, left messages and they finally got back to us 15 min after the time they were scheduled to be here with an excuse of car trouble. They said they can come later but no time was given. We were so disappointed. read more
