The cons: they didn't have any of the songs we wanted. When we spoke to them a week before the wedding we told them what we wanted. They said they had most of them. On the day of the wedding we wanted to change a few things. DJs these days have access to every song ever made due to the internet. They either didn't have it or couldn't find it. The timeline wasn't follows at all. First dances, father/daughter dad and Stepmother/ daughters, toast, etc. we had to tell them when even though they had a written timeline. The worst of all was that they constantly advertised their service. Not very classy at a wedding.

When he was with the trio, he played with a pianist and a bass player. All three sounded great together. I see that Scott Kacenga Music is listed under wedding planning--but I didn't see him play at a wedding. Although, I'm sure Scott's performance would serve as a nice addition to any formal/informal wedding.

The owner of the…read morebusiness, Bill Boettcher, told me less than 48 hours before my event that he would be sending a substitute when all along I was told it would be he at my event. All during the time before my event he was extremely difficult to reach but I let it go because my primary music was to be through the live band, who was fantastic. But there were reasons I also wanted a DJ and my reasons turned out to be valid. The DJ Bill ultimately sent was ok. the music was fine and really there was nothing in particular I needed to have the DJ do or to discuss with him so no complaints. But the motivator, as sweet as could be, did not seem to know her job. I had to tell her when to give out items and if I hadn't told her we would still be waiting. Only during the last hour did she do any kind of interaction with the kids. There were no games as I had been told there would be and items that were specifically ordered for my event, I never saw. All of this didn't leave me thrilled, but the worst was that I wrote to Bill after the event and let him know I just wanted to talk to him. I wasn't going to make too big a deal of it but I thought maybe the motivator was new and simply needed some guidance. I didn't hear back for a week and when I wrote again, I received a rather rude response admonishing me for not being more patient. He didn't like some of what I wrote in my second e-mail (which did indicate I was upset he hadn't responded yet)and indicated that was the only reason he was responding despite being so busy. Had he only written originally and asked me to wait until things quieted down I wouldn't be writing this. But he stated right out that he only responded to me because something upset him. Yet he didn't feel it important enough to answer me when I was upset, didn't feel it important enough to make sure things had gone well, and overall didn't think it important enough to provide good customer service. I don't know if things would have been better with a different motivator and if the owner had done my event, as originally planned. But he (Bill, the owner) is extremely difficult to reach when things are going well, and pretty much not at all unless he feels it is important. I would not use this company again.

Michael and his entire team at Lightning Shakes NY facilitated an outstanding Bar Mitzvah!…read moreMany of our guests couldn't believe it was a Sunday afternoon affair. It had the look and feel and energy level of a Saturday night party. Michael's dance team was amazing. Our guests are still talking about it. We added a saxophone player and drummer as well. Michael was referred to us by a friend at our temple and he did not disappoint. We liked the fact that included in his price were games during the cocktail hour. The only extra was the pop-a-shot and his crew had it set up for the cocktail hour and then seemlessly broke it down and reconfigured it in the main room in advance of the main doors opening. We used his photo booth as well, which was a lot of fun. We didn't want to do frames and he was able to get us vinyl sleeves and tassels so the pictures can be placed in the sleeves and it became a bookmark. Our venue had built in lighting so we used the venue's lighting; however, you can use Michael as a one stop shop for lighting, video, photography and more. I selected 20 songs in advance, I didn't keep track but the DJ knew exactly what was current and the music and flow was excellent. We also did a trivia game suggested by Michael. He provided a very good checklist as well. We recommend Michael and his team for your next affair, you will be very pleased!

The dance floor was filled the whole time and everyone loved it, even the older adults. And so many of my friends (whose children are younger) commented that you were a perfect MC, really smooth, (not at all in your face aggressive, which they don't like,), great with the kids, had so many great games/dance games/ideas throughout the entire party and made it fun for the full 4 hours! and that Lightning Photo Booth was the BIGGEST HIT!!!
