Before finalizing payment, I simply asked to see a sample of her work, which is a reasonable request when hiring someone for resume services. Instead of responding professionally, she abruptly told me we weren't a good match and refused to continue helping me. In addition, During our communication, she also mentioned that I was asking the same questions, but I was only reiterating to make sure I understood everything clearly before paying. Fern doesn't live in my area, so communication was difficult -- she often didn't get back to me right away, and her process appears to take around three weeks to complete a resume after payment. I found her response rude and unprofessional, especially after I had already spent time communicating and providing my background. When paying several hundred dollars upfront, I think it's fair to expect transparency, courtesy, and timely communication. There are plenty of other career counseling services that charge far less and offer a much faster turnaround time. I even found one that includes a cover letter for just $220 -- much more reasonable than $335.

I have recommended Fern Selesnick Consulting to my clients for over 20 years and consistently receive excellent feedback about her writing skills, career expertise, kindness, and professionalism. Because of this, I also refer Fern's work to a large group of psychotherapists seeking similar services for their clients. I also confer with Fern about tools for helping people decide on career directions and have found her knowledge to be immensely helpful to my ongoing work. One client in particular was struggling to return to work but had not had a paid position in many years. They truly felt hopeless. Fern created an excellent resume that built on their limited jobs by adding their related volunteer work and life experience. She also provided support that boosted my client's self-esteem and motivation. After submitting the resume, my client received multiple interviews and was hired for an entry-level position in a field with room to advance. They shared the resume with me, and I was amazed at the ways in which Fern had extracted my client's qualifications and strengths. Fern is highly skilled, professional, and compassionate and consistently goes over and above client's expectations. She also has a great sense of humor and is a pleasure to work with. I am happy to recommend her services to anyone seeking a resume and career guidance from the best.

First of all, we did a developmental edit on a manuscript of mine, and she helped me see where the manuscript diverged from its original purpose and needed to be reworked. Following that, I became a book coaching client of hers for the reworking. For these projects, Angelle was both factual and compassionate, realizing my attachment to the work. She helped me grow as a writer and on this manuscript, specifically, to find its purpose and stick to it. The book coaching exercises were easy to follow and her feedback was thorough and helpful. I definitely feel like I got a better revision with her help than my original manuscript. Later, I worked with Angelle on a query letter revision, synopsis and a first-25 page submission edit. Again, the experience was a pleasure and Angelle used her expertise to help me think critically about what my story was about and how to get the attention I was looking for. Helping me reframe my "pitch" was very much worthwhile as I used the knowledge gained from her too present my idea to an agent and it landed me a request for pages. While the story concept was 100% mine, Angelle was able to see what I was going or and coach me on the wording as well as trim the superfluous information. I definitely plan to work with Angelle in the future for editing or querying needs. Thank you!
