Somewhat of a complicated affair for reviewing a primary care physician, so let me break it down:…read more The Physician: Elder, about 50-60 years old, polish or german descent, short stature. Pleasant, to the point, intelligent, always busy. Very well accredited, lots of current awards adorn the walls. Excellent blood drawing technique. Expertise and focus in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. The Clientele: Elderly to the very elderly and almost disabled. Predominantly white, probably more upscale based on the area. The Facilities: It basically looks like someone's house. Parking is on gravel with about 6-7 spots available (never that busy). The inside is very cramped and close-quarters, but functional as an office. Bathroom is available with a key. Seating room has space for about 10-12 cramped. The Staff: The lady at the front desk is somewhat unfriendly, unprofessional, and not someone you'd like to start a conversation with. Her alone makes me second guess wanting to go to this place. The nurses and surrounding staff are fast, friendly, and efficient. The Equipment and Processing: Because Dr. Mentakis has a background in cardiovascular disease, checkups include additional tests (full body EKG, ultrasound, pulmonary, etc.) that put me $125 over what my company health plan reimburses for an annual checkup. The equipment is newer and the staff is well trained on it, but the costs creep up quickly. Overall, I'm happy with his level of expertise and the way he conducts his business, I think if he were more up-front about the costs and replaced the front desk secretary, I'd enjoy coming here.

I'm only giving two stars because the first visit was o.k. Regarding the second visit in December…read moreof 2017 I arrived a few minutes early to a long scheduled 11:30 a.m. appointment. After waiting 30 minutes past the appointment time I approached the counter to ask how much longer the wait would be. I was casually told another 20 minutes which would have amounted to a total wait time of at least 50 minutes. Equally as troubling as the total wait time was the fact that at no time during the first 30 minutes of my wait was my extended wait even acknowledged with an explanation or apology. Furthermore, when I finally inquired and was told about another 20 minutes, there was still no apology or even vague explanation as to why I would have to wait nearly an hour when I was the only one sitting in the waiting room. I received nothing more than an eye roll and shrug of the shoulders. I do understand the complexities of health care make it difficult to keep all appointments on time and to the minute in all circumstances. Waits happen. However, I can't think of one legitimate reason that would justify a 50 minute wait time in an internal medicine office without, at minimum, advising the waiting patients of such a massive delay when I was the only person sitting in the entire waiting room. This was compounded by the fact that when I asked about my wait at the 30 minute mark the assistant seemed to look on the computer as if to be able to determine with certainty that it would be at least another 20 minutes. This would make it appear as if I was just scheduled later than I was told. The wait time was bad enough. Even if there were a valid reason, which I find highly unlikely, the lack of basic acknowledgement of the wait for the first 30 minutes, and no explanation or apology after being informed that it would be another 20 minutes on top of that, was rude, obnoxious and disrespectful. It's evident to me the office lacks a basic level of common courtesy and respect to patients if something like this is a common occurrence.
