Pearl Kai Dentistry failed to display a breakdown of treatments that I would need, and cost expenses prior to performing procedures, which is unethical practice. Gale Marana claimed to have done 12 fillings in total, which I didn't even know I needed considering I have nice teeth. After visit, I was forced to pay $548.30 out of pocket before leaving the office. This dentist drained me of all my INSURANCE MONEY and them some, in just one visit. MILITARY FAMILIES BEWARE!! After incident, I contacted the BBB and my TRICARE insurance about the situation. Come to find out she over charged me $232.34. This is not even the half of it. I am still dealing with this matter at hand. Thank god, I got that money back. But still, if I didn't reach out to my insurance company, who knows if I would have got that money back. I have attached pictures to show I had nice teeth to begin with. This experience has been a nightmare for me. This dentist is MONEY HUNGRY. Dr Gale is very calming and steady in her work that I my streak of non numbing finally came at my last appointment. A deep filling cracked and this was a chance to repair with new composite material, but numbing was required. She cares to keep all discomfort out of the experience. I resisted at first and negotiated the '...promise to brush better for next time..' option, but in went the pre numbing applicator. What I thought would be a second dose of applicator, she said that was not bad right? I asked if she would still be doing the shot....and Dr said, It's done already. I guess in my checking my arm position to raise for pain and settling deeper in the chair, it was not felt at all. The repair went well, no shocks or surprises, pretty much doze off a few times since I was so relaxed and not flinching my eyebrows. That's the best numbing experience ever, now I may just get it anyway. I'm so confident and trusting with Dr Marana's recommendations for treatment and you should too. We took the flight anyway and upon landing I randomly called a dentist, who himself recommended Dr. Kashiwada. He took us in immediately though he was otherwise booked. His care, compassion, obvious skill, and amazing follow-up, was unique in all my nearly seven decades. He is a clinician. He is an expert, on licensing boards, and it is a delight to be in his caring company. He allows you to enjoy a dental visit! We had never met him but immediately felt as though he had been our dentist for decades. He called us several times to be sure we could enjoy our time in Hawaii without concern for the tooth that he skillfully repaired and was our Guardian Angel. We never expected so skillful, so kind and caring, and so wise a practitioner, as we were simple transient visitors. So, how do you define a hero? Visit Dr. Kashiwada and see.

From the time he was just helping out, until the time he took over, he has been a calm and quite entertaining dentist during various procedures. Carissa is the sweetest "do everything that he isn't doing" staff member, that I don't even know her real "title". (She followed him with the practice, thank you, Dr Ahn!) They provide estimates based on what your needs are and you decide what's best for you. I just had three (3!) crowns placed and honestly, you can't tell, they look great. (I was duly treated in advance to avoid discomfort.) If you strongly dislike dentists like me, this might be a good practice to check out. They listen to your concerns and work with you to determine what's best, and to make sure you are comfortable with your procedures. I'm actually really torn about how to review this dental office. I first called to inquire about a…read moretooth extraction. I had a tooth that was giving me a horrible amount of pain and I knew I needed it out but it took awhile to get insurance. Once I had it I called all over the place looking for a clinic that would take it. I was so relieved when I found L.F.D. I was impressed with how quickly he got me into the office. He was quickly able to identify the problem and explained he would perform a root canal but wasn't sure if he could save the tooth but he would do his best, which was all I could ask for. The first part of the root canal went great, he explained what he was going to do and I appreciated that. I was however a little off-put when I mentioned having a previous bad experience with a dentist, which is why I was so nervous and his immediate response was "I'm not going to be your dentist." But at least he was fixing my tooth so it was what it was. I was also a little out off by the fact that he immediately mentioned that with the insurance he was getting paid 1/3 of what he normally would. The 2nd part of the root canal he scheduled for a week later, which was quick and I liked that but again was a little off put that he didn't bother to ask if the day worked for me surrounding a work schedule. I showed up for my second appointment and he attempted to finish the root canal but had to stop when he said the tooth had a crack and he wasn't able to save it. I signed the form for a extraction, I have had my wisdom teeth out and 2 others previously so I'm no stranger to them but HOLY CRAP, I was NOT prepared for how that was handled at all. He told me I would feel a pressure and hear a snap sound, so I braced myself for that but when I say he jerked my head all over the place, that would be an understatement. The closest thing I can compare it to was playing with a rope and your dog in the yard. There were a few points where I actually could feel the pain and thought I made it more than obvious by the way my legs shot up, my hands grabbed the arm rests, the noises that came out of my mouth and how badly I was shaking but apparently that was lost on both him and his assistant because all he kept saying was "almost done, you're gonna feel pressure." When the tooth was finally out and the cause was placed my mouth was filling with blood, I had blood drops on my sweatshirt, the bib they clip to you was covered in blood, I had blood on both my hands. The assistant gave me the suction to hold in my mouth and for the 5 minutes I sat there literally all I saw in the tube was red. I was still uncontrollably shaking when he told me the medicine he would provide. I went to the lobby and waited for my prescription and it took everything in me to stop myself from crying. I'll circle back around to the fact that over all he did stop the pain I was experiencing and with my insurance it didn't cost anything which I am beyond thankful for because everyone knows a simple dental procedure can reck you if you don't have the proper insurance. I appreciate how he handled the beginning of the root canal and would have given this clinic an 8 out of 10 just because I was slightly put off in the beginning but over all this was BY FAR the most traumatizing dental experience I have ever experienced. Absolutely none of my other extractions, cavity fillings or root canals could even hold a candle to what I just experienced. I really really really wanted to like this guy but overall if you need an extraction, 10 out of 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.
