The Japanese Rock Garden along Lake Eola contains a 12.5 ton and 19,5 foot long piece of black marble donated by Su-Nan Chong, Mayor of Tainan, Taiwan. The rock was given in 1983 as a gift of friendship between the sister cities of Tainan and Orlando. The marble is said to have been discovered in the mountains in Hua-Lien at an altitude of 1,600 meters and was sculpted by wind over 10,000 years. The Mayor requested the following to be inscribed on the stone. "Loyal To Country Filial To Parents." When the rock was delivered Orlando it was requested to be placed "in your great Walt Disney World". Disney World however is not in Orlando and Disney declined the gift leaving Orlando to figure out what to do with it. While waiting for permanent placement it was called the Mayor's pet rock. When Lake Eola Park was renovated in 1988, the Japanese Rock Garden was created and the rock finally had a home. Today you can see the famous rock and take pictures on the pretty bridge. The story of the marble has become a quirky part of Lake Eola history.

Overall, it's a small space but the escape rooms really make the most of the area. Our game master, Rule, was very helpful and made our experience even more enjoyable. Our favorite of the two rooms we played was Haunted Hotel, and we're looking forward to coming back to play Mountain Top.

As we got close to the district we realized that this wasn't just a small event considering many streets were shut down and policed. We had to park a couple blocks away and walk. We originally made a plan to make a quick stop, check out the local goods, and maybe go to a mall after, but after arriving we realized that it wasn't going to be short. We started at sideward brewing, grabbed some drinks and made our way across the mart. This massive mart had 300 local vendors, water at every quadrant with live music, food tents/trucks, and beer tents. We found a few custom items to buy which were incredible. Only took us three hours and 3 beers to get through the whole thing. Overall, this was so much more than I anticipated, in a good way. This little community has such a good vibe, with good food, and good people. It's so great to see an event of this magnitude come together every quarter to share its hospitality. Can't wait till the next one to see what they have to offer.

I finally decided on a date . I then sent her my design and it was approved to use. My class was at 12pm on Sunday the 17th and it took about 2 &1/2 hrs to get finish my design . I will say it started off ruff for me trying to grasp the instructions but, once I did I was able to navigate the design . The advise they give is to " Trust the Process" & I can't stress that enough ! After you're done she'll email you once the rug is ready to be picked up . It still has to be trimmed etc. This was an Amazing activity to do solo , for a date night or even as a group . You can also do this family style with the kids. I'll def be back . I def feel like you get your value you paid . The shop is very cute and I look forward to trying some other designs. They will be offering new services this summer like creating a stool design etc so def keep your eye out for updates.
