This is the iconic spot to get those delicious pastel de natas!…read more Of course, you will come across these famous desserts all over, but I'm honestly so glad that I held out for a day or two until I could try these. They were seriously so good! And it sort of made my first bite more of a whole experience. Yes, the line here can be a bit long. But again, I think in a way it sort of added to the fun/overall experience of it. Considering the popularity, I don't think the wait was too terrible. Would I come here every day or every time I wanted pastel de nata? No. There are countless other spots that are amazing too! But I feel like this one was worth it once! The nata came out nice and warm, with a creamy flavor, a fluffy but firm texture, and a caramelized sweetness with bit with that hint of eggy savory-sweetness, too. The crust was flakey. I decided to eat inside and I also feel happy with that choice. The decor was cute and very "Lisbon"- lots of blues and whites. I also ordered a latte which was nice and had whipped cream with cinnamon, which paired really nicely with the nata actually.

This is the birthplace of the delicacy Portuguese custard tart (pasteis de nata). While you can…read morefind find these tarts all over Portugal, this is a must try when you visit The exterior is slightly modest, but is also absolutely gorgeous. It's well-lit, and something about it beacons you over. Maybe it's the line stretched out the door. The interior has beautiful blue and white tiles. The staff are all busy preparing tarts, helping customers, etc. I don't know why, but it feels like a shop right out of Harry Potter with the colors and almost antique beauty. The staff are dressed in dapper uniforms. Each person has an air of serious, yet charming, and sophisticated. For a place that pretty much has the same routine all day and services thousands of Hungary and demanding tourists, the staff were friendly enough, and very efficient The packaging was gorgeous. Again, it reminded me of a delicacy or to-go parcel you might get in the wizarding world. The tarts were delicious. I tried several egg/custard tarts in Portugal, and this is one of the best. While at least one of location in Sintra has my #1 pasteis de nata, this one is probably a close second You can order a variety of sizes/amounts, and the carry fairly well. There are also other treats like cakes, hot chocolate, etc Some tips: They have cinnamon and sugar you can put on top of your tart if you want to add to the flavor You B don't have to takeaway, and in fact it might be quicker service if you walk past the initial line and counter and head into the restaurant where you might be able to snag a table and eat your tarts on site Located near a couple incredible Lisbon landmarks you will want plenty of time to stroll around Belém and see the sites. It's a vibe, and a must do in Lisbon Cheers!!

They spoke English (not expected, but pleasant break for our Google Translate app) and offered to-go cups/containers, which was great for our continued adventures. Inside was cozy and had window reading nooks, a few couches and chairs, and a designated area for those with computers to sit. Fun signage and a covered glass enclosure showing off all of their amazing baked goods. Our cold brews with oat milk were smooth and delicious and the croissant with scrambled egg sandwiches were huge (2 meals for me) and the eggs cooked to perfection. Prices were a tad higher than what we've had in Portugal thus far at mom and pop cafes, but still less than in the USA.

I got their salad bar plus and Americano. The prices were very reasonable. If I wasn't so stuffed from all the food I had before coming here, I definitely would've gotten one of their buns. The only apprehension I have about working here again is the lack of plugs. Although I did see the staff offer to pull out extension cords for other customers. Great service, food, drinks, and ambiance. Can't wait to come back here when I'm in Lisbon again.
