When Adriana lead us to the back room, she didn't even ask what service we wanted. She just straight up told us that she's going to do a psychic reading, which I know it's more expensive than the palm reading. Let me tell you--she really tried to MILK us soooooooo bad. AHAHAHAHAHA it felt like we were in a movie because it felt so cliché to be scammed like this. XD I told her that we didn't want that because we only wanted the palm reading, and she tried to tell us that it's $60 for one palm. ONE PALM. She said that she'll charge us $40, and I wanted to make sure that it was 2 palms. She said yes to that, but she also added how the only palm that matters is the right palm... okay? Lol Anyways.. My friend and I sat down. Adriana asked us to write our names along with our date of birth down on this scratch paper that was torn off from a notebook with other writings on it already. She asked us where we worked. She read my friend's palm first, and it was such BS haha Adriana said my friend would meet her soulmate in the next 3 years and move to San Francisco and be in the medical field... Um my friend hates the medical field haha I'm pretty sure she just assumed that 'cause we're Asian! LOL For me, she said that I would live a long life too, that I was gonna meet someone in the next 6 months (around September/October). I've always been fascinated with psychic readings. There have been some that have really surprised…read moreme and I can't explain, but most unfortunately fall in line with what I experienced at Mrs Laurie's. Not that I'm all that surprised or disappointed, its interesting to note the techniques that they use. Over the past year, I've had a few readings from three different "psychics" at Mrs Laurie's. 1- None of them actually read the individual tarot cards. They won't read individual cards. I've received the same general reading each time I've been, no matter what cards were drawn. They basically ask what you do, where you're from, if you're single, your name...despite the big sign stating you don't have to say a thing, they know all. Then they throw out random attractive personality traits so you think they're describing you ie strong willed, loyal, etc. If you mention said sign and don't answer their questions, they will claim you're stubborn and strong willed and the reading will consist of a mini lecture on stubbornness and the need to be more flexible. 2- The palm reading constitutes of the exact same information as the tarot reading. It isn't an actual reading where they read the lines on your hand. 3- They then proceed to use a warm reading technique to make a generalized psychic reading. Meaning they make generalized statements that can apply to just about anyone, then they gauge your reactions and ask questions based on the direction you take them. Confirmation bias then makes it seem like they're getting more hits than misses. They then use a tactic called time-shifting whereby they encourage you to ask a detailed question and they answer it based on what they gleaned via the warm reading. 4- Then they proceed to ask if you live in Las Vegas. If you do, they use whatever question you asked to claim that you're in desperate need of a spiritual cleanse and consulting and offer to help you for between $200-$500. I've told them false problems on several occasions and they acted like they can read the situation and are picking up the psychic vibes and offered to resolve my problem within a few sessions.
