This rather charming shop is quietly nestled in a very old town looking business district within this pleasant little NE Wisconsin city ( US-41 Travelers; it's well worth jumping off the highway for!). Being the hopeless romantic, I slipped away from my group to check out the local fare. Stephanie and her faithful assistant ( daughter!) were more the welcoming next-door neighbor than local shopkeep. They took personal interest and joy in my search for a small token for my unaware beloved just outside the door. What this endearing little boutique lacks in outward visible size is more than compensated for in personal service, aviance, character and value. Functionally speaking, I found more than an adequate selection for my taste; with the hint that more may have been available in the back yet. Secret Gardens reminiscently took me back to both my hometown flower shop in lower Michigan, and the boutiques we visited while traveling with our native friends in Germany. In both cases, quantity and expanse, took a backseat to personal service, artistic excellence, and unsurpassed quality of product. There is no doubt in my mind, that if we were locals, Stephanie would find us as regular customers. For certain, if I have any floral needs in this neck of the woods - she will certainly be hearing from me again! From the early stages of communicating through the day of, Carly was very easy to work with --- super pleasant, communicative, adaptable, and clearly in sync with my design vision. I'll update this review when we get pics back to prove it, but the flowers Carly and her mom designed for us were so much more beautiful than I could have imagined possible. I initially gave these ladies a few words describing the mood of our wedding, answered a couple of questions about bouquets I did or didn't like, and voila --- the most beautiful floral pieces in exactly the right color scheme with just the right feeling appeared at my wedding venue. We received SO MANY compliments on the flowers. Even our photographer asked who did the very unique and beautiful flowers! Their selection is so vast, I could wander for hours and admire the wares. I had to pick up some Swedish Candy, of course, although the chocolates had to stay on the shelf due to the 100-degree heat outside. But Salty licorice and Bubs skulls came home with me. Delicious. I was most excited to find that they carry clothing. I bought a couple of dresses by Paapii, a Finnish brand. They make comfy dresses and tunics in all kinds of cute patterns. Everyone at the store was so friendly and willing to help out. The dressing room was occupied for a while, so they offered to let me try on my outfits in the ladies room instead. My haul ended up being quite pricey, but that is not Skal's fault. Their prices are rather reasonable in my opinion, I just...bought a lot of stuff. Be warned, you might too!

The clerks were kind and helpful, and it had that warm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger. The prices were very reasonable, considering we were in such a touristy area. I picked out a Christmas ornament as a souvenir, and I know I'll smile every time I hang it on the tree. Such a sweet little stop. Everyone should check them out if they are in Door County, WI!
