This was my first time in this Hotel, and I had a great experience in the hotel…read more The hotel is situated right next to the post office, where you can find post cards to send to family and friends. There is a COOP (equivalent to Safeway in USA) that has all of the essentials that you would need for food, as well as other various things including Makeup supplies, silverware, ready-to-eat meals, and fresh bread. The hotel is also located next to the "Engadin Bus" bus stop. The train station my be a little far to walk, because it is all uphill and with baggage that trek can be a little difficult, but luckily you can call the hotel and they will send someone to pick you up, or you can take the Engadin Bus to the "Post" stop and the hotel is right next door. The staff are extremely friendly. When you walk in the door to check in (Check-in is at 2PM or 14:00 as of 6/21/12) they give you your room key as well as a pass to go on all the cable cars, ski lifts, and funiculars in the area as well as some of the trains and all of the Engadine Buses. They also give you a map and information packet for all the skilifts that has important information about the hours of operation of the ski lifts in the area, and a timetable of the Engadine Buses. At the hotel, they have various amenities, such as a wellness center that has a sauna, steam bath, tanning bed, exercise room (exercise room is very small, there is only a bicycle machine and elliptical) and lawn chairs to rest in. In the wellness center they also provide you with a fruit drink, and some assorted fruits (it was apple and peaches while I was staying there). They also have a garden with lawn chairs and a table where you can have lunch along with some big umbrellas to keep you shielded from the sun. From the garden you have almost no view, all you can see is a highway and the river rapids that are right in front of the garden. The hotel also offers free W-Lan (Internet) from Swisscom, you must get a User name and Passcode form the front desk. There is also a restaurant and bakery on the bottom floor, I haven't tried the restaurant while I was staying there, but I know that you must wear formal attire when dining. I stayed in a Good Double Room (more information about the rooms and pricing @ http://www.albris.ch/en/hotel/Hotel-Rooms.html), it was very cozy. It had a TV, a full bathroom with a scale, two sinks, a bathtub, and came with all the toiletries that one would need. The bed was very comfortable with comfortable bedsheets. We had an operable window with views of the mountains and the lovely new parking garage that they are building. In the room you also have a cabinet with room for all of your belongings and a safe. (Caution: if you use the safe without leaving the door open, you will get charged a fee to reset the safe). There is also a desk with a desk lamp, a couple drawers, and complementary treats and water on a plate. The room comes with coat racks and a shoe rack. I would recommend to stay at this hotel is you are looking to stay for a couple days, or if you want to stay here for a couple weeks, it is really nice. However, if you are looking for something a little more upscale, then you should head over to the Hotel Walther that is right across the street. Important Information: - There is a deposit of CHF 10.- for each skilift pass - When you reserve ahead of time, they will send you a confirmation e-mail with all the information for you to review, but you must respond to that e-mail to tell them that you confirm that you are going to be at the hotel for those nights, and that all of the information is correct.

We stayed at the Badrutt's Palace as part of my milestone birthday plans with my girlfriends…read more I'm sad to say, Badrutt's Palace turned out to be the biggest disappointment of the trip. We spent about 7,500 CHF for two connecting rooms for two nights in the basic category rooms. And these are the reasons why I am giving the Badrutt's one star: - When we arrived, at about 330pm we were told one of our rooms were not ready, because of a 'technical issue'. The official check in time was 3pm. They told us to expect the room to be ready by 530pm. Meanwhile, they offered us "complimentary tea at the Grand Hall". - The complimentary tea turned out to be a frame of small bites that was too little for the three of us, so we ordered one club sandwich and also some water. We were charged for the sandwich and water which turned out to be 75CHF. - At 530pm we went up to check into the room that was ready, as the connecting one still wasn't ready yet. It turned out that the 'technical issue' were guests who hadn't checked out. I saw the service staff cramming clothes and belongings into bags while they tried to clear out the room. - The rooms were really small. This I had heard and I thought it was acceptable considering the location of the hotel. What I did not expect was the general shabbiness of the place. Furnishings looked worn and tired. And the carpet wasn't clean. I do my nightly stretches on the carpet, and found myself cheek to cheek to some dirt / soil. I was hoping that it came from the last guest in their hurry to check out and not some vintage dirt from winter 2022. - For the next two days, we found the staff generally distracted and too busy to attend to us, whether it be a request for a kettle, a charger, soft boil eggs at breakfast, water to the table or an ice pack. Things either never materialized or you needed to remind them three times before they arrived. - On the last day of our stay, I encountered a small crash on the slopes and tore my ACL. After making it back to the hotel, I called the front office to inform them about the injury, and potential need for alternative arrangements for dinner. Their reply was, "There will be a cancellation policy of 200CHF per person if you decide to cancel dinner" - I wasn't prepared to pay 600CHF for no dinner and to mooch in a small room so I said I will go ahead with dinner, but could I please have a wheelchair to bring me to dinner. They said, of course we will bring it up immediately. We waited 1.5 hours for the wheelchair which never materialized. Finally I hobbled to the front desk to find out they had "lost the wheelchair". I was puzzled why we were not informed any earlier. I feel extremely cheated out of what I thought was going to be a luxury experience. We are not un-used to paying high prices for 5-star accommodations but for this price, this level of service and general standards of the property are unacceptable.

I believe most rooms have a knockout view with french doors to let in the clean fresh air and the sound of the rushing stream outside. And the patio has gorgeous panoramic views. The rooms are clean, quiet, and spacious, though it was a but tight between the desk and the bed. There were plenty of modern wood storage drawers and cabinets. A coffee and tea station and minibar with waters, sodas, and juice though we didn't use them. It did not appear there was a charge. The bartenders are friendly and they make inspired cocktails. I tried the Moscow mule and instead of ginger beer, he diced fresh ginger into it. Delicious! There's a beautiful breakfast buffet with a choice of more than half a dozen honeys. Wines and bubblies are well stocked. Only draft blonde and amber beers. A luxurious pool that I did not get to try, and lovely grounds surrounding the hotel. They catered to families too with a playground and kids program during high seasons. There was a small hike from the train station but i believe you coukd use their transport van. Great area fir skiers or hikers. Loved it.

We arrived very late (2:30am) and the staff was accommodating our arrival ensuring that our keys and such were available for us. The rooms were great but the grounds, breakfast, staff, and catering to cyclists was the best. As we interacted with the staff we suspected they were family as they all clearly looked like sisters...and we were right. Family owned for quite some time and the care and attention to detail shows. The attitude of friendliness to us at every moment was very nice. The front grounds were amazingly kept and welcoming to just sit and enjoy the sun and conversation. For us it presented a great place for some après refreshments as we eased our sore legs. The hotel is perfectly located for cyclists. While we didn't partake in the promoted Stelvio Experience (we had arranged outer own courses for the 3 days) it did look like quite a good organization if you hadn't arranged a plan in advance. The hotel and Bormio are perfectly located for riding. We didn't use our car at all and were able to ride Stelvio, Gavia, Mortirolo and other areas with ease. The hotel itself caters to cyclists with an amazing secure bike room and all the tools you could need to give your ride a tune each day and wash afterwards. Really fantastic. And the laundry service for your cycling kit also was very welcome. The front desk also carries some gels and electrolytes for purchase if you need some. While we didn't partake in the restaurant for dinner, the breakfast was amazing. An array of very tasty options to please everyone. Coffee, latte, espresso machine accommodates those in your party who drink coffee. And if you don't there are plenty of other fresh fruit juices to enjoy. Fantastic breakfast to start the day. Totally would book here again if coming back (which I hear the skiing is amazing as well). Many thanks to the Andreola family and staff for their hospitality!! Grazie mille!
