A commendation to the barista at the Redcliffe franchise, as she know exactly how to make a coffee to my specification. She also does this without hesitation and with a big smile on her face. The store, especially on the weekend is pretty packed from the counter to the alfresco tables on the street. It's a place where many-tired parent can come, sit down and be ensured that there will be some sort of reward for themselves and their well-behaved children. If their children are obnoxious ratbags, at least they'll be something to stick in their mouth for a moment of quiet.

But our group of 4 were all in agreement that the taste of all 4 cakes was a let down. The chocolate mud cake was no better than any cheap packet mix. The apricot Danish had a synthetic tasting icing. Probably the best of all 4 were the berry and custard tarts. The staff are nice and nothing appears to be too difficult. The product range of savory food is large but please try and improve the quality of the cakes.

The staff are obviously trying, a little, but this isn't Big Dad's Staff, its pies. If I was Big Dad I would go on down to my head chef and give them an award for making pies to replicate the taste of unpleasantness. I have given this place three tries over three different pies just to even out the spread and on each time they have failed. Maybe it's been the mince that has an odd texture like moss, or the half a kilo of pepper and no steak in a pepper steak pie. Maybe it's the lack of curry in a curry pie. All I know is that they certainly can serve up a fresh packet disappointment consistently.
