Disaster

Waterslides 'temporarily closed' the ENTIRE DAY. No reason given. No refund given. Worst place ever. Total ripoff.

Great family day entertainment

What a fantastic fun place for children on a rainy day!! My grandson came from Ct with his family I had never been and I see so little of my grandchildren When we got there we were shocked at the price of each adult to sit and watch the kids So for an afternoon of four hours it cost 3 adults plus child $ 240. This is a bit out of my ranch I hope this review may make a difference in the adult admission The concept and park itself is awesome Jackie Ps I also enjoyed a private 80 th birthday party in one of your function rooms So Could it be $20 for just watching !!

The freshly updated resort was nice. They did a great job transitioning this from the old hotel that was very run down. We got here at 1230 for an early check in at 12 that was approved as part of the pre check in. Our room was not ready until 4pm. That was a bummer. Overall the room was very nice. Check out is 11am and we were denied late check out. Checking in a 4pm and having to leave by 11am seems a bit unfair. The waterpark was well done. A lazy river, slides, and a wave pool. There was an insane amount of people in the lazy river, but we had a great time. The arcade was great for the kids. It was fairly priced and the attendants at check out both times let my son get a toy he was short a few points for! The restaurant here was quite impressive. The drinks were great and the food was solid. Overall we were impressed with the hotel, but under-impressed by the service and were deeply disappointed that we traveled 2 hours with an approved early check in, and were left sitting in the lobby until 4pm. Parking here is very tough, beware!

We stayed at the brand new, renovated resort and had a nice time! Rooms are beautiful and the price was right. Spacious, bright, comfortable. I booked through Expedia, apparently the water park is only included if you book directly. We paid for the water park separately but because we were staying got a discounted rate, $25 per person and access was valid from when we purchased at 6pm until 1pm the next day, but we were given new wristbands the next day at no charge. The water park is ok, there's not a ton to do but the younger kids will be very happy, our 7 year old had a great time at the wave pool, lazy river, and using the slides. The lobby, restaurants, and facilities are all beautiful and comfortable. We really enjoyed the activities: karaoke and live animals. The day we left the activity was a magician. Food was good, don't expect knock your socks off dishes, but everything was tasty, fresh, well portioned and fairly priced. Service: - Joe's merchant cafe: really spectacular, above and beyond service. All the ladies that work there are lovely! - Land Shark: lacking, we stood at the entrance with 2 other families waiting while the bartender watched, waitress was ok, food came out promptly. - front desk: service could be much friendlier, it was tepid at best. - cleaning staff: outstanding!!! - water park staff: so friendly and accommodating! Overall a very nice experience and I would recommend it to families, a much needed upgrade from other similar places in the area!

Black mold above room A/C unit

It's bright and colorful and the indoor water park is fun for a couple of hours if you're with kids, but the condition of the room when I woke up was ridiculous. During the night I felt drops of water hit me, and when I woke up I saw that the entire floor and the ceiling were covered in a layer condensation. The floor was so wet I thought there was a leak at first and the ceiling was literally dripping water. Anything that was left out was damp, including clothes and shoes. It was very unpleasant. There also seemed to be black mold above the A/C unit. What I found most troubling was when the state of the room was mentioned at check out, the attendant shrugged and told my father, "Yeah, it's humidity." When my dad asked if it had been reported before, he was nonchalantly told "yes." So it's clear that the resort is aware of the problem and they are doing nothing about it. I never write reviews, but my experience was disappointing enough that I felt others should know. This hotel is not cheap, but the comfortability of the rooms does not equal the cost. I was only there for one night and I wouldn't encourage people to book a stay there.

Water park at night

We stayed at the new Margaritaville on a Monday night in December. They had just opened so we were able to get a grand opening special deal. The special included 20% off of the hotel room, a $25 credit and four park passes for each day that we were there. The check-in experience was great. I did ask for no down pillows and was told that they only have pillows that are down and polyester together. I ended up sleeping on a Margaritaville pillow that seemed to not have any down in it. If you are allergic, please note that you might want to bring your own pillow. We were told on check-in that the waterpark is only open from 3 PM to 8 PM which was rather disappointing. When I called to ask how many passes we were going to receive per day, this was not told to me. Please be aware of this if you plan on using the waterpark. The updates of the lobby are incredible. It's sad to see that there's no longer a fireplace, but rather a flip-flop, which goes along with the Margaritaville decor. We stayed in room 1118 and it faced the courtyard. We were able to access the room with a Margaritaville bracelet instead of a key, which I really liked. We were also able to park right outside of the door to our hallway. We went to both of the water parks and not much has changed if you ever visited the Cape Codder resort. It looks like they may have painted a little bit, but otherwise both rooms are exactly the same. No one checked us in so we both just grabbed two towels and went right into the lazy river. The room itself was beautifully decorated. This is probably the best part of our stay. We had a room facing the courtyard and if it was nicer out, we had two Adirondack chairs outside to hang out in. The restaurants at the hotel were great, I posted reviews for each one of those individually in case you are wondering what they offer. It does look like they're breaking ground behind the hotel so I'm sure they will be expanding. Looking forward to seeing the great things at this place has to offer to our area.

No food into the water park, order from our snack bar that was non-existent. Or order from our restaurant that doesn't do to go orders

Awful still waiting for a response from the manager on a full refund. No hot water broken TV broken fridge broken no room service as advertised no vending machine in the entire building. no bottled water in the entire building. The Xtra add on charges for aminites that don't even exist should be a crime. My card is still being hit! We couldn't shower for 2 days! They said they would send this security guard from the bar to fix my water he never showed up! Everything was broken none of the amenities were working no arcade no room service nobody would answer the phone if you tried to place an order and pick it up you had to go down and wait in line and then wait another 2 hours for your food that was extremely overpriced! $80 for Three Turkey clubs that I waited 2 hours for! The water park says you cannot bring food or water in there you need to purchase from their restaurant or their snack bar their snack bar didn't exist in their restaurant doesn't take takeout orders go figure! The water park opens at 3:00 and closes at 8:00! The jacuzzi closes whenever they feel like it and if it is open it's cold! This was just a disaster one disaster after another! I am seriously waiting for somebody to reply to my email to the manager or to my phone call back to Bill because they need to refund me something if not all of my money. How can you charge on top of a room fee a booking fee when everything is broken the charges called in an amenity charge but there's no amenities somebody please tell me how this is legal? We moved rooms after two days with no hot water means no showers. So on the third day we got to take a shower yes!and we got to watch some TV! But guess what in this new room they had all the fixings for coffee but no machine! And the heater was broken! It wasn't broken to the point where we couldn't turn it on! oh no that would be easy! The heat was on alright on and blaring 95 degrees non stop! We couldn't shut it off! The thermostat on the wall had zero power going to it. And the power button on the actual heater it self didn't work! So I feeling heat exhausted and overwhelmed I actually canceled the room for the next night! We got up and went home at 2:00am! I mean this is something you only see in a movie! I felt like I was being punked..

We've been here when it was the cape codder. The rooms were meh The water park was cool and the Arcade was decent. The Rebranding and refurbishing was such an improvement. The rooms looked cleaner and more new, The beds are more comfortable than before and the staff are so much more friendly. I represent a family of four and despite the high price for the rooms and the water park admission , We will come back here for another two night stay

We visited Margaritaville Cape Cod over Presidents' Day weekend during a snowstorm, and the moment we stepped inside, we felt transported to a tropical paradise. Taking over a decades-old hotel, Margaritaville did a fantastic job of transforming the space into a vibrant, island-inspired retreat. The resort is beautifully themed, with every inch embracing the Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville vibe. LandShark Bar & Grill was a highlight--great food, friendly service, and a lively atmosphere. The Hawaiian Luau Burger and fish & chips (with a light beer batter) were standouts, and the Key Lime Pie was a must-try. For breakfast, there's a coffee shop serving smoothies, coffee, and sandwiches, plus a reasonably priced buffet ($18 adults, $12 kids) with all the essentials. We booked the King Suite Apartment/Condo, which was spacious and well-equipped, featuring a whirlpool tub with color-changing lights and a steam shower--both incredible additions. However, while advertised for four guests, the space realistically accommodates three, as the sofa does not convert into a bed. The hotel does offer a cot for an additional charge, but they should clarify this in the room description. The resort offers a 30,000 sq. ft. waterpark, complete with 4 slides, a wave pool, a lazy river, and a massive hot tub--perfect for families. Hotel guests get 50% off waterpark tickets, a great perk. They're also adding a tiki bar next to the waterpark, which will be a fantastic addition once complete. Other amenities include an arcade, nightly entertainment (magicians, movies, balloon artists), and an outdoor area with fire pits, hammocks, and lawn games--sure to be a hit in warmer months. The resort is still fine-tuning some details, with ongoing renovations to the spa and an upcoming tiki bar (possibly a restaurant as well) by the waterpark. Pricing is on the higher side, which we heard some guests mention, but this isn't a budget hotel--it's a full Margaritaville experience and you get what you pay for. Overall, we had a fantastic time and fully expect this place to be a summer hotspot. The staff is working hard to fine-tune operations, and we look forward to returning!

We booked the "beach front" 1 bed 1 sofa bed room. In the pictures online it looked like our room had a door for the bedroom for privacy. NOPE! It was 100% open and the main bed was directly in the mini kitchen area. So that meant no privacy from our kids. There's no toaster or a microwave but there's a stove that can boil water in seconds. Since there's no rugs and no small area rugs, the floor gets incredibly sandy. I would recommend bringing a broom or swiffer.

We are on day 2 of our 5-night stay and already regret our decision to book here. We booked an ocean front king bunk suite for two adults and one child. Horrible, rude service from the time we checked in. We were greeted by a crusty-looking man at the front desk who immediately asked for our credit card and if he could run it for the remaining balance of our stay, which I thought was odd since most hotels usually wait until checkout to charge your card. We were not offered help with our bags upon check in. When I asked for a luggage cart the crusty man looked confused and told us that it would "take a while" and "probably wouldn't work anyway because the rooms are so small" and basically just to do it ourselves. After we dragged all of our bags from the car to the building, we had to carry them up two flights of stairs because there were no elevators. Once inside, the room was TINY, and had a gross humid feeling. It's obvious that they just put some lipstick on what was once a dumpy roadside motel and called it a day. So far the view and beach access are the only good things about this resort. There is not enough room to fit three suitcases and two adults + one small child comfortably without tripping over each other. The floors feel dirty and sandy and not clean to walk on with bare feet. Tub is dirty and paint is chipping. Went downstairs for coffee on our first morning (there is no free coffee btw) and paid TWELVE DOLLARS for two mediocre cups of coffee. The workers seem very unfriendly and almost hostile. Reading the reviews from a few years ago vs. now sounds like two different hotels, so it definitely seems like things took a turn recently. I am not high maintenance and was not expecting it to be The Four Seasons, but at this price point I would expect at least friendly service and a few basic amenities (like free coffee/breakfast or bottled water in the rooms?) I could go on but I've wasted enough time on this place. It's 4th of July week so there's no chance of finding another hotel with availability now. Will most definitely not be returning here.

What could be wrong, you ask. Well how about the fact that it was a nonstop weird sales pitch to try to get us to buy a time share. Let me back up. On check in, we were greeted by an unfriendly guy who clearly hates his job, and we were told to wear red elastics so we could be identified as guests when we were in the pool, etc. If we didn't return these elastics at the end of our stay, we would be charged $5 per elastic. For $5, I could buy a bag of red elastics and hand them out all over town. So anyway, right off the bat we were treated like children who couldn't be trusted. We were also given a piece of paper to put on the dashboard to prove we could park there. It wasn't enough to give our license plate and make and model of the car. And the rules continued. Rules upon rules. Only one beach towel per person per day. If you don't return the beach towel, you'll be charged for it. Cheap bastards! Nice resorts have piles of towels available for guest usage, but sure, I'll dry myself off after exiting the pool and then carry a damp towel around for the rest of the day. The pool rules were excessive as well. No diving, no running, no glass, no food, no fun. I mean, I get it, you don't want people to get hurt because you're liable. But then why have us sign a lengthy waiver form on check in? I get the need for rules, but the sign to the pool area was just a big list of don'ts. There was no restaurant, no bar, and no beach chairs to use. The private beach was about 20 feet of sand with fences on both sides and big signs with more rules. No trespassing! No running on the stairs to the beach. Etc. But what really takes the cake is the activities room where three desks are located. We went in on our first morning and were looking around - couch, tv, glass windows showing the patio area - when suddenly a guy behind the desk catches sight of me and my husband, and says "Sir? Excuse me sir?" And proceeds to ask if we will take 10 minutes to listen to a pitch about buying a time share. I think his name was Walter and not only was he sexist and rude, but pushy as hell. We said no thanks, we weren't interested in a time share but he wouldn't take no for an answer. He kept trying to convince us and said "all of our owners are very happy!" Maybe so Walter, because they have all drunk the koolaid at ocean cult on smugglers beach. Time shares are scammy and if we ever wanted to consider one, we would not pick a place with no restaurant, limited towels, sexist staff, and rules against fun. Really, this place has some nerve. It was basically a more expensive motel 6. My husband returned to the room to grab something, and found the room phone ringing. Wouldn't you know, it was Walter calling, wanting to know if we had heard the good news. My husband told him, again, no thank you, we don't want a time share. And that was the extent of our stay. It made me feel gross and in need of a shower. This place has potential. Get a restaurant onsite, or at least a bar. Heat the pool maybe. Provide beach chairs and more than one towel. Fire Walter. Be polite to your guests. Be welcoming, stop charging ridiculous fees. Ice cream socials are a cute idea, but don't charge $5 each for a bowl of Hood ice cream (yes I asked where it was from. What a great opportunity to support a local business. Nope.) It's great that they have movies you can borrow and crafts you can partake in (for a fee). But nothing could make up for the way we were treated and the things this place is lacking. We won't be back Ocean Cult. And we definitely won't be purchasing a time scam.

The rooms have been upgraded over the years and are really nice! This year we got bunkbeds which have been awesome for our kids. They are huge! And very well made. A nice upgrade from our past stays. Each room has a little outdoor space, and there are two floors; we always request the bottom floor because it's just much easier with little kids. Having a little porch is great, it's nice having a spot where you can sit and hang after a long day, have lunch, kids can play, or as a place for all your pool toys to hang dry. There's also an indoor pool and hot tub which are really great for the windier days!! It's also fun that the pools and hot tubs are open late for a late night swim. Staff are nice, but not as around as I would like. Still, facilities are really great overall! A bonus is that you can use one of the facilities of the other hotels that belong to Red Jacket, all close by. One is within walking distance and one is a five minute drive. The one next door has a great bar and take out restaurant, that has perfect beach food, like quesadillas, chicken fingers, hot dogs etc. (and can even make chocolate frozen drinks for kids!). We also really love that they have child activities through out the week. Last summer our daughter's favorite was doing crafts on the lawn and seeing a pirate show. This summer there weren't as many crafts being offered unfortunately but they still had a gaming truck that pulled up in the parking lot my son lovedddd, and they also offered mermaid hair styles. There are several activities each day offered through out the different properties. It's just a beautiful property and so worth the wait for us every summer. Though it's pretty pricey, it's very worth it!

Around 2 a.m., I spoke with a pleasant woman at the front desk. I asked if they had ocean-view rooms, and she said yes, "I could reserve one for the following weeks. I told her I'd confirm in the morning after speaking with my fiancé. The next day (September 3, 2025) we checked out. The front desk was empty, so we left without confirming anything. My fiancé decided he didn't have time that month, so we planned to return later. The next day, Anchor Inn charged my debit card $534.34 without my authorization. I immediately called the hotel. The manager, Eva, was extremely rude and unprofessional -- shouting and refusing to listen. She claimed that I had "booked the room," which is false. Even if a reservation had been made, I had the legal right to cancel before the scheduled stay, and the hotel was obligated to provide a refund under Massachusetts 940 CMR 3.16(3), which prohibits unfair or deceptive practices in business transactions, including the refusal to refund for services not rendered. I explained this to Chase Bank's fraud department, and they agreed with me -- the charge was unauthorized and they refunded my money. Shockingly, on October 22, 2025, the hotel charged my account again -- another $534.34! I called repeatedly; no one answered. My emails were ignored. Chase later informed me that Anchor Inn submitted "documentation" claiming I signed the charge. That is completely false -- I have never signed anything. Submitting false authorization documents constitutes fraud and theft under Massachusetts General Laws c. 266 § 30. What makes this even more painful is my health condition. I have suffered severe pneumonia since April 2025, confirmed by CT and X-ray (lung scarring, chronic cough, loss of voice). These were my last funds meant for medication, oxygen equipment, and masks. By wrongfully taking this money, the hotel put my health and life in danger, violating M.G.L. c. 93A § 2(a), which forbids unfair acts that cause foreseeable harm to consumers. I am now preparing a motion to the Massachusetts Superior Court (Boston) to recover the stolen $534.34 and seek additional damages for fraud, theft, emotional distress, and health endangerment. I will also file complaints with: * Massachusetts Attorney General's Office - Consumer Protection Division * Federal Trade Commission (FTC) * Better Business Bureau (BBB) Please, future guests, be cautious. The location and rooms may be beautiful, but no hotel has the right to charge your card without your permission, and no one deserves to be treated with such aggression and disrespect. -- Irina Boston, MA

View is nice. But not $300 nice. Air conditioner fan stayed on constantly with no way to shut it…read moreoff. Continental breakfast had a decent variety. Most of the staff was nice. Pool was 8 + feet deep. Not recommended for young children.
