Landscaping by Fisher

In late August 2015, after our house construction was completed, we met with Dan Fisher,…read moreowner/operator of Fisher Landscaping, Inc., Farmington, PA, to discuss his killing all the weeds on the construction site, bringing in top soil, and putting in our new lawn from scratch. Dan came to our home and walked around the lot with us and discussed what needed to be done and how he would do it. He told both of us that we should treat the lawn again in the Spring, and that he would continue to monitor our lawn in the future and do whatever was necessary (at our cost, of course) to keep the grass growing strong and healthy. A few days later he submitted an estimate for $6720.40 and we called and contracted with him to do the job. He said to wait until the weather cooled off and that he would begin the work at the proper time. On Sept. 29, 2015, he and his crew completed the job and we paid Dan in full. On April 5, 2016, we paid an additional $524.70 for the Spring treatment completed by Dan's crew. Within a couple of weeks, large sections of the lawn began to brown out, much of the grass died, and big brown "circles" appeared all over the yard. I called Dan several times over two months and left phone messages for him asking him to call us to make arrangements to come over and look at the yard, discuss what was happening and what needed to be done to remedy the situation, but he failed to return my calls. In the meantime, large patches of weeds and crabgrass had begun to grow and spread in the dead sections of the yard and other areas continued to brown and dry up. During this time, there was rain to regularly water the grass. It was obvious that there was a problem just with our lawn because there were clear lines of demarcation exactly following our property lines, where our survey stakes are, where our grass was brown and dying, while our neighbors' grass on either side was green and healthy. On July 25 I sent a certified letter to Dan, for which his wife signed, but still we've received no response. On Sept. 12, 2016, we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They contacted Dan Fisher multiple times over the next month and, on Oct. 14, 2016, the Better Business Bureau closed the complaint with this result: "The company failed to respond either to the consumer or the Bureau to the complaint(s) filed." We since have had another company come out and check the lawn and perform a similar weed-and-feed treatment at a cost of $120.33, less than 25% of what Dan Fisher charged us for the same treatment he supposedly performed in April, and the grass has responded beautifully, getting much more healthy and thick and green.
