A few years later, Stacey Meshnick and Jordan Lipka worked with me on the preparation of the Accounting and Receipt, Release and Refunding Agreement for a Trust for my deceased parent. They recommended the preparation and execution of these documents to both settle the Trust distribution as well as protecting me from any liability as Trustee. All was prepared, executed, and filed in a professional and timely manner. I would highly recommend them and their firm for any ElderCare Legal and Planning issues you may encounter.

She has a loving family, and we all wanted her to remain in her own home. We went looking for help in negotiating the overwhelming maze of obtaining elder care services. From our very first meetings with them, my husband and I felt sure that Fatoullah & Associates was the right choice. The process of applying for 24-hour home care through Medicaid had been stressful, laborious, and almost incomprehensible to us. Now we had the firm, our lawyer Stacey Meshnick, and Paula Goldstein on our team. Because of their strategic and creative recommendations, help in making the correct applications and filing them in the correct order; and having backup plans, success became inevitable. It felt like the team just worked miracles and we wound up getting 24-hour, 7day a week care through Medicaid, not a foregone outcome by any means. A special shout out to Paula: Her expertise, compassion, responsiveness, and sense of humor were invaluable in helping us keep relatively calm through the most anxious parts of the journey

When I decided to have my own estate matters done, it was a very easy decision to seek out Attorney Gruer to handle the matter. Again, the work was efficient and professionally done. Pay for a Mercedes - but POTENTIAL CLIENT BEWARE - you will end up with a pinto!…read moreSharon Kovacs Gruer is the most unprofessional attorney I have ever encountered. As a successful businessperson myself, I have had the pleasure of working with several of the NY area's leading firms to excellent avail. Unfortunately, Ms. Gruer and her firm, rank at top of my list of the most unpleasant law firm experiences I have ever had. Needless to say, she failed to complete the matter for which she was retained although instructed to do so and paid to do so. From the moment I walked in, i should have trusted my instinct and gotten up and walked out. Practically before I was sitting down at the consultation table to meet Ms. Gruer for the first time, her assistant walked in and insisted payment of the consultation fee. A mere $450. No problem... figured her assistant was just poor-mannered. But, following retaining Ms. Gruer, the antics continued as I discovered the lack of professionalism she practices with. Besides making errors in the preparation of documents on numerous occasions (causing legal papers to be rejected by the courts and undue delay caused by her firm's errors), I also discovered multiple incidents of improper billing (bill padding). When I was placed in the unfortunate position of having to bring these issues to her attention (which I had to do at least twice), Ms. Gruer would reply by letter, usually letters which were completely unresponsive to the issue at hand. A matter which was "simple" and "straightforward" - as I know because she referred to the matter as that - were complicated unnecessarily merely for her billing benefit. In addition, I was charged for time spent to correct her firm's errors. Not only does Ms. Gruer and her paralegal appear to be inexperienced in the practices she claims to have expertise in, but Ms. Gruer lacks basic common sense and interpersonal skills. Ms. Gruer's deficiencies in interpersonal skills, coupled with carelessness, I am afraid render her incapable of handling even the most basic of legal matter. Elder Law and Estate Planning is a very personal, important family matter, which requires a client to have trust in their attorney to appropriately handle the matter for which they were retained. Unfortunately, and without reservation, I CANNOT recommend Sharon Kovacs Gruer.
