This is a deceptively large well stocked kitchen/ cooking equipment shop. Very helpful staff and better stocked than most department stores' cookery sections. I always try and buy stuff from here rather than on the internet because I love shopping there so much. They even have a little bit where children can sit and play. Marchants is a unique independant store tucked away down a side street of town but well worth the walk to. Unfortunately there is no parking outside, although there is a drop off and pick up zone close by. Parking would be either via a nearby car park or the town centre. The shop has a wide range of products for the cooking enthusiast, from pots and pans to containers, dishes, utensils and far too many more to list. The staff are always very polite, greet you on entering and offer to help you find just what you are looking for - nothing is ever too much trouble. The will help you to source items and make suggestions for you. The only downside with this store is that it is tricky to get around with a large buggy, but for slightly older children there is an area with toys for them to play with whilst you shop in peace and quiet. read more

Firstly,let me say that i found the layout of this store brilliant,prices were reasonable and a fantastic selection.However,you will see that i have given the store only one star when i visited on 6th June 2009 and that is because of the staff,i don't mind being greeted as i walked in the door but as soon as i walked in the door,a girl with medium length dark hair asked if i needed any help,i said no thanks,i took a few more steps and another girl asked if i needed help,again i said no thank you,i walked to another part of the shop and i was asked again,by this time,i was not happy and told the girl i have been asked 3 times in 2 mins,aren't people allowed to browse in a shop without being asked all the time i asked her in a polite manner,this girl had long mousey brown hair (looked about 30+ years old)and i found her reply almost rude,when she said,i was only asking in what i called a sarcastic manner,wherever i walked in this store,a member of staff was within a few feet,maybe they have problems with shoplifting but there is no need to be so close to customers all the time,its not just me as i saw other members of staff keep standing so close to other customers,i very much doubt i will visit this store again,due to its staff who hassle you and follow you around the shop,Karen read more
