WARNING: COVID-19 Denial / Anti-Vaxx / Anti-Mask ALERT…read more I am the primary caregiver for my 95 year old grandmother so I am exercising a high degree of caution and I am strictly adhering to the recommended public health measures and safety protocols that are in place. I am also friends with a few frontline healthcare workers so I know how extremely difficult the last 21 months have been for my doctor and nurse friends. Okay, so today is Thursday 30th December 2021, and we are at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic ... like it's never been worse than it is now. We've got almost 14,000 official new cases in Quebec today alone and the positivity rate is hovering above 30% ... the Island of Montreal is pretty much one entire hot zone. À Votre Santé is usually a great shop. I am usually a big fan because they have all the health food store stuff I know and love, but today on the front door I notice some Anti-vaxx propaganda. I call and ask what that's all about. I speak to a person named Veronica who goes on to tell me that a lot of unvaccinated people are treated poorly at other businesses and that they are welcome with open arms here. And she brushes off my concerns and invites me to shop at another store. The healthcare system is crumbling and rates of infections are skyrocketing and these folks cannot think beyond the tip of their noses. This is a paramount example of the selfish, deluded and idiotic behaviour and notions that have crippled our society. This is why the end of this pandemic has eluded us. We are all in this together -- Ça va bien aller Get vaccinated, get your booster shot, wear your N95 mask, maintain a physical distance of 2 metres, reduce your contacts to one household bubble and hopefully this will all be over sooner than later.

You can find natural products (bamboo toothbrush, chemical free toothpaste, body lotions, soaps) as well as unique stone jewelry, incense, essential oils, you get the picture. The naturopath was helpful in finding supplements for my needs. Another employee was a pleasure to chat with and she guided me through the entire store as I went on a mini shopping spree! If you enjoy a personalized, informative non pushy shopping experience definitely check this place out. Great for gifts too. They have mini incense variety packages and cute stones etc. They will help you find something that suits the person you are buying for. They also have an in store loyalty program. TIP: 10% off first Friday of the month

I have been going to this store that sells health supplements, Ki Nature et Santé for years and…read moreyears. There are two stores; one on St Denis and one in Pointe Claire. The proprietor is Peruvian born Juan Wong. He studied pharmaceutical studies and graduated as a pharmacist. You can buy supplements anywhere but at 'Ki' there are naturopaths and Mr. Wong, himself who are available to advise you on lifestyle changes and which supplements can be effective, taking into consideration the medical condition of the client...and even what medications the person takes. Several years ago I was plagued with very itchy hives (urticaria) that would not go away. They had become progressively worse over the years, at that point erupting constantly. My quality of life was compromised. I visited two dermatologists and an allergy doctor who prescribed antihistamines...for life. The side effects were debilitating. After 8 months on the drugs, I went to see Mr. Wong at Ki Nature et Santé and the first thing he said was to stop eating all carbs (no bread, no sugar, no pasta or cereal etc.., not even fruit). and to eat protein and plenty of vegetables. I did as he said and two days later I was off the antihistamines...and the hives did not return! After a week, I decided to reintroduce a bit of bread and the hives started to return. I stopped all carbs again and they went away. I was only able to slowly reintroduce carbs after a month. To this day, hives will only start to return if I overdo the carbohydrates. It was Mr. Wong who explained that carbs increase inflammation in the body. And as we know, inflammation is at the base of so many diseases. I sent an acquaintance, someone newly arrived in Canada who was hit suddenly with a severe case of lupus, to see Mr. Wong at Ki in Pointe Claire. When I see the wife of this person, she cannot say enough about the help her husband received from Mr. Wong. Mr. Wong also keeps on top of the latest medical research and studies. He has helped many of my friends and family members with a variety of conditions. I thank him and his team at Ki for years of invaluable advice and recommendations.

This shop's goods are always slightly (or more) higher than other shops, like Branche D'Olivier (but then Bd'O differs from franchise to franchise). At one time it seemed some of the staff had some knowledge of simple nutrition but the whole "natural" vibe seems to have left. Now it's simply a dark shop with high prices. I did buy some soapworks soap (still a good deal). The cashier, altho very sweet and courteous, had eyelash extensions and super long acrylic bedazzled nails (making it difficult to punch cash and process change) which somehow, to me, seem incongruous with "natural" and "healthy". Someone needs to rethink what they are trying to do here.

It has since been a semi regular stop for me when I need to stock up on a few health items. It is a cute little shop tucked away in Monkland Village. How can you not like a store that has a sign on the window saying "Hippie's Welcome!" Anyway, it is a well organized place with very helpful and knowledgable staff. There is also a naturopath that will help you choose products, herbs etc based on your various ailments if you are so inclined. If you are on the hunt for gluten free items etc there is a nice variety of popular brands and if you want something specific, they will happily order for you. All in all, a great little place that I enjoy going to!

They say they have "bulk delivery". You decide…read more Ali once claimed I was the St. Henri store's first customer. I have type-2 diabetes. Which I've mentioned multiple times to ALI, as I've tried for 40 years to get him to carry stevia, the only acceptable sugar substitute for diabetics (according to my doctor). So much fun realizing they just eliminated it from their shelves...altogether. But it was this bulk grain order that's turned me off this store, perhaps for good: I ordered 5 X 20KG bags of grain. Kamut, Spelt Rye, Buckwheat and Oats. The Kamut, Spelt, Rye and Oats arrived in a reasonable amount of time. And, as I am handicapped, Ali brought it right up to the third floor. Nice. I haven't seen any sign of the buckwheat, in the 5 months since. Despite Ali giving his word it was coming. But the oats were the kicker. "Not fit for human consumption" is the description I'd give them. Every mouthful a festival of oat husks, and I'm spitting that &^%%$ out for an hour after every breakfast. I told Ali about it, days after it was delivered, and again, he gave me his word it'd be replaced. 5 months later, I'm still waiting. When the weather's good enough for me to get to the store, with my two canes and without my ebike, limited to about 3 blocks range...I limp to the store and I'm told that "Ali doesn't want to deal with this." Well. I don't exactly want to deal with an enormous bag of pig-oats, which I'm now forced to eat every day. I NEED oats for my diet. And there's no way I can carry a 20KG bag downstairs to throw it out. So now I'm forced to eat BAD oats I don't like...and to wonder why I'm being treated so shoddily. So "bulk delivery"??? Meh. Use TAU

Seriously, walking in I suddenly felt like I was transported to the food shops I used to go to with my mom back in the 1970s as a kid in small-town Quebec. With Montreal Canadians and vintage Quebecois memorabilia, it's really not hard to imagine what a real Mom and Pop stores on Main Street used to look like before giant supermarkets and mega stores drove them out of business. This place has absolutely everything to address your poultry needs and then some. The chickens are all grain-fed and sourced locally in Quebec. I haven't tried the sausages yet but they sure looked tempting. You'll get the same quality of meat here as you would as more expensive locations at Atwater Market or Jean Talon Market - minus the insane markups. I'm glad Verdun still has many shops like these.

It's decked out with random memorabilia, and the window features a different record label (and quote) each week - this has got to be the butcher with the most character in the province! My favourite thing to get from here is the bambi (cerf) sausages - I can't recommend them enough! They have a wide selection of home-made sausages, and all the ones I've tried have been great. The chicken they sell is grain feed and from Quebec, so it's the good stuff. They also have a selection of cheeses and pates, which are nice to round-out a meal. Another thing I like to go there for is their marinated steaks, all of which are good (my favourite is the spicey one). They also have minced horse meat, which is great for burgers. If you're in the neighbourhood or live not to far, and want fantastic quality meats, then you need to come here.
