Funny story- I accidentally ended up at Long Branch (LB) Park when I was suppose to be at another…read morenearby park. There was a huge event occurring for a good cause so we decided to hang out for an hour or so. Parking is ample. There are 3 shelters in the park and appear to be well maintained. All 3 shelters and bathrooms are in close proximity to each other and the parking lot. There is quite an incline from the parking lot to the shelters, note for accessibility. There is a small toddler friendly playground near the shelters and a couple short walking trails. The wooded areas have tall, mature trees flanking the trails. There are nice views of the nearby river. The only detractor for me is that no matter where you are in the park you can hear the traffic, either from the nearby road or the thruway. It takes away from the atmosphere. Also the one lane LB bridge that goes over the river is in very rough shape, drive slowly so as to not damage your vehicle and for general safety. Overall, a nice area for a gathering. Please note: LB Park is not Onondaga Lake Park. :)

Going uphill there is a good sized playground, tennis courts, and basketball courts (admittedly often overgrown). From the playground to the courts the park road is blocked to vehicle traffic. On the upper area is an outdoor community pool, a parking lot, and an outdoor gym set up. Then there's also blocked off lower and upper roads encircling a hill and a small field, which look so quaint I always picture Bilbo Baggins living there. The views of the city the pool area and the top field are magnificent, and benches invite you to stay for a while to enjoy it (or maybe catch your breath from walking there). Schiller has two access points to park by car (Farmer St- lower, Oak St- upper) and plenty of access by foot. I've spent many many visits exploring the different paths of Schiller. It's a park which feels very much at the center of it's community, a touch rough on some edges, but very beautiful.

We wanted to go down by the play equipment, but the road is closed off the vehicles. We were able to leave the park and drive around the corner and park in a lower parking lot which is near the baseball diamond. There was one lone table near a building called the recreation center, and it was in a little gazebo. Kids enjoyed the play equipment. It must have been installed or upgraded very recently as it was very new 8/2015. There are two areas one for smaller kids 2-5 and one for larger kids 5-12. There is one small table in each of the kids areas which has a cover and provides shade during the hot summer months when kids are out playing.

It's been a…read morestaple here for a long time and offers a nice spot to take a stroll after any meal at the local restaurants nearby or a post-ice cream walk after taking down a banana sundae at Sno Top. Ducks are plentiful during most seasons and are generally happy to see you, especially if you're using the feeders up by the roadside. There are ball fields nearby, swings (like rocker-style, not playground), and a small amphitheater in the vicinity. When you're all done with your walk, you can head up to the Manlius Library and enjoy what it has to offer or Unplugged Games for some board or card gaming. This is a great location for locals and passersby's alike.

A delightful little park just south of Aurora, NY (near Wells College). Even after growing up not…read moretoo far away - and having driven by numerous times while going back and forth to RIT for school - I only recently visited this park for the first time. It's smaller, but lovely and very clean. Plenty of parking for folks just visiting the beach area, using the picnic tables, and so on, as well as plenty of space for folks coming in with boats. Easy access to Cayuga Lake via the little marina area, and even includes a rentable cottage with plenty of amenities. Even includes a couple miles of hiking trails, though my pup much preferred hanging out in the water and wandering along the beach area. :) All in all, another very nice NYS Park option available. I love having another spot to put my Empire Pass to good use!
