Tile Shop

Tile Shop

(1 review)

My recent experience with THE TILE SHOP in DANBURY, CT was one of the worst in my long history of…read moreshopping!!   My husband and I went to the store and spent considerable time and effort selecting tile for our bathroom.  We were given a 30 DAY TIME PERIOD for the order to come in. FOUR MONTHS LATER, the tiles finally arrived. We picked up the numerous boxes and stored them carefully in our garage until we could  engage our contractor to install them. A few weeks later, the contractor was available to come with his subs to lay the tile. The bathroom floor was prepared, the thin-set mixed and when the tile boxes were opened NOTHING was right!  They were the WRONG SIZE, WRONG COLOR, various in dimension and insufficient in number.  Our contractor commented that it looked like the boxes had been pulled out of a dumpster then shrink wrapped for sale. When we took these tiles back to THE TILE SHOP for a refund, the salesperson helping us took us to the store manager for approval of the return. She started asking questions without understanding the circumstances..."Why didn't we check the tiles when we received them? She couldn't take the tiles back because it was LONG PAST the time allotted for returns, etc." (THEY caused the delay!!) When we told her the tiles were the wrong ones she suggested we should have opened all of the boxes to check earlier. (Are you kidding?!?)  Then she tried to shift responsibility for the snafu to the hapless salesperson who was doing his best to remain calm and professional. I felt really bad for him! Why didn't THE TILE SHOP inspect all the boxes before sending them out ?!?!! Even after hearing the circumstances surrounding the purchase, the biggest of which was THE TILE SHOP'S 4 MONTH DELAY IN DELIVERY, the manager got snotty with us, made some disparaging remarks, turned on her heel and walked away. No apologies. Just attitude. So much for customer "service" !!   FYI, we took our business elsewhere and were treated very well.  The new tiles arrived in 3 days, all in their original boxes.  We were allowed to return any extra boxes as well as individual tiles for a full refund.  Not only will we NEVER use the TILE SHOP again but will make sure to alert as many people as we can to the shoddy treatment we received.

Professional Water Systems

Professional Water Systems

I'd rate zero if Yelp allowed. When the system in my friends home abruptly stopped working they…read moremade a service call. The service rep arrived and seemed off - exhibiting signs consistent with a drug user - rapid speech aggressive belligerent argumentative behavior repeating "you see what I'm saying?" cOnstantly during his nonstop one way conversation. This would be bad enough except that he gave the system a cursory glance and pronounced it dead launching into a legal diatribe that PW would not authorize a replacement part (the timer) and of course a new system would be approx $2500. When they declined he became insistent and she could not get him to leave. We contacted GWI, a competitor, about a replacement system and while on the phone when my sister casually mentioned that a power surge during a storm could have affected the system the owner walked them through diagnosing the system and lo and behold it was simply unplugged. Of course the twitchy tech never bothered to check and had the owner of a good tech service not taken time they would have purchased a new system on Amazon and never discovered that the only issue was it was had been unplugged when they were stacking boxes a day earlier. INEXCUSABLE AND UNFORGIVABLE, Professional Water deserves an abysmal rating in knowledgeable AND overpriced. UGH.

My husband and I went in this past weekend for three different tile purposes (Kitchen Backsplash,…read moreBathroom floor and shower ceiling) and Ralph and Agnes were immensely helpful. Not only did they have a huge variety of options they were very good at keeping within price ranges and showing alternatives to more expensive options. They also helped us look at things we normally would have glossed right over (our kitchen back-splash in particular). We ended up with exactly what we were after despite having no idea what we really wanted going in. The service HUGELY outweighed any Hope Depot/Lowes and the prices were around the same if not cheaper. Not to mention Hope Depot said it would be 2-3 weeks for anything that had to be ordered (which would have been everything as they don't keep much in stock these days) and Village Tile is getting everything to me in less than 2 days... I strongly recommend going here over the big box stores. You will get far better service and support your local business owners!!
