The bathrooms are clean and upgraded. We saw they had a beach for swimming and ended up taking a refreshing dip in our clothes . Did I mention they are dog friendly and have a small playground for the kids. If you are just passing thru or looking for a few days to relax don't hesitate to stay here. Yes there is a slight bit of road noise but not bad at all.

The lake is huge, great for boating, fishing, jet skiing, tubing, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, swimming, or pretty much anything else you want to do in the water those are just the things I like to do there. Johnson lake is a great family getaway. While we were at the lake last weekend the Dawson's fair was in town and we checked that out Saturday night which was very fun. Everyone in the surrounding towns were very friendly too. Johnson lake also has a beach, I haven't gone to the beach but I drove by on the jet ski and boat several times and it usually looked pretty busy. I was so tired at the end of the weekend, I was always doing something while I was there. I feel like if I didn't have a boat or jet ski I would not have had as much fun so that's something to consider when you go to the lake. Even if you don't have either, it's still a rest place for swimming or relaxing!

There is almost no trash, people are super courteous and considerate. The water is still crystal blue and this year was warm. The views are absolutely beautiful -- wide open skies, calming water, and just that tranquil energy that makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper. If you're up for a tiny adventure, there's a slight climb down where you can access the caves and get closer to the water. It's such a cool experience and definitely worth it if you don't mind a little exploring. Whether you're looking for a quiet moment, a scenic drive stop, or a mini adventure, Lake Mac delivers. We love that they can pull their campers right to the beach and create your own camp. There are different packages so you can get all you need. This year we added another camper to accommodate another family. It was great to have 3 different campers to relax in during some chilly days. We also ordered fire wood and corn hole boards a picnic table and chairs. I highly recommend all of these. We also rented the boat with the slide and was unable to use it due to high wind. These guys KNOW what they're talking about when it comes to weather, I can assure you they don't cancel boats out of any other reason than safety. We ended up with a pontoon the next day (no slide sadly) and Jason said very sternly wind was coming by 4:45pm and he wasn't off by the minute, the wind picked up so fast it could have become a dangerous situation with the little kids in the water and we raced back off the water. I really appreciate their concern and they are super helpful even if we have to call and wake them up :) Really do enjoy our time here every year because they make it so much fun.

So we went to a different boat rental place and they have heard that they cancel on people a lot. So if you want a better boat rental choose Ski Patrol! We rented from them without an issue and were able to enjoy our vacation with friends. Kind of disappointing to be lied to maybe you shouldn't have that boat out to rent if your not going to rent it!

It was so clean and it appeared to be brand new. It had really great seating options, I loved every moment! The tube that came with wasn't big, but we had a lot of fun cruising down the lake, and putting around beaches. It had a loud radio and we enjoyed our 6 hours on the lake. Enjoy, because it goes so fast.

Got the camper all set up and was settled in for the evening. We got a knock on the door and the guy says this is his spot, he had reserved it online yesterday. Okay no problem we packed up and moved our camper. No argument from us. My question is why didn't the day workers mark the spot as reserved? Also there were stickers everywhere in the grass, we had to scrape them off of our shoes after walking In or out of the camper. When walking the dog we stayed on the pavement. Other campers were complaining about the same issue. This was not a good experience for us!

I grew up in Nebraska and really haven't been back much since I left over 20 years ago, so when my…read moreextended family suggested camping in Nebraska, I was less than thrilled. To my surprise, we the campsite was really great and we all had a fantastic time (and no one killed each other!) We are big campers, living in Colorado, but this Nebraska campsite was really pleasant in comparison to many we've been to over the years. I credit our campsite location (78/79/80) because it was nice a shaded, not super crowded and had a beautiful view of Lake McConaughy. The sites in the front near the restroom and shower facilities were really crowded and loud, so my experience would have been much different if we were there. The bathrooms were really nice and even the outhouse near our campsite was not terrible(you know... for an outhouse!). There is a great little store at the entrance that sells pretty much anything you can think of (including coffee!!! since the person in our group in charge of the coffee decided to sleep in both mornings!! She's fired!) All in all, we had a great time and will most definitely be back!

I'm sure the kitchenette rooms are even better. The patio area is great, has several tables, fire pits and grills for all to use. There is a fitness room and community lounge on site as well. It's not quite near the water, but everything around the lake is a few minutes drive. We were very happy with our stay.
