CURRYS COMPLAINT AND TIMELINE ---------------------…read more1/8/25 purchased £949 laptop from currys marsh mills plymouth 13/9/25 handed in laptop (Rowan, gave timescale of up to 2 weeks, gave poor service and made accusation about me voiding guarantee due to screw removal) 17/9/25 phoned currys customer service 18/9/25 received phone call from store (female explained that Rowan did nothing, and that she shall now send off laptop, timescale of 2 weeks max but tends to be quicker) 30/9/25 phoned currys customer service (associate on phone gave time scale of up to 4 weeks) NO PHONE CALL FROM STORE 4/10/25 went into store to complain complaint in store - spoke to store manager Nigel I relayed the events in sequence Nigel gave time scale of up to 2-3 weeks Nigel said that they would discipline Rowan for them taking no action I asked what Nigel would do to resolve the issue Nigel explained that Asus would have contacted me if there was an issue with the warranty by now I asked what Nigel would do in terms of recompense for what I've gone through with the following points - * Rowan giving poor customer service, and ultimately doing nothing, causing a delay with my laptop to start being processed by 5 days (which was only picked up because I made the phone call to make sure that it was being processed) * Being given different time frames of resolution by multiple sources (including Nigel) * Having no phone call from my request of being contacted which was made on 30/9/25 * Time and money spent chasing up, and travelling (fuel, personal time spent unnecessarily) * Having explained everything, no apology was given by Nigel at any time Nigel said that all they can do is apologise, and does not know why I was not contacted I responded saying "An apology means nothing if I have to ask for it", and wish to escalate this by speaking to the area manager Nigel said that they would only be able to give me the customer service number Nigel said that there's only 1 store manager I asked for area manager's first name - Nigel refused Nigel went on to say that there's a "general store manager" - manager name is Carl (who is on annual leave for 2 weeks) I left the store customer services (call made on 4/10/25 at 12:26 and lasted 47 mins) hlengi - apologised said would email regional manager (24-48 hours response by phone, which by end of phone call would be by 6/10/25 at 13:13 at the latest) (Richard) details of complaint read back to me - (asked to add the difference in time scales) hlengi asked me what I want as a resolution I explained that the MINIMUM that should be done is replace the laptop 4/10/25 - nigel phoned and said they spoke to asus who were awaiting parts for repair and will likely finish by end of next week customer services (call made on 7/10/25 at 13:13 and lasted 18 mins) Aya - they read notes out loud (I'm unsure if I misheard but it sounded like they said "manager in store showed no remorse and apologised) they explained that in terms of a regional manager of the store phoning me, they were sent an email asking them to reach out to me they said that they would check with the original associate (hlengi) to see if there's a reply an automatic reply was given to hlengi from the regional manager saying that they are away on annual leave and have a name of someone to reach out to in their absence (name not heard properly by myself on phone) Aya said that no followup was done to the automatic reply and the issue had become stagnant Aya said that they would now be sending an email to the person mentioned in the automatic email I asked for the time that the automatic email was received Aya said there wasn't a time listed I said that I now want to speak to a supervisor for the issue being stagnant, and only gaining momentum again by me chasing up a phone call I did not receive Aya said that supervisor Lele is currently on lunch, and they would call me between 15:00-17:00 today (7/10/25) customer services (call made on 7/10/25 at 17:01 and lasted 54 mins due to no phone call from supervisor Aya) Nela - I asked to be put through to supervisor Lele Nela took notes of updated complaint I asked for notes to be read back to me before transferring me Nela did an off the top of their head summary instead of reading from notes Hialton (deputy team leader) explained in full to Hialton Hialton explained the supplier is separate from currys Hialton explained that the manager call back was in fact 15:00-18:00 and the associate was incorrect Hialton explained that they would resolve this internally, as they don't know why I was given the wrong timeframe, and no email was sent in response to the automatic email Hialton said they would send an additional email I would include the end but limited characters prevents that...the issue was not resolved until 20/10/25, and even then was only given a "£20" egift card as apparently that is what my time is worth

Well folks, back in October 2014, I was seeking a good new computer and at PC World in Plymouth I…read morecame across am Asus All-in-One ET2020 PC for just over £300. I purchased the new computer after thinking about it for a few days, and also decided to take the care plan at £4 per month believing that it would give me all round protection should anything happen. Well on the 17th February 2015, the worst did happen when the PC developed a fault with the TV tuner card. I duly took it back armed with my care plan agreement and all receipts to the PC World Plymouth store where I was greeted by an awful Scottish Knowhow assistant who kept insisting that it had to go back to Asus and that it would take 28 days. I told him that my care plan guaranteed me a repair or replacement within 14 days, that is what I have been paying for each month. I had to get the assistant manager involved, who quite frankly was not much more help, but he did agree to send it to their own repair centre in Newark, and he assured me that it would be repaired within 14 days, probably coming back a lot sooner. Now the care plan also provides a like for like loan pc, but they did not have any at the store. I needed my computer for work and without it I would be loosing £80 per day in income, so I agreed that they could provide a loan pc delivered to me the next day. Well that did happen on the 18th February 2015, but the loan was a useless antiquated laptop. I could not use this for my work so found myself loosing even more income, and I was not happy. Now we move on to Saturday 20th February 2015, I found out upon calling Knowhow that the PC was being sent back to me, not repaired as the repair centre in Newark said it had to go to Asus. My argument is why o why was I paying £4 per month for an useless care plan. I complained to the store manager at PC World Plymouth to after much argument agreed to refund me my money paid for the PC but not for the care plan. Now I thought that would be the end of the matter, oh no, because on the 22nd February 2015 Knowkow delivered the PC back to me, yes the PC that the store manager refunded on just two days before. By this time I was preparing a court claim against PC World for my lost income, cost of calls and full reimbursement of the care plan. I sent their head office an email on the 22nd February 2015 stating that I would be withholding the PC they mistakenly delivered back to me in lieu of my claim against them, and offered then a settlement where the damages claimed would cover the cost of the PC, with the known fault at a reduced cost. Well on the 27th February 2015 I get a phone call from the assistant manager of PC World Plymouth accusing me of theft and deception, far from the truth, so to protect myself duly delivered the PC mistakenly delivered to me, into his arms, realty felt like ramming it down his throat. So you see dear British people, not only do they take your money for a care plan they had no intention to honour, they then go and blame the customer for their own mistakes and then threaten the customers saying that the customer has broken the law. I leave it for you to draw your own conclusions on this one, but please, please, stay well clear of PC World, Currys, Carphone Warehouse, Knowhow and any other company associated with them. You have been warned.
