I particularly like their gift workshops where your child is engaged in multiple fun, creative art projects and comes home with terrific handmade presents for the holidays that are individually hand wrapped. In all seriousness, I don't know what was more impressive: the great art my kiddo produced, or the fact that she beautifully wrapped her own artwork/gifts. They have some really great ideas for kids classes that are simply not cookie cutter. The classes are effectively done: just in time for presents for the holidays. Not a soap carving, macaroni necklace or potholder in sight, these are actually some pretty unique, one of a kind treasures. I appreciate that they stretch the envelope of things that kids can make beyond the normal and routine --here kids can make a tile mosaic, a beautiful decopage bowl, or sugar skulls for Day of the Dead. Some pretty creative stuff. We've signed up for a lot of art classes, and are not fans of the "draw this" school of art instruction, but prefer a fun, truly creative class. This place importantly gets a thumbs up for fun from my little customer.

The teacher, Ms. Nikki, is truly phenomenal and has a special gift for connecting with kids and helping them believe in their own creativity the studio is warm, welcoming, and safe, and kids are encouraged to be themselves, try new things, and make bold creative choices without fear of "messing up." Class sizes are small, so our daughter gets plenty of individual attention and guidance while still enjoying a fun group atmosphere with other young artists. She comes home after each class proud of what she's created, using real art materials and techniques that make her feel like a "real artist." Over time, we've watched her confidence grow right along with her skills, from learning new mediums to experimenting with color, shading, and detail in ways she never would have tried on her own. She looks forward to every class, and we love seeing how much joy and calm art brings her at the start of a busy week. My kids love going there, have learned quite a lot of art history while making art projects that connect with the theme of the class. All sorts of art media are explored including painting, drawing, paper making, pottery wheel, hand formed clay projects and glazing, even Jackson Pollack style splatter painting on a large tarp outdoors! Once a guest artist came in and talked about her paintings, and I hear that field trips to art museums are in the planning stages. His studio is so cool; its filled with his original sculptures which are absolutely mind blowing!! They are beautiful and creative which made me wish I could take classes there on a routine basis. I took a wheel throwing class with him and absolutely loved it!! I was having problems centering and with a few tweaks he totally changed how I approached the clay. His methodology is easier for me to grasp and retain. I think he would be an awesome instructor for any type of hand building, sculpture or wheel throwing! The studio had a creative and welcoming vibe which made me want to return!

I've been glazing ceramics and doing some handbuilding since I was a kid, but always wanted to learn the wheel. I took one wheel class, had a blast and decided to sign up for an 8-week class- and then another. Dirk is an outstanding, patient teacher and a fun, upbeat guy. I learned so many new things from him and the other students, who had different skill sets at all levels. The studio is such a welcoming environment, I really looked forward to class as my outlet each week. If it were possible I would still be taking these classes, but I moved to Pittsburgh. With Dirk's teaching and advice I was able to set up a mini studio at home where I'm still handbuilding, throwing and glazing. But I still miss the great teaching and company at Dahl Arts. Take a class here- you won't regret it!

I found out about Alley Bell Music in my local moms group on fb. I never thought my baby would be…read moreold enough to engage in a music class but I'm so glad we took a chance. We joined for a mixed ages demo class in the summer with Ms. Elizabeth (she was wonderful!) At 4 months my son was the youngest one there, and I didn't know what to expect but he was so engaged and interested in seeing the other kids dance and sing. We signed up for the babies class (0-8 months) for the fall semester and he was 5 months when it started. We are about to wrap up this semester and I only have great things to say. The babies class is small, with 5 babies max in a class. It's very clean and Covid protocol is taken into consideration where everyone needs to show proof of vaccination. Ms. Sarah brings a warm energy with prompts to engage our babies through music and play. Sometimes it's an instrument to play music with, interact with silk scarves, dancing for your baby, and more. My son loves the drums. As a first time mom I highly recommend Music Together. It's a great way to play and connect with your baby through songs, have social exposure to other babies, and meet other parents, I even made a great mom friend! I really love how kids can continue taking these classes into their preschool years and learn new original songs with special instruments for the semester highlighted in the songs. We look forward to many more music classes at Alley Bell!

Every song has a different activity involved and keeps the kids engaged, though if they decide to wander around during that is completely ok! They get to play instruments, throw scarves in the air and be as noisy as they want. While I am not normally one to sing and dance in a crowd of people i felt totally comfortable doing it here, in fact I may have had more fun than the kids! If you are looking for an activity to do with your toddler, do this one, it is awesome!
