Chicken Plate from Zaytoona Food Truck - disappointing for $18.00.
Michael A.

Made it a Saturday event the past 2 weekends in a row to go to this Farmer's Market. Wanted to see what they had, which food vendors were available and if there were any new items to check out. Got an Iced Caramel Macchiato from Chayen Coffee and tried out a new Chicken Plate from the Zaytoona Mediterranean Food Truck. The drink was very tasty and refreshing on a sizzling hot day today (8/03/24). Browsed around the different vendors who were present, but didn't really buy anything else. The big donut vendor ran out of giant donuts and carrot cakes, so was a little disappointed by that since we were in the mood for some... Parking was a hassle, as always at this location since people do not know how to get around the bloody parking lot. Anyway, after getting home, tasted the Mediterranean food and was sorely dissatisfied! Chicken was salty, hummus was totally bland, fries were soggy since they had put the chicken on top for some odd reason and the tzatziki wasn't that flavorful at all. I would give a 2 out of 5 for the food business since it cost $18.00 and couldn't finish it due to the saltiness of the chicken! Tried something new and felt pretty disappointed by it, as the food quality didn't meet my expectations. Have had much better Mediterranean food elsewhere... This is a decent Farmer's Market, so I would recommend others to visit. Has a wide variety of food vendors, small businesses and choices for your liking.

What a great farmer's market. It's a bit far from my home but I went to meet a friend. So glad I did! Loads of parking and big open walkways. A large area with tables underneath a covered area to eat food purchases. I found some delicious heirloom tomatoes, pears, cucumber and an onion. Decided to treat myself to some gourmet churro flavored popcorn. Each vendor was friendly and excellent service. Loads of food trucks here with tamales, tacos, and many donut choices. It was worth the drive and I recommend it! Like many farmers markets these days it had a huge section selling other items too from candles, chairs, purses, dips, plants and specialty flowers. Enjoy. Cheers and SYPOP.

This is one of the best farmers markets I've ever been to. Having lived in Central California, we had Friday night farmers markets in the middle of downtown. Barbecues and tons of food and lots of parking. Because of limited space at this location there is not always a ton of parking. What I like is the diversity of vendors and how clean the venue is every week. I am within walking distance of this location and try to get here at least twice a month. The products are great, the vendors are friendly and the pricing seems to be in line competitively with similar products. Great location and very safe. Highly recommend it!

Market opened on Sat and we've come for many years. I have to say that May 6.2023 may have been the best opening day EVER. More vendors, better organization and tons of traffic. We enjoy supporting local vendors and small businesses in the area. The addition to double the food trucks, they had no open booth space which made for an enjoyable morning of walking. The renovated market places has winding paths to take you to each booth and make it feel comfortable without too much clutter.m The fruit and veggie stands were missing this opening day, but it is likely to early in the season for good variety. I highly recommend for all ages, and pets are welcomed! I reccomend

What a fun and very busy farmers market! Well worth the 25 minute drive through the mountain and forests, glad to catch the last one for the season. Lots of vendors, selling produce, bakery goods, candles, flowers, and plenty of food to eat or to go. Looking forward to trying the tamales from Haughty Tamale, couldn't resist trying so of the delicious heirloom cherry tomatoes on the drive back. Slowly filling up my very empty fridge with some good stuff. Looking forward to to next season! Where the next new adventure? Yelping, God bless and Cheers!

After several people told us about it, we decided to visit the market for the first time at the end of the season last year. We were impressed with the layout and loved the setting and the overall organization. Great vendors are offering all kinds of products. It's safe to say that there is something for everyone. Great place to spend your Saturday morning. We loved it!!

Many flower vendors

It's back and bigger than ever! Larger location and expanded parking makes this Saturday market a good place to eat breakfast or lunch and pick up fresh vegetables and baked goods. Several choices for coffee. The consistently longest line was for Nina's Salsa; I will need to try that next time. 9-2. Large bouquets of flowers:$20

This is Des Moines, Washington and not Iowa. This Des Moines is part of the Seattle metro area. This market we really just stumbled across and didn't plan it. So that was a nice perk! We really only intended to explore the downtown area and the pier that we spotted. This market is cute. I think we like the ones in Tacoma a bit better as it is a bit small but they had a lot of food items from vendors that we haven't seen in Tacoma. From here we spotted some Portuguese tarts and since this is the eve that I am writing this review before we go to Spain and Portugal I figured I'd add this review before we depart tomorrow. We had this trip on the horizon and knew to try them here so we could compare them once we got to Portugal. The tarts were great and then we got some handheld flat bread pizza that was excellent from another vendor! We got cookies as well and are still working on them! So despite this was a smaller market we bought plenty! We'd love to come back sometime whenever we can make it happen!

Some grocery stores really stretch the definition of "local" to somehow mean selling fruits from California, but this market enforces a tighter definition of local meaning exclusively from Washington state farmers. The market is well spaced so that while it's busy, you're not packed cheek to jowl, and there's room to form orderly queues. The only downside of this market and the main reason I don't visit more often is that getting here poses some challenges. The light rail doesn't go here (I'm still waiting for a legitimate ETA for the Ballard Link Extension, really, how long can 8 miles take??) and finding parking is a nightmare. The other reason is that I'm always so tempted to over buy the hot foods and bakery goods since everything smells so amazing here!

Ballard Farmers Market was my favorite farmers market in the greater Seattle area for many years…read more Recently, the booth count seems to be less than before, with restaurants occupying the street space (understandably) along two blocks. Subsequently, I lost some interest since I don't live nearby. While I was in Ballard on a recent Sunday, I rushed to the market to see if it was still open. Officially, it was not; they closed at 2pm. But they were still packing up. I believe they are not allowed to sell after the official closing time; I asked one vendor, they declined. The staff wants the streets to reopen as soon as possible. As I walked the two blocks, several vendors still have some items on display on their tables. With a bit of wink, wink, accidentally dropping cash on the table and accidentally taking things off the table, I walked away with goodies. I won't say what I bought to avoid anyone getting into trouble. Street parking was easy enough nearby on a Sunday.

I'm shocked by the rating of this market, but then again, most of the scores are older. My goal was…read moreto check out most of the county's markets this summer, but I got a late start and some locations I ruled out completely based on the time and day or the market. Some neighborhoods are just problematic to navigate. I don't know if this was a bad week to attend or we arrived to early, but we had a couple issues that made the visit unpleasant. My first issue was selection. At every other market we visited, there were plenty of fruit, vegetable and juice stands, as well as fresh breads and other artisanal crafts. Here, half of those options were not available and the ones that were, were in limited supply. Now, most markets limit themselves to about 4 hours with the exception of the weekend markets, but this was an all day market. We arrived about 30 minutes after open short of the food vendors that were still setting up or cooking, I didn't see anyone else setting up or spaces reserved for them. My final knock. Every other market we've visited or looked into had fully functional websites that listed participating vendors and links to their websites if they have one. This market has a link via the city website that list only the time and date of the market with information on how to register to sell. It took some effort to get here and ultimately ended up being a waste of time, energy and effort. Completely disappointed.

It's more of a community bizarre, and the pricing is aggressive to say the least. At a recent market, there was a seller selling tomatoes for $11 a pound. How are you selling direct to the public at a rate at almost 4x local stores. Matter of fact, I was in Chinatown this week and a seller was selling tomatoes for $1.40 a pound. No, the Chinatown tomatoes weren't as round or as pretty as the farmers market, but I suspect once sliced they taste the same. Puyallup is a hike, but reviews were plenty and positive. It is so far the largest market we've seen. There were plenty of choices. What I have learned is to walk the property before spending. It's easy to see something you like and buy it only to find another vendor selling for less. I can easily give this place 5 stars for selection, but pricing is a single star. Chocolate at $60 per pound. Jerky at $50 per pound and a glass of lemonade for $8. If you are bringing your signature items to market, be fair in how you price. I can get a gallon of lemonade for less than $5 at Safeway, a pound of jerky from Oberto for about $30 and a pound of candy for about $30 at See's, even closer to $20 if you buy certificates from Costco. I love to support the little guy, but I suspect short of the farmers, some of these sellers are doing very well for themselves.
