We visited our RV manufacturer - Alliance and it proved to be a rewarding experience. The campground itself is rather standard. The services work fine. I had called and spoken to Robbie, then we exchanged SEVERAL texts. I explained exactly what i was looking for,He told me there was a kitchenette that would be available the day we needed it. 2 days before we were to leave and make the 2+ hour trip,he texted to tell me that wouldn't be available! BUT he supposedly had another temporary room we could stay in until the other was ready. I repeatedly requested pics of the room,he would side step it. I figured he was just a busy guy. Upon arrival,I got out and had the cash in hand. He was extremely hyper and told us "don't worry about me right now. Just go settle in,run errands and relax. I have a slight sewer issue I'm taking care of so I'll catch up with you after you get back." We went to the room. Glass broken in the window with cardboard covering it,no a/c, but he said he had a brand new one to put in. Originally we were to pay $600 for the "kitchenette" but Robbie or Roddie (goes by both) told us that since he didn't have what he'd promised us he'd reduce it to $550. The room had previous visitors dirty towels piled up,dirty bed linens in a pile and a strange shag style blanket that was dirty on the bed. No sheet or pillow on the bed! We were exhausted but had some running to do so we figured whatever and went to the store. Came back and nothing had been done,no ac,no clean towels NOTHING! My husband went to talk to him about this and see if he would drop the rent due to everything being all wrong. "Robbie/Roddie" told him $300 would be ok, then went on to say cps checks to see if there's families staying there. He started asking really personal questions about us and when he got frustrated he called the police!!! We were already packing to leave since he didn't take the money yet and he wasn't going to make anything right. The cops pull up as we are packing up and "Robbie/Roddie" called him (the officer) by his first name and they were talking and laughing. The officer never asked me our side. So I asked him what the owner said. Both the owner and the officer got extremely irritated with me for asking. The cop shined his light directly into my eyes, I asked him to please take it off my eyes because it glared on my glasses and I couldn't see. The cop began yelling at me,acting in a threatening manner. Telling me to "shut your mouth! No I will not,I want to see you! Do not tell me how to do my job do you understand!!??" This was all in front of my kids, one of which has autism. I asked for the officers card,he snapped at me that no,he doesn't have one and mumbled his name to me. So I asked him again for his name and still didn't understand him. We finished up packing, and he sat there watching us. He then followed us as we drove away. I was seriously in fear for my children's and my life the way that officer was acting! I didn't even strap down the stuff on the roof, I drove away until I didn't see the officer anymore and pulled over to cry my eyes out and try to strap things up. So we were left, hours away from anything familiar, with no place to lay our heads. It's 4:40am and we just made it to a safe place that allows our 2 cats. We're exhausted beyond words! That Berrien county sheriff is in cahoots with that Grimey owner of the motel/trailer park. Something needs to be done about this place! I cannot believe an officer of the law would stand by while an innocent family was taken advantage of right in front of him and he didn't care. So, seriously, by all means at any cost PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

The food service crew was also. Even the room I was in was above average and had the bathtub I need to soak. But the room didn't have an alarm clock or sound machine that should have been normal for a place like this. While the TV had a very good range of channels, the lack of a sleep timer again adds to stars being subtracted. Not having a microwave in regular rooms should be a no no for resort hotels. The food was average at best. Nothing to write home about especially the quiche and the muffins. If they want more stars, it is the little things that matter.

My favorite part was watching the sunrise over the marina from the balcony in the morning. It was a vibe. The room also had a fireplace which came in handy since it was around 40 degrees on the night we were there. Overall the room was nice and the view made it worth it. While there were some great amenities, they didn't quite match up to what I was expecting. They recently opened up The Living Room area in the lobby which has breakfast in the morning and snacks and drinks in the evening. They also gave us drink tickets as well to use on coffee or drinks. Breakfast starts at 8am, but I am an early riser and was hoping for a coffee while I watched the sunrise. I did make a tea with the electric kettle in the room. The lobby/Living Room set up is perfect for drinks, not so much for a family having breakfast. They do sell local Michigan snacks, but you have to ask at the front desk and they have to find them. I would've just preferred a vending machine or an easier way to get snacks between 8pm and 8am when the Living Room is not open. The pool and jacuzzi were great, but we did have a hard time finding them. The indoor pool entrance was through an unmarked door on the second floor so it took us a few minutes of exploring to find it. I don't think the indoor pool was heated, but it wasn't too bad. The hotel is very centrally located so it was just a short drive to the beach, restaurants, and shopping.

We encountered so many issues on finding lots that will let you stay overnight. Most lots want you go shortly after home games. We love this lot because it's car & RV parking. If we have friends and family who are just coming for the game and driving separate they can park with us verses having to find a "car only" lot. Location is just a small walk to campus. Easy in and out during events. The gentleman who runs the lot is actually on site pretty much the entire time. The parking lot has it's own port-a-potty which is very clean and stocked with TP. You are parked with enough space to spread out with your tailgate gear, tables, grills and even an evening fire if you bring firewood. The lot owner usually calls to confirm a few days prior and is super accommodating! Highly recommend the Pendle Rd. lot if you need event parking for RV's or even cars while in South Bend.

The docents gave us recommendations for a great family diner to grab breakfast down the street (can't remember the name unfortunately) and also suggested a self guided driving tour called the Heritage Trail. We received a free CD that directs you in about an hour and a half long loop (or all day if you take your time at each attraction) to all of the sights and attractions of Elkhart county and the surrounding Amish countryside. My boyfriend and I are young people and it was exciting and fun for us too so put your notions aside and just do it' It takes you through the major cute towns in the area and also to off the beaten country spots like Bonneville Mill Park (the historic mill is open and active Weds-Sunday) which was a real treat. It goes into historical detail of many of the spots and the directions were easy to follow. The visitors center also gave us coupons and had tons of brochures on local attractions. The quilt gardens were also a great tip from the docent to take a look at. We grabbed delicious donuts at an Amish bakery and wandered for hours around the Shipshewana flea market (open Tues/Weds). Even brought the pup along.

It's walking distance from the beach and the main strip. We parked our car when we arrived and never touched it all weekend. The hotel also provides bikes to rent but we found that most places are walking distance and the roads/paths are not very bike friendly. Check in was super simple. Our room was very clean and updated. I wish they had smart TVs to connect to Netflix but we didn't spend much time watching TV anyways so it wasn't a big issue. The restaurant did seemed to get a bit noisy at night which drifted up to our room. The breakfast baskets were a BIG hit! The frittatas tasted so good! The fruit cups were also so fresh. I tried the prosciutto croissant on our last day which hit the spot. The quality of food was top notch - just wish we were able to order more! I had an appointment at the spa as well during our stay. The spa staff is super friendly. I used the robe and spa slippers provided in our room and spent some time in the salt water pool and hot tub before my appointment.

The decor is very nice and the hotel has an overall just nice classy aesthetic with a beautiful actual working fireplace in the lobby. A HUGE one, they were nice enough to let us check in early. This is huge if you have children especially ones that need to nap. The hotel was super clean. Our room was spotless. The king suite offered so much space for the 3 of us. The location is pretty central to most things you'd want to visit in the area. The in-room breakfast makes it super easy in the morning to have a stress free bite to eat in the AM. All the food we enjoyed seemed a step above typical "hotel food" Another HUGE plus, it was basically empty the day we visited. We had the entire pool to ourselves. My 3 year old was in heaven. This alone was amazing, lol Ok so now the cons: The hotel is super DARK inside. It's just more geared towards adults. The room was painted black and also super dark. Just took away from the beautiful sunshine that was outside the walls of the hotel, Advertised in the room for smores roasting but was told by the front desk they stopped doing that. Advertised for Ben and Jerries Hotline which is another added cost when you are already paying so much for the hotel. Not much for families to do here. Or if there was activities or things to do, no one really explained them. All in all would stay here again being mindful of the caveats!!!!
