The onion soup was really cheesy which I like and the broth wasn't overly salty. And the surprise of the meal was the onion rings - I usually don't like overly battered rings but this batter was sweet, almost like uber fried donut, which I liked. The strawberry rhubarb pie to end the meal was packed, though just a bit too sweet. Overall service was friendly and efficient. The Codmothers has offers you just can't refuse. Parking: There's parking on the streets and it's metered until 4:00. I think it's a dollar an hour. There's lots of free parking one street over next to the river. It's a good place to park cuz you could grab something here and go and eat it at the picnic tables along the River Bank boardwalk The building: You woke up a couple of wooden stairs and open the door and you're in a small waiting area. There's a heater with rotisserie chicken in it and a rack with the bread that they've made for the day that you can select. There's a freezer next to an order desk you can grab what you need from the freezer. And the treats and everything else you order at the counter and they make it fresh, with sandwiches, or put your dinners together. You can look on Facebook and they post their weeks menu on Sundays but they also post daily. If you're walking by they have a chalkboard with the specials There's a fridge full of treats and salads. Treats like butter tarts, lemon meringue tarts, carrot cake, brownies, etc. And salads like macaroni salad potato salad pasta salad. My favorite is a pasta salad with broccoli and bacon. It is delicious Personally I like taco Tuesdays. Lunch is a taco special. A lot of times Wednesday dinner special is cabbage rolls and they are my absolute favorite. Fridays dinner is a really good dinner. It usually contains a combination of half chicken and ribs, sometimes both if you're lucky. And occasionally they'll have a special turkey with all the fixings dinner. That's a really good deal There's also a freezer with all the foods and soups that they make inside. We were hoping to sit out there and enjoy lunch with the wonderful view but were foiled by the weather. Next time we are going to park ourselves outside! The server was new and super sweet. Very attentive and ready to answer any questions. I got the fish and chips and my cousin got the cheese steak ( I think it might be called something else, sorry) I must say the fish and chips were absolutely perfect, moist and succulent, not greasy and limp like you sometimes get. The fries were just the way I like them too, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I had tried a bite of the sandwich and it was also really great. We decided after hiking we would go here for dinner and it was a great choice. Unfortunately due to Covid, they were running on 1 server (the manager) and 1 chef and it was quite busy. Even though it took a bit longer to get our food, the manager never appeared stressed and maintained a pleasant attitude even with the delays. When we initially ordered, my boyfriend and I were worried the food wouldn't be great because 1 chef was cooking for all tables... we couldn't have been more wrong. We ordered a seafood appetizer, can't remember the name of it but it was beyond delicious. It was mushrooms, shrimp, lobster and crab baked with cheese in a garlic and lemon sauce. The sauce wasn't too heavy and was perfect to dip the bread in. I ordered the spicy beef orange ginger stir fry. It was quite spicy which I love and had a ton of veggies and beef. My only regret is not asking for the steak to be left medium. Other than that it was the perfect dish. My boyfriend ordered a chicken dish that had peppers and mushrooms on it, Alfredo pasta and veggies. 10/10 dish. Really wish we had the dragonfly close to home.
