There were plenty of pumps for an easy fill-up. Inside, the store was bright and clean, with clean bathrooms as well. We were tempted by the "Fountain Drinks 89-Cents, Any Size" signs, and grabbed a round for the fam', plus some final candies for the road home. But at the checkout different signs read that the 89-Cents deal was only for gas loyalty club members. Since we don't have this chain at home we though awwe, full-price sodas it is. But the kind clerk without question overrode the register to give us road-trip'sters the stellar soda deal. What a sweetheart! We are planning another fall roadtrip to the Independence area, and will stop here again to fill-up, and sign up for the gas club before we do so we can legit partake in bargain sodas next time. :-)

I begged him to call the cops so I could prove that it was a real ID and he said doesn't matter I won't sell to you leave my store. I had ordered right around $20 worth of food from their Krispy Krunchy Chicken establishment here which consisted of two large side dishes of mac-n-cheese, a Polish boy sandwich, a large order of fried okra, and the 8 piece dark meat with three cans of soda all coming in at just under $20. A nice deal to be honest and the food was good as it usually is. What makes this WHOLE visit upsetting was the rude (and disgusting) young store clerk at the counter. After receiving my order from Krispy Krunchy, which is a separate counter, I carried my food over to the store clerk counter and said that I was going to pick out three cans of soda. He looked impatient, kind of rolled his eyes and said "Go ahead". Well, on my way back from the fridge, I noticed the coffee counter and doughnut section. I saw the wax paper they use to pick up doughnuts and I figured since there weren't any plates at my friend's parents house we were working at, those wax paper sheets with napkins could make a nice place setting if there weren't any plates so I only grabbed 3 of them. Well, when I arrived back at the counter I placed my drinks and the wax paper on the counter with the food and this store clerk was rubbing his eyes! Now, I know what pink eye is but I also know what "red, bloodshot eyes" can mean as well if you understand what I'm hinting at. Still, rubbing your eyes and handling food is disgusting and appalling! I am just so lucking everything was double bagged as I would have walked away right then and there if he even physically touched the food itself and not the bag. I also made sure to note where he touched and sanitized my hands as soon as possible. If that wasn't bad enough, he saw the three pieces of wax paper and picked one of them up (I don't want that one now guy, it's yours!). He said, "What's this?" in a kind of confused and upset tone. I said, "We don't have plates where we are and those would make a great substitute for a plate with a napkin." Well, this store clerk put the wax paper down, rubbed his eyes and actually had the absolute disgrace to tell me "I'm going to have to charge you 25 cents a piece for those, I can't just give those to you!" all the while rubbing his eyes and not even looking at me until he was done speaking. Disgusting, appalling and rude! I left them there and said, "Okay then." and paid for my food and left. I was completely upset that a $20 order did not warrant three pieces of wax paper to a paying customer who has been giving her business to this establishment for 3 years now! Unbelievable! If the food wasn't any good, I would give this place one star and never return but because the food has been decent so far along with the prices being fair, they still deserve at least two stars for that. Still, I think it will be a LONG time before I return to this establishment even though we like the food.

Frantic, I walked in and ask the two gentlemen working if they were willing to allow me to venmo/cahsapp money to them directly and then pay for my gas. No questions asked he ran out to get his wallet and was super helpful and didn't even make me feel uncomfortable. With how people can be these days, I was so grateful and relieved they were willing to be so kind. Highly recommend this place as a trustworthy establishment. Thanks again guys!
