Bippert's goes all in the fall, thriving with Halloween decorations, pumpkins, squash, rides for the children and animatronic decor. They have painted Buffalo Bills support pumpkins and it's all really nice, worth a stop. * For Thanksgiving you need one of their pies on your table! Pies you say? Ah yes, for about $22 a pie or so (they're large) you can order pies for your Thanksgiving and they'll notify you when to pick them up. There's always a long line for pick up so get there early! They have mixed berry and coconut creme pie which are my personal favorite but they also have cherry, raspberry, blueberry, apple, rhubarb, and you can find peach in the summer. There are a couple other flavors, I forget but they also have zucchini bread, carrot cake, pastries, cookies and muffins. Yes, they're delicious. Another reason I come to Bippert's is because I eat a lot of eggs and they carry organic local farm fresh eggs 3 dozen for $16. Yes, I will buy their eggs versus going to the grocery store because there are more recalls on eggs than I care to discuss right now. Buy from your local farmer before the store people! Bippert's carries some fresh produce (whatever is seasonal) and frozen meat. I saw today that they had seedless watermelon and I got sad. I wanted to ask them where they get their watermelon but I forgot. I expected a farm to have seeded but I guess not. What is this world coming to if you can't even get a seeded watermelon at the farm. Anyway, visit them when you can, they're open year-round!

Its in a parking lot but you can park there and walk right up. There are a variety of vendors and priced nicely. And once you are done at the market you can take a walk on Main Street to see all the local shops and restaurants. Nice day in EA!

Best price per pound of any CSA, by a long shot. $330 gets you five months of brown paper bags brimming with organic veggies. 2. Tons of pickup locations, so you can get it anywhere. 3. Just about everything is regular main stream veggies - lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, onions, spinach, zucchini, winter squash, etc. Except for the kohlrabi, I knew what everything was the first time I saw it. 4. Melons are included. Most CSA's have no fruit or it is a separate fee. They are working on some orchards, too. 5. The pick up locations are people's porches, so the veggies arrive and you can get them at your leisure. Depending on your pick-up site, you can get them as late as Sunday morning, which is great if you're gone for the weekend. Our host even puts it in the fridge if you let her know ahead of time and puts it back out at the pre-arranged time. 6. You get to visit the farm once to pick up all the vegetables for your group. The farm is great to see, you meet some Porters, can see their sheep AND you get to pick from whatever extra produce they have that week that didn't divide evenly among the shares. 7. To date, they have never run out of share. You can sign up last minute where as most other shares sell out months ahead of time. 8. There is an early bird discount if you sign up before April 15. Pick up is Saturday after 11am, which is a pro for some and con for others. Sometimes they post the veggies ahead of time which is nice if you were planning a trip to the farmers market before you pick up. If I were to make one change, it would be to allow people to skip a week and make it up later which Native Offerings does. I've got no complaints. I love this CSA. Your pick-up location might not have great parking, but you can't blame the farm. You can get a free guest bag if you want to test it out. Info is on the website.

Something about an apple cider donut just screams Fall for me and they're so good, I feel like I could eat a dozen by myself. They also have a bunch of Fall and Halloween decor here for sale which is right around the corner so we checked out all that too. The truth is, in the past, it was never my favorite spot for buying fruit and vegetables. But now, I think the place has simply become one of the best in the area. In spring, you can buy seasonal plants; perennials and annuals, including hanging flower baskets. In the autumn, they offer the best ever collection of pumpkin varieties, and potted garden mums. This week, I plan to try out the "Produce Box" offer. I wonder if I'll manage to get one, since it looks like they're usually all sold out pretty fast.

A cup of English Breakfast tea and I was right back at my Nana's breakfast table! In addition to the crumpets, we ordered beef & onion pies, steak pies, chicken korma pies and slices; even Cornish pasties. They were all delicious and just as I imagined they would be. The pies had buttery, flakey puff pastry crusts with rich, flavorful fillings. (if I have any complaint at all, it's that the heating instructions are quite small and sometimes hard to read, especially if the ink blurs due to moisture when frozen.) As soon as I ordered, I realized, no one would be home on the dates it would arrive so I sent Parker's an email. Within an hour or two, I heard back from Jessica who had already rescheduled our shipment for a week later as requested. The package arrived right on time in perfect condition, packed in dry chill packs. Great customer service! You have to try these folks. We will be placing a new order soon.
