I said. no thanx, not on a sub! then they were out of turkey, as she said nobody had thawed it. so we ordered a cheeseburger sub to share and 3 shakes. wanted roll toasted, nope. and hamburger had a weird taste so the rest went to their local house cat. the cat ate the meat, so I guess it wasn't turning all that bad yet. dad's shake came, and the girl said. o, im sorry. the cover dont fit right, I had to go back in to get another shake cup and cover to dump it into. seriously? the greenhouse is another story. what a shame. hundreds of neglected plants, broken containers tipped over, dead leaves and plants everywhere. what an embarrassment. the owner and the staff just don't care, its obvious. I would be ashamed ti let any customer into that greenhouse. I fou d one healthy plant I would of purchased. but was told, that's not for sale. really???? they wont be open long unless somebody steps up o. one more thing, they no longer take your :punch: cards. even if full for a free small ice cream. several people have told me they've complained about this

Bippert's goes all in the fall, thriving with Halloween decorations, pumpkins, squash, rides for the children and animatronic decor. They have painted Buffalo Bills support pumpkins and it's all really nice, worth a stop. * For Thanksgiving you need one of their pies on your table! Pies you say? Ah yes, for about $22 a pie or so (they're large) you can order pies for your Thanksgiving and they'll notify you when to pick them up. There's always a long line for pick up so get there early! They have mixed berry and coconut creme pie which are my personal favorite but they also have cherry, raspberry, blueberry, apple, rhubarb, and you can find peach in the summer. There are a couple other flavors, I forget but they also have zucchini bread, carrot cake, pastries, cookies and muffins. Yes, they're delicious. Another reason I come to Bippert's is because I eat a lot of eggs and they carry organic local farm fresh eggs 3 dozen for $16. Yes, I will buy their eggs versus going to the grocery store because there are more recalls on eggs than I care to discuss right now. Buy from your local farmer before the store people! Bippert's carries some fresh produce (whatever is seasonal) and frozen meat. I saw today that they had seedless watermelon and I got sad. I wanted to ask them where they get their watermelon but I forgot. I expected a farm to have seeded but I guess not. What is this world coming to if you can't even get a seeded watermelon at the farm. Anyway, visit them when you can, they're open year-round!

Best price per pound of any CSA, by a long shot. $330 gets you five months of brown paper bags brimming with organic veggies. 2. Tons of pickup locations, so you can get it anywhere. 3. Just about everything is regular main stream veggies - lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, onions, spinach, zucchini, winter squash, etc. Except for the kohlrabi, I knew what everything was the first time I saw it. 4. Melons are included. Most CSA's have no fruit or it is a separate fee. They are working on some orchards, too. 5. The pick up locations are people's porches, so the veggies arrive and you can get them at your leisure. Depending on your pick-up site, you can get them as late as Sunday morning, which is great if you're gone for the weekend. Our host even puts it in the fridge if you let her know ahead of time and puts it back out at the pre-arranged time. 6. You get to visit the farm once to pick up all the vegetables for your group. The farm is great to see, you meet some Porters, can see their sheep AND you get to pick from whatever extra produce they have that week that didn't divide evenly among the shares. 7. To date, they have never run out of share. You can sign up last minute where as most other shares sell out months ahead of time. 8. There is an early bird discount if you sign up before April 15. Pick up is Saturday after 11am, which is a pro for some and con for others. Sometimes they post the veggies ahead of time which is nice if you were planning a trip to the farmers market before you pick up. If I were to make one change, it would be to allow people to skip a week and make it up later which Native Offerings does. I've got no complaints. I love this CSA. Your pick-up location might not have great parking, but you can't blame the farm. You can get a free guest bag if you want to test it out. Info is on the website.

The farmers (brothers Trystan and Max Sandvoss) have certainly put their time in as to how to run a clean farm and properly care for all of the creatures (goats) living there. You can tell they take care to make sure each animal is properly cared for with good diets, clean shelters, and open rotated grazing spaces. As for the cheese. If you love cheese (even if you just like cheese), you MUST try ALL cheese coming out of this Creamery. I have yet to meet one that I don't like. Even if you don't like goat cheese at all, try the Chèvre. It is so ridiculously light, creamy, and NOT "GOATY"; it's exactly the way it should be. Because they take such care in making sure this cheese is made properly and fresh you are ensured a great cheese every time. New to Farm this year is a Dairy CSA with several options to choose from: Full Dairy, Half, Cheese, and Yogurt shares available (detailed on their website). The milk comes from their family's farm down the road and is Whole (cream on the top) Jersey Milk; the yogurt is from this milk, yum! If you decide to take the workshop, it is a day well lived and worth every penny. You leave with a boatload of knowledge AND a cheese making kit. We received yogurt and granola for breakfast, a home-cooked meal for lunch (made by their mom- how cute is that?!!), each portion made with a different kind of their cheese (including one you make during the class!), dessert, AND cheese samples while you are taking the class! Get to this place and check it out. You won't regret it.

I was at Letchworth State Park's Fall Festival and goats caught my eye (it's a craft festival)…read more After wandering over to take some cute pictures, I realized it was a local cheese vendor when a friendly face asked if we wanted to try some. Finding out that the very people I was talking to were the owners/farmers and goats were some of the cheese contributors was a highlight to my day! The cheese was AMAZING. I had to stop myself from buying them out, perhaps it was lucky I was returning to Washington, DC the next day which prevented me or no one else would have been able to try such great FRESH cheese. They did provide me with a reusable cooler bag for me to take my cheeses on my flight back home. My cheeses made it back to the District and my husband, who is a big goat cheese aficionado, loved them. I haven't been a big goat cheese fan in the past but First Light's hits one out of the park. The next time I am in Buffalo I will be checking out First Light's market schedule to pick up more and I hope to take one of their cheese making classes too! A bonus: they take credit cards including American Express!
