Had my first inpatient surgery and went into it looking forward to staying here as I had heard great things about this hospital. I feel like I am a very easy going patient, I don't have high expectations but communication and cleanliness are my biggest things. I have had difficulties in the past with poor english speaking nurses and there is nothing worse then looking at junk on the floor and throughout the room and know I am stuck in bed and can't go over and throw things in the garbage, but shouldn't this just be expected. This experience was better then others with clear speaking nurses but the lazier nurses that left needle covers on y bed, garbage on the floor even my blood pressure couch just thrown on the chair so who moves that if I want to sit in the chair, I saw the thermometer dangling inches above the floor, I know they put covers on them but this is just sloppy. I need to share the name of the worse nurse I had B.J. I asked if someone would be available to help me take a walk after breakfast, repose...oh sure, so after breakfast ask for help and am told maybe after lunch, then asked after lunch and was told well your going to be going home today anyway so no walk. Then learned I am going to be discharged today, great news until it wasn't. 3 hours later am told that the hospital pharmacy filled my prescriptions that I would be going home with, but now they are closed (2:30 Sunday afternoon) Because of this my home pharmacy could not fill them as they had already been filled. So I am told I have to stay another night. Seriously? So ok, guess I will be going home Monday so Monday morning Dr comes through for morning rounds and I am told it will probably be after lunch until discharge, ok so repeat of Sunday I ask for a walk after breakfast (Physical therapy) I was told yes, someone would be in soon, 2 hours later asked for a walk again and am told we are bu8sy and you are going home today anyway. I was shocked!!! Isn't this a good thing that I am wanting to get some PT in. So finally about 1:30 nurse comes in and goes over discharge paperwork. Ok got it all covered calling my fiancé I am ready to go, then I look over the paperwork and see I am scheduled for a brain and spine appt then next page I see they have me on gabapentin, I hate that drug and nobody talked to me about adding it. Then look closer and see oh here's the problem, my name is now Cynthia. Now I am very concerned and just need to get out of here before a bigger mistake happens. WOW Hospital is where you need to have 100% trust. Pretty scary knowing that I put my trust in this place. read more

An amazing hospital, very thoughtful and very informative, the entire experience was like checking into a 5 star Luxary Hotel. We had a baby girl delivered in Maple Grove delivery and labour center by Dr Thayer, nurse Maddy where so incredible even with a little complication as baby gurl was 8lb4oz got a little stuck coming out which they quickly massaged her out. Thank you for brining suck a little bundle of joy into our lives. In the family care centre we checked in with nurses Ashley, Cassie, Maddy, Courtney looking after us 24/7 they where amazing nurses and very attentive and knowledgeable. We were truley blessed to have such incredible nurses looking after our baby gurl, I can strongly say they best nurses and Dr I've ever had looking after our birthing and this is my 3rd child. I recently needed outpatient surgery. It was my first surgery, so I was slightly nervous. But all the staff, from the front checkin to all the nurses to my doctor and anesthesiologist, were friendly and made me feel comfortable. In my pre-op room, they asked if I had any questions about the steps of the procedure, but I preferred to be ignorant and just wake up when it was all over. Pre-op and post-op instructions were communicated easily, and all of those questions were answered. I was able to have my "plus one" in the recovery room so that they could be coherent during verbal home care instructions. Written was given also. Overall, I feel like I received great care, and I'd be comfortable returning if needed. Also, to note: easy access from either 94 or 610. Adequate parking lots. Doors are clearly labeled, so you know which door to enter. Private waiting room for your "driver" to wait for you. There is a baby grand piano in the main atrium.... wonder if it ever gets played. read more

DON'T WALK, RUN FROM THIS HORRIBLE HOSPITAL! Worst hospital experience ever. I was there for bowel blockage. First off, they couldn't confirm it through a CT scan because they ran out of contrast dye. So per procedure, I had to go without food or water for 5 days. Then they talked about doing an endoscopy to get a camera down my throat to explore, so I said, I'm not sure I want that... but when I read about the procedure, I was SURE I did NOT want that. But then a 3:00 am they came into my room and said, "I'm here to take you to your endoscopy." which I promptly refused. Then on the second to the last day of living on IV fluids, they came in to take my blood pressure, again at 3 a.m. The nurse took my arm without saying anything as she thought I was sleeping. I was lying on my left side, so she used my right arm for the BP test. MAJOR PROBLEM: SHE DID THE BLOOD PRESSURE TEST ON THE SAME ARM AS THE IV, WHICH YOU'RE NEVER SUPPOSED TO DO AND SHE KNEW THAT, because she said, "Oh no! I'm so sorry! I wasn't supposed to take your blood pressure on that arm, but I did that because I didn't want to wake you up." (to get at my left arm). Well, the reason she was so sorry was because she totally blew out the main vein in my right arm, which made a pop, hurt, and made such a big bloody mess she had to call in more nurses to help with the situation. Anyway by the time I was due to be released I began asking about my collapsed vein, and now numb right hand, and the nurses and doctors were telling me, "Don't worry, it may re-open and it may not but either way you'll be okay." A few months later when I was still experiencing numbness in my right arm and hand, I contacted the hospital requesting, only that the knock a few hundred dollars of my bill. So they said they'd conduct a full and thorough investigation into this incident. Then when they concluded their investigation a few weeks later, they told me they were done and they've checked all of the notes on my log and that nobody had entered anything about blowing out a vein in the middle of the night. So, investigation closed. Of course I replied, did you really expect that a nurse who screws up in the middle of the night, is going to report that she did something you are not supposed to do causing my vein to blow out. I mean, if so, why doesn't she just write, "Fire me.". Anyway, a lawyer told me if this numbness and tingling is permanent, you deserve compensation. But of course, I have no way to prove anything happened when the hospital is lying that it never happened. But here it is, now two years later and the vein is still totally collapsed and my right forearm and hand are still numb, so the damage inflicted by this hospital's negligence and malpractice is obviously permanent. And I receive ZERO compensation, all because this p.o.s. hospital relies solely on the people accused of medical malpractice to self-report. How stupid is that!?! This is like a police officer being accused of beating up a child who was a smart aleck. So the police department conducts an investigation by looking at the officer's log book. And the investigation ends by saying, "We know nothing happened because the officer's log book doesn't say anything about his beating up a little boy." And all I asked for from the horrible hospital was a couple hundred bucks back. What a bunch of unprofessional, self-serving, a-holes running this joint. My daughter had the best experience delivering my first grand baby. Awesome nursing staff who are caring, attentive, and really care about the Mother and the baby. The hospital is beautiful and clean. I recommended Maple Grove Hospital to my daughter and she found an awesome doctor who performs deliveries here. I have experienced Maple Grove Hospital two times for surgeries and a few times for the emergency room (my children). All were great experiences. It has to be one of the best hospitals in the region, or even in the Twin Cities. On every visit all the staff staff have been professional and courteous. The hospital was built in 2009 and seems like new. read more

My son came in with a broken arm that needed to be reset. I had already been to two different hospitals with zero assistance. These guys are definitely the best. All of my kids Care will now be coming here for future follow ups. I would've recommend this place 100% over Children's Hospital And the mercy hospital in coon Rapids should be shut down. read more

I have had to (unfortunately) use a hospital ER many times in the past 10 years for a chronic heart condition. Maple Grove Hospital stands out as the best. I had to go in early this morning - right at shift change and was apprehensive as there were many cars in the ER parking lot and it seemed busier than I hoped for at that time of day. Whenever I have had to use this ER and walk in and tell them what my issue is [which is not immediately life-threatening] they promptly get me into the triage room and then to a room in the unit. Today was exceptional - RN Robin was exemplary! I worked in a hospital for 15 years and witnessed a lot of action in the ER and observed many, many nurses - there are not that many that really make you feel like they care and are on top of everything. Robin was and in spite of it being at an hour that she was literally suppose to be done with her night shift. A++. The nurse, Taylor, that took over for her - once she completely settled me, started an IV, took my blood, put me on the monitors and made sure I was comfortable - was excellent as well. Not to forget Dr Lick who got to the point and did what needed to be done in a cool and efficient manner. What a team. After the several visits I have had to make to Maple Grove Hospital ER over the past 10 years I have to say I have no complaints. I am sure there are some employees on staff that are not like the experiences I've had, knowing that every hospital has it's share of 'C' performers but my experiences have been very good and several, like today - commendable. read more

I've had three unfortunate events that needed visits to the MG Emergency Department. The first 2x were for my disabled brother. The ED staff were very good to him and me. I appreciated the doctors and nurses the listening and respecting me as the advocate for my brother. He received very good care. The most recent ED visit was for me. I started having vision issues. I knew I needed to see an eye specialist but was advised to go to ED. I was not hopeful in what kind help I would get because there were no eye MDs in the ED. But I was blessed to be cared for by Dr. L. Saavedra. He diagnosed a retinal detachment and got me an appointment to see a retina specialist the same day. He also called me the following morning to check on me and make sure a plan was in place to save my vision. The MG ED doctors and nurses I have encountered have delivered quality care and were fully concerned for my wellbeing. Thank You!!! read more

The reviews are true and likely way worse than what people are willing to post. We took our sick little one to the emergency room. As others pointed out, it will take hours to be seen. We were told that their information would be made available on MyChart as long as we had an account set up. I had given birth here and had an account set up since 2017. Days pass and I see no information listed or updated on MyChart. I call and find out that I need to request proxy access for him, which takes 3-4 business days for someone to review and press a button to essentially approve access to my child's results. I tried to escalate and was passed around like a hot potato from MyChart to the MG Medical Records for over an hour. Both parties blamed the other and there was a complete lack of empathy and urgency about the situation. I asked if I could stop in to get the results and was told that their records office was closed ever since Covid. I asked if I could escalate and get the results but was told that there was one person around that "worked the folder" but that they usually leave around 4pm. My other option was to send authorization via fax or mail, which may take up to 5 days post receipt of said form. What is the point of taking your child for urgent attention if you can't get the results? How is this even a thing? This seems entirely unethical and wrong to withhold test results of a minor to validate the parents identity, when the parent took the minor to be seen and authentication was done in person. The front office does not care enough to check and confirm that access is set up for the parent to view this critical info. They'll send you home with MyChart instructions and excuse themselves when things go wrong and quickly transfer you to their support team, who can't even help you with access. You'll be too busy treating a sick kid at home to notice or even think about MyChart until you desperately need the information to determine daycare and next steps for your kid. It's understandable that the hospital is following HIPPA practices and privacy policies, however this process should take no more than a few hours, max. This is supposed to be an emergency team after all. Complete lack of awareness and empathy by all parties involved. read more

I gave birth to my daughter April 2021 at Maple Grove hospital, during a pandemic. Overall, we had a great experience from start to finish- as we ended up staying 3 days. Dr Hallstrom was my OB and do my planned c section due to my daughter being breech. And I was terrified. She was so calm about it, even during my preop, and did everything she could do ease my fears. This was an ivf pregnancy, after 3 losses and I'm fairly overweight so I was just freaking out all the way around. The day came and we arrived at 5 am, checked in and were brought to a room to start prepping. I hadn't eaten in 24 hours, got almost no sleep, and the nurse was struggling to find a vein in my hand. After fishing around for a while and me almost passing out, she tried the other hand and got one. I don't remember everything clearly after that, other than being wheeled in a very clean sterile room, the spinal block (took a few tries, ouch..) and then bits and pieces of the birth. The anesthesiologists were AMAZING, checking on me constantly, making sure I was comfortable and not faint or dizzy. I remember my husband coming in, some pressure, feeling dizzy at points, and hearing our daughters first cry. It was the most beautiful moment of my life. Dr Hallstrom even had them pull the curtain down so my husband could get a pic her holding our baby with the cord still attached and in front of the clock so we could see the time she was born! I'd say all in all, the procedure lasted maybe an hour. My husband said they got to her quick, but stitching me up (30 stitches x 7 layers) took a while. We were checked on constantly by the staff, we had a few crabby nurses, but overall really great. There were a few (Kayla, Emily, some others I can't remember their names) that were phenomenal, so caring when I was going through some baby blues and insomnia. I remember the second night I was so emotional, crying, could not fall asleep or relax, and the nurse on call Emily was beyond sweet, taking time to talk to me, listen, and got me some lavender patches to help me relax. It really stood out to me, so thank you!! Because our daughter was our rainbow baby, they did her footprints in rainbow ink im addition to the black ink, and we got a rainbow knit hat which was so sweet! We got to keep the sponge and spa jacket from her first bath, and the pediatrician who saw her on her first day of life is now the ped we go to for every visit. Dr Hallsrom herself even came in to check on us and our daughter which we thought was so sweet of her! Our daughter never left our room, not even for a second! We went from the operating room to our recovery room and my husband got to push her from one to the other, and she was with us the whole time which we really appreciated. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is the nurses who did her blood work were a little rough. Obviously we're new parents and emotional, but they weren't getting enough from her foot to do one of the labs, and were really pressing and squeezing her foot and she was purple from crying. I wish they would've just waited and come back and tried again after a feed or something... anything... because both of us were getting so upset seeing and hearing that. And secondly, they definitely encouraged breastfeeding, but when it just wasn't happening they waited too long to get her a bottle. I asked multiple times and they just kept saying she was getting enough from breastfeeding, even though I was making barely a few drops of colostrum. I was putting her to the breast and pumping but it just wasn't happening. She dropped 10% of her weight (7 lbs 4 oz to 6lbs 1 oz) writhing the first 30 hours of life before they finally gave her a bottle. Which she had a horrible reaction to. And then when we asked for lactose free forumla they didn't have any, and said it would be over 24 hours to get any. So my mom had to go get some, come to the hosptial and have my husband run out and get it from her (only my husband was allowed as a visitor due to covid). We tried regular forumla a few more times at home and she always had a bad reaction, which wasn't a surprise as me and my 2 sisters are all lactose intolerant and were as infants. But it was frustrating to felt like we weren't being heard and then them telling us she dropped more weight than they would've liked... Obviously, she wasn't getting anything to eat!! But overall, we had a great experience. If we get so lucky to have another child, we would love to deliver here again! And now we live in Maple Grove so we are even closer to the hospital! I will also add, they offered a free, second day of life photo shoot, it is BEYOND worth it! You pay for any pics you want (we did the package to get them all), the photographer was so kind, did any and every pose we wanted, and we used a few for a perfect birth announcement, and they are amazing memories of her first few days! First to review this place!!! Good thing I added the business on yelp!;) This place is very nice and clean like a hotel. I came here to visit my friend who gave birth to a beautiful daughter. When I walked in, the reception desk was very nice and friendly. I asked her where the birth center was and she directly me to upstairs and take a right. Everything seemed very clean and peaceful at the birth center. My friend's room was HUGE. I was surprised that the room was big because I thought hospitals would try to make rooms a lot smaller to accomadate many patients as possible. Anyways, I really like this hospital. Parking is free. I had a harrowing day when I woke up on morning and couldn't speak coherently. Throughout the day it got worse and even my husband could not understand me. I got scared so I told him I need to go to the hospital. Upon arrival, they looked at my chart and asked me questions about my symptoms. I told them that I was a recovering alcoholic and had not had a drink in over 4 years. I also currently have a broken back which I have to use a walker for to keep my balance. I do have a prescription for pain medicine for this but I came in worried about a possible stroke. All they could concentrate on was that I was an alcoholic and that I was a drug addict. Not that I was completely disoriented and couldn't put two words together because I showed signs of possibly being drunk. After having a slew of tests they did determine that I did have a broken back and also had complications from bad surgeries from a hip replacement. I had been experiencing terrible bruising on my lower legs ( black large bruises) and they then started to think that I had been beaten or had fallen. All of these answers were no and again no. I did have a bladder infection which I was completely unaware of. Gave me antibiotics and never gave me any kind of explanation about my condition with the disorientation and while all of this was going on I was treated like a drunk and a drug seeker. I also use a albuterol inhaler for my asthma and they tried to say that everything was based on the fact that I may be using it too much. Gave me something else which mad me so bad that I felt like someone had punched me in the diaphragm and I could not catch my breath. I was finally able to see my primary physician and he was very upset about all of this after reading the report from hospital. He pointed out that my blood platelets were not where they should be and was very concerned. Never did the hospital say anything to me about this. Many years ago this happened and I ended up getting two transfusions. Again, not once did the doctor ever say anything about this. I have NEVER BEEN TREATED so poorly. The main topic was I was an alcoholic and a drug seeker. I am extremely concerned that the doctors that are supposed to be helping you get tunnel vision and are unable or unwilling to treat what is really wrong. Shame on them. Again. Shame on them. Never been so poorly treated and unprofessional. People rely on the expertise of an emergency doctor to treat you with respect and compassion. This is certainly not the case. My health is not good and it's scary to think that this is what is happening. I'm concerned if I have to go back. I'm concerned about others as well. And it wasn't even a busy night. I hope management takes notice.at this time two plus weeks later I am still too traumatized to continue with my experience. They would have to drag me in unresponsive and bleeding near death before I enter the hospital again. I still have no definitive answer other that I had a very mild bladder infection and a broken back. ( which I was already aware of) and waiting for surgery. I have never been treated so poorly. Ever. I never received any specific results and just got a whopping bill. Seems like the medical community just wants your run-of-the-mill illness and aren't willing to dig any further into what is really happening to you. I'm still not any better off and extremely frustrated with the situation and the treatment that was given to me. Lazy is the best word that comes to mind. I definitely wouldn't recommend this and beware anyone that thinks they can give a definitive diagnosis or treatment. No follow-up after and it isn't a place I would recommend. The only thing good that I have heard about them is their pregnancies and deliveries. read more

Went to the ER today. I can tell you, I will drive the extra miles to Methodist next time. My physician was the Medical Director, whom one would have thought would set the example of compassionate, quality care. I have never been treated as such from another provider. (I also work in the medical field). You don't tell your patient you will order a test, cuz you have done in past for "dumber reasons". Then just pop your head in and say yep just like I though clear and our plan is good. Not sure what "plan" he was referring to as he never step foot in my room to discuss. Nurses were wonderful. Brought my 18 year old daughter to the ER for worsening chronic stomach pain and GI issues. They put an IV in at check in and did some initial labs. Then we waited for 3 hours to be brought back to an ER room, then another hour to be seen by a doctor. The doctor was an ENT so wasn't sure what to do with a GI patient so had to refer to GI which took another hour. They decided to admit her to the hospital overnight for further tests. We waited another 2 hours in the ER to get transferred to a hospital room. So spent 7 hours total in the ER before hospital admission. They decided to prep her for an endoscopy the next day and started colonoscopy prep at 9pm at which time my daughter was exhausted. She hadn't eaten or drank much for 2 days and initial labs indicated dehydration. Although they put an IV in as soon as we entered the ER they never connected any fluids to it. 1/2 way through drinking the prep she went to the bathroom for the 100th time around midnight and passed out on the bathroom floor. I turned on all the nurse call lights and no one came. As I ran into the hallway to flag someone down for help, my daughter came to and tried to get up and ended up collapsing again. I finally got help from a nurse walking down the hall and they got her back into bed to find her blood pressure and blood sugar had plummeted due to severe dehydration from the prep. Only then did they start fluids. Had I not been there with her I'm not sure how long she would have laid on the bathroom floor. They spent the next 2 hours trying to rehydrate her, coming in the room every 10-20 minutes for vitals and blood sugar checks. At 6am they woke her up to start drinking the rest of the prep she hadn't finished the night before and told us the procedure would be that afternoon. At 8am they came in the room and said there was a cancellation and they wanted to do the procedure right away. She had finished the prep only a few minutes before this and I knew she had to be NPO 2-4 hours before the procedure so I voiced this to the nurse and they said it wasn't a problem and they'd do it anyway. Once we got down there for the procedure and they found out she hadn't been NPO they cancelled the procedure and rescheduled for 2 hours later. Instead of bringing her back up to her room where she could rest from her exhausting night, they left her down there in the noisy uncomfortable procedure area where she had to run to the bathroom every 15 minutes while she waited and was unable to rest. After the procedure she was given instructions and the doctor gave discharge orders but we had to wait another two hours for a nurse to come and discharge her. It was a traumatizing experience for my daughter. They made a horrible procedure 100 times worse due to their lack of skill and care. I will say that the nurses, doctors and staff we encountered were nice but their skill level to handle a pretty routine procedure and admission was definitely subpar. They also seemed overly busy. When a nurse did come to the room they did everything very quickly. Big lack of communication between shifts and departments as well. I don't think I could ever go back there after this experience. read more

This ER department misjudged a situation with our daughter, after the Er doctor refused to assess her, and forced us to take an ambulance to children's hospital all to find out nothing was wrong with our daughter and to get an X-ray the Er doctor at maple grove hospital refused to do... Thus resulting in 4K worth of bills. We were completely scammed and preyed upon by the Er doctor. The fact that they could not assess a case as simple as ours is mind boggling to me. They completely passed the buck and I have no confidence in there Er. If our daughters situation was dire, they were completely incompetent in assisting.... this is an er that can do NOTHING. read more

Worst service ever and could possibly kill me today I went to see my doctor for a follow up from a emergency room visit three days prior. I have chronic blood clots and was in a severe amount of pain my primary dr ordered me to the emergency room for a scan of my right arm and leg to determine severity of the clot and what would have to happen next so I get to the emergency room get checked in 5 minutes later this Bond Michael who is a md comes in and says you have a blood clot in your right leg heres some blood thinners you can go now I asked why he wasn't going to do the ordered test he stated I dont need to do a scan to tell you you have a blood clot I was stunned uncomfortable and angry all in one this is Jayc Alvarez I can be reached jayc.alvarez@yahoo.com because quite frankly this is dangerous and you as a hospital should be looking into this situation immediately good night read more

This is by far the BEST hospital to give birth at! The doctors and nurses in the birth center are amazing. I was triaged and admitted to a room in under 1 hour. I stayed for a total of 4 days recovering from preeclampsia. Their NICU nurses are awesome as well. My son received the best care while he was there for two weeks. The doctor made sure I got an update every day whether there was a change or not. The ER is less than desirable, I will admit. My fiance came in with a clear fracture, but the doctor that handled the xray said it was a bone lesion and recommended he go see an orthopedic surgeon. To avoid a lawsuit, they should just recommend the surgeon and not try to guess the injury because it was definitely a fracture and not a lesion! read more

We had an unexpected late Christmas Eve visit to the ER. My son had a fall and ended up with a gash above his lip. The roads were awful, we were tired and nervous (about the cut and being exposed to Covid), but he was such a trooper. We were seen right away, didn't have to sit in the waiting room at all, and didn't even see any other patients there. It was surreal. Thank you to the three nurses and the doctor at Maple Grove that helped make my son feel so calm and comforted while we were there. He may have ended up with 4 stitches, but he felt like was at Camp Snoopy, and he had fun chatting with you all. He even got a supremely awesome sports toy set from the nurses when he was done! This hospital is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! I had both of my children here. My first birth experience wasn't that good because the nurses weren't attentive to my needs and kept leaving me to push a posterior baby by myself. This ended up having my husband very distraught and he even had to leave the room to go yell at the nurses to come back in. I ended up trying to push my daughter out for 4 hours before they finally brought me to the OR. I had to go under general anesthesia and couldn't meet my daughter (who was in the NICU immediately after birth) until 12 hours after I had her. Because I was in labor for so long we were exposed to infection so that was the reason for her NICU stay. I will say though that I had a few amazing nurses. They cared about me and my husband and newborn daughter. When it comes to my son's birth however, is the exact opposite of how my daughter's birth was. He was a planned c section due to becoming pregnant so soon after my daughter. (My daughter was 7 months old when I found out I was pregnant again) when it comes to the care I received the second time around, I am at a loss for words on how blissful everything was. My OB was spectacular, she did a very great job delivering my son. The nurses were amazing and were very personable. I have a thing for hospital ice and they got me some every time I asked for it and they were nice about every time I asked for it. (I asked alot lol) I even got to go home a day early after having him. They usually have c sections stay for 72 hours, I went home after about 36 hours. Visits to the ER are never fun and enjoyable. However after recently moving here from Southern California, we were pleasantly surprised with our experiences here. We had the fortune of 3 visits over a 5 week period and each time we were treated with compassion and care. The time from triage to a room was amazing too. All three times we were in a room within 1-1.5 hours which coming from Southern California was mind blowing as we were used to 4-7 hour average waits to get back into an ER room. The physicians took the time to listen and understand my wife's condition and then discussed a treatment plan. We appreciate the care and treatment we received here. Also the waiting room was clean and tidy and the hospital is aesthetically pleasing. read more

I had a scheduled c-section at the maple grove hospital and everything was fantastic. From L&D nurses to postpartum nurses every person that helped along the way was great. The rooms are clean and modern. My husband slept on the couch in my room for three nights and thought it was reasonably comfortable for couch sleeping. We also recently had an ER visit and were equally as pleased with staff, doctor and room. read more

Worst ER doctors I've ever encountered. Please make sure you don't go to this hospital if your injury or situation can wait a few more minutes to arrival at a nearby, other hospital service. They drugged me to sleep and then drugged me more while I was asleep. Because of the drugs they put into my body, I was placed on a 72 hour hold against my will. If I could afford a lawyer, I would demand restitution from every person nvolved that day. I must say though, the psychologist was very helpful and was the most amazing while I was there. Unfortunately anything she said to the doctors was just swept under the rug. They kept me in the ER bed for a good 8 hours.... read more

Although it would be closer for me to go to North Memorial Hospital or Methodist, I prefer to go to Maple Grove Hospital. Granted, it is on the edge of suburban civilization, but the facility is always clean, the staff are professional, and in my case tonight, the ER is always open and the wait is nonexistent. The staff were able to diagnose my issue and administer treatment immediately. The prescriptions were thoughtfully ordered (as I am a "complicated case" according to the staff at another hospital). I wasn't able to get my meds filled there, but I have a pharmacy that's open located on the corner of happy and healthy. The team that took care of me were great, but the number of people who went in and out of my room, was a little dizzying. There were 6 medical professionals I saw in the hour I was there. I answered the same questions about 5 times (the 6th guy was only there to give me the doctor's orders, so he didn't need to know if I traveled outside the country in the last 21 days). Normally, this isn't a big deterrent, but if I had gone in for a totally unknowing condition or was experiencing a trauma, I am not sure if I would feel comfortable asking questions. But in terms of this evening's trip to the ER, I am very satisfied in the way that I was treated. read more

this hospital has been a really good hospital once I had a segure and these doctors helped me a lot

I went into the ER for terrible stomach ache, ending up with having peritonitis. They told me I was constipated, although I wasn't, gave me drugs for constipated and nothing happened. While they made me wait 12 hours to find out what was wrong with ZERO urgency, I ended up getting sepsis! The nurse was the one who caught it, thank heavens for her. I was in a total of FIVE days and lefts without getting any of my lab results. Which I still have to call them and ask what they ended up being bc even if you undergo surgery they do not get your labs back to you. Also, when it was time to go and needed the nurse assistant to help wheel me out, she was chatting at the nurses station complaining about having to help a patient keep trying to use the bathroom an how she will make him wait a few minutes so her time with him would be shorter. Not all staff was like that- had a few great nurses. Jaime, Hope, Lindsay. But I saw a total of about 16 nurses an can say I was happy an comfortable with about 4 of them. I will not be going back to that hospital for any kind of service/treatment, ever. And highly recommend that none of my friends or family go there as well. It is worth it to drive to a hospital/clinic closer to the city. read more

ER Dr. Lee is horrible. I waited talk to her in private because my mom could not hear the news of her condition. After waiting for an hour, she finally came to spoke to me but look very agitated like she was wasting her time talking. She also spoke very loud and i had to tell her to tone it down yet she still kept the same tone of voice. I told her mom does not want to hear the results so please lower your voice. Anyways she proceeded to speak to me about 12 ft away from the door and my mother heard everything. On top of all this she miss diagnosed my mother and said there was bleeding from 2 spots in the brain. Automatically we all prepared for the worst and was devastated .We ended up getting transferred to north memorial robbinsdale and found out it was just a virus. read more

My 5 year old daughter crashed her bike tonight and landed in her face. She cut her chin open about 2.5 cm in length and pretty deep. I knew she would need stitches. Blood everywhere when we brought her to urgent care. After waiting for someone to talk to us at the desk for 10 minutes the lady walked out and said, "I'm sorry, we stopped seeing patients 3 minutes ago." My wife said, you can't see a 5 year old who needs stitches in her face and is about to pass out? The lady said, "take a seat, it's a 2 hour wait." We literally had blood all over our clothes from trying to stop the bleeding, and they wouldn't even bring her back to triage and clean the cut. Just told us there was nothing they could do for two hours. This lady should actually be fired for her indifference and clearly not caring about the people she's supposed to be helping. We left and went to an Alina Urgent Care. We walked in, they saw all the blood, and said, come with me, right away. They cleaned here up, put numbing cream on her, and then we waited. It was still a wait, but at least they cared enough to address the situation right away. We went to Urgent Care because it was urgent. The Maple Grove urgent care at this hospital is a joke. If you have something that is urgent, do NOT go here. You will have to leave and find a place that wants to help. This place does not. They're just grudgingly doing a job, and a poor one at that. If I could leave a zero star review I would, but Yelp requires at least a one star for the "post review" button to populate. read more

The ER staff was extremely incompetent, unhelpful, unprofessional, violated my privacy rights and recorded false information in my medical record. The nurse was so incompetent during my ER visit that she couldn't even understand and accurately record what the officer had told her during the phone conversation. The nurse stupidly thought and made the huge mistake of who was sending e-mails and to whom the e-mails were being sent. The doctor didn't even examine me much and then claimed that I didn't have much injury.......and he hadn't even asked or looked!!. I was supposed to give birth to my daughter In December 2010 at The Maple Grove Hospital. When we called to notify them that we were coming, they told us they were full. We were told to goto Methodist. I live in Maple Grove so it ruined our entire plan of having my husband close with our 17 month old for visits. I ended up giving birth at Methodist. We had a snow storm so I didn't even get to see my 17 month old while in the hospital or my husband. It was lonely. Thanks Maple Grove Hospital. If you're blessed enough to be covered through private/work insurance then you're good. If you're state or MA, they will try to do minimal work & send you else where. Terrible ER doctor and triage front desk staff! The front desk staff is rude and unfriendly! The doctor sends you home if they can't figure out what is wrong with you. Instead of doing more tests to figure out what is going on they say to follow up with a doctor. You will get nowhere at this hospital. Go to a better hospital like Abott Northwestern they are amazing and have great doctors there and the technology to figure out what is going on! read more

Fantastic ER & hospital service! Two of my sister in laws have had babies here and (other than the cost) loved the experience! It's clean, nice, staffed with friendly caring people, and efficient. Yesterday I brought my fiancé into the emergency room, driving all the way from St. Paul do your horrible experience at the Regions Hospital ER previously. He was taken to room immediately and every doctor we encountered was kind, helpful, explained exactly what they were doing, confident, and gave us advice on how to get insured/save money since he is currently uninsured. Site states 7 minutes wait time for ER, I've been waiting 2hours and still haven't been seen

We had an absolutely abhorrent experience at the Maple Grove Hospital within the Intensive Care Center this past weekend. We are the family of a 93 year old patient on the unit with dementia who was being treated for pneumonia and blood clotting. Never in my life have I seen such an unprofessional staff and been treated so poorly in a sensitive (or any) situation. The nurse who was assigned to help with our family member was insensitve, umcompassionate and down right rude. A specific example of her lack of compassion was unveiled when she made a point of asking us to make our conversation quick as she was already on overtime and that our unique family dynamic was not her problem to deal with. I asked her not to speak that way in front on my grandmother - she responded with "she's fine," when she was clearly upset and confused. I left the hospital visit with my grandmother seething and on the verge of tears. The rest of the family will be flying into town today to remove her from this god awful institution and get her the care that she needs in a place that CARES. read more

As a recent employee, my experience working on Labor and Delivery was over all pretty ok, it was usually always busy fast paced , but worked with amazing nurses (morning nurses were rude, condescending, belittling) coworkers who have been there since the beginning would act as if they owned the place and felt entitled so slacked off but were shown favoritism always. My experience on Med Surge and Intensive Care Center were terrible. If you weren't liked, you would be singled out and have the heaviest work assignments to the point it wasn't safe for you/your licence or the patient. MGH would promote respect, teamwork, blah blah blah... When it came to the people of "influence" (supervisors/ managers) they would abuse their authority positions and were the leaders in one of the worst negative work environments I've ever experienced. I would see coworkers who possessed the qualities and characteristics that you'd WANT to have care for you, be so burnt out and ready to quit because of the heavy, uneven work loads. There's no one to go to about these issues because HR will alwasys back up the managers. Even when their policies are discriminatory. There was one charge nurse who was promoted to house supervisor(don't understand how or why) and she deliberately assigned droplet contact precaution patients (you're supposed to wear a face mask when caring for them) without notifying the nurses who ended up deathly ill with exactly the same infections as the patients they had cared for previously. That is a violation of policy and procedure and illegal. The hard working housekeepers who do excellent work keeping that hospital clean were mostly people of ethnic decent and I personally know a number of housekeepers who quit due to management being proven racist with one confirmed lawsuit against them. If it wasn't for Labor and Delivery MGH would never survive. read more

We had our kid here and my gosh what a beautiful hospital! It was genuinely as comfortable as one can be while in a hospital and the nursing staff was top notch. I'm so impressed with their birthing units and after care. If we have any other kids we will absolutely do it there! read more

I gave birth to my son at Maple Grove Hospital in September. I was in the hospital for 6 days and I must say the nursing staff was amazing. They are caring and kind. I felt at home during my stay. The rooms where very clean and comfortable. Thank you everyone for your hard work. read more
