After moving to the Livonia area we were hoping to find a dentist that was nearby to save us the 45…read moreminute trip to the dentist that we've been going to for more than 20 years. We were dreading this process because we've heard stories from other people of the frustrations they've faced when trying to find a new dentist, and unfortunately, had our own bad experience at a dentist. We tried another dentist in the Woodhaven area when we were still living Downriver, which was only a few minutes from our house, in order to avoid a longer commute to the dentist and regretted doing it because they were focused more on selling needless items and procedures than they were on customer service and care. We quickly returned to our former dentist and gladly put up with the longer drive. Fortunately, the terrible experience we had at that particular dentist taught us a lot about finding a new dentist after we moved. After moving, we researched every dentist within a certain radius from our house in the Livonia area. When I say every dentist I literally mean EVERY dentist within that particular radius. It was time consuming but well worth our efforts. After narrowing it down to several dentists we waited a few days and then reviewed our listing again to narrow it down to three dentists. Once again, we sat the list aside and revisited it a few days later and narrowed it down to two dentists. After reviewing all of the reviews of the final two dentists on Yelp, Google and Facebook, and after visiting each dentist's website to read the reviews that were listed there, to view the photos of the offices, and to compare office hours, we decided to go with Livonia Dental Care. We had our first visit yesterday and walked away very happy. We like the fact that they have extended office hours that fit into our busy lives. Even though the initial visit is scheduled to take 1.5 hours we were able to get a late evening appointment rather than having to leave work early. We were greeted quickly upon entering and was pleased with the friendliness of the front desk staff. As we sat down to complete the new patient paperwork we noticed that the office was clean, bright and contemporary. We especially liked the fact that the TV wasn't tuned to a news channel. There's nothing worse than going to a medical office of any sort and having to sit and endure all of the depressing and negative news stories. Instead, their TV was tuned to either HGTV or the DIY Channel, which helped to create a comfortable feel in the waiting area. We were called back to begin our initial visit shortly after completing the paperwork. Again, it was nice to be in the exam room without a TV blaring the news. Instead, the large screen TV that was on the wall actually showed the results of my x-rays as they were being taken. Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. The hygienist assigned to me was Angela. For the initial visit, they take photos of your teeth & mouth, as well as x-rays, and they ask all of the necessary questions regarding medical history. Angela was professional and explained everything in detail during the entire process. My wife and I were both pleased with the level of technology that the office was using. They had machines that we had not seen at our prior dentist that helped them learn more about my teeth and know what areas needed attention. The dentist, Dr. Ali, visited with me once the tests were completed to go over the results and answer any questions I had. He patiently went over the results and never gave the impression that he was rushed or was in a hurry even though it was now later in the evening. After Dr. Ali completed his consultation Angela began the cleaning. She was thorough but gentle during the entire process. One simple thing that I enjoyed was being able to choose the flavor of the polish that was used during the cleaning. They have mint, vanilla and cherry flavors of polish. I chose the mint and was satisfied with the taste. As I mentioned earlier, the initial consultation was scheduled for 1.5 hours but, in our case, only took less than one hour. At the end, rather than just giving us a toothbrush and floss we were given a nice welcome gift of a coffee mug with various items in it. Also, we were given a card that had the dentist's cell phone numbers on the back in case of a dental emergency. I've listed a number of good things about the office but the thing that really sealed the deal for us is that neither Angela nor Dr. Ali tried selling us any products or any unnecessary procedures. This was the one thing my wife and I were on guard for during our first visit and were willing to move on to another dentist if that were to occur. We were both happy to leave the dentist office and not have to endure the constant sales pitches or the pressure to have unnecessary procedures done. Overall, we can happily say that we have found a new dentist and will recommend Livonia Dental Care to anyone that is looking for a dentist.

Looks like new ownership is now all about making money. Told me x-rays were insurance covered…read more Then at checkout had to pay because 'not all xrays are covered'. Also, somehow my teeth had a good periodontal pocket depth measurement, now when measured with this new ownership in one year I went from 2-3 to 5-6's. The want $1000 to clean them. I just don't trust them anymore. Good luck to you if you continue with this new ownership.

I have been going here for so long I can't even remember when I started. But I believe it's been 12 or 13 years. My whole family goes here and I've also referred friends. The front desk staff is friendly and accommodating. They make you feel welcome from your first step in the door. The Hygienists and Assistants are helpful and wonderful as well Dr. Freeman and Dr. Fox are caring, down to earth and professional. Dr. Freeman helped me with my TMJ tooth pain which is what first bought me to the office all those years ago. Both of them deal with TMJ issues as well as anything else that may be causing you issues. They do everything here and they will definitely make you feel comfortable and at ease. Sadly I've never taken any pictures of the office so I might have to update this soon. If you are looking for a reliable, reputable and caring dental office this is your place!

Update: I guess I shouldn't give a bad review on social media. First, they lied about billing…read more Then, they start Internet stalking if you give them a bad review online. Dear Dr. Fox, thank you for responding my complaint in time. Also thank you for your professional dental service which I really appreciate. But please be notified that my original complaint is towards your billing department work. When you keep mentioning $14 in your reply, I know you are still confused about why I gave a one-star review. There are few things I want to clarify here: 1. There's no copay for preventive dental service with my insurance. Please refer to my dental insurance benefit page I uploaded in my review. The reason why I got an unpaid balance is because your office charges exceed the reasonable and customary amount not because I have a copay. It appears that you and your office still have a misunderstanding on my insurance coverage and that's where my complaint comes from. P.S.: I'll attach a copay definition at the end of my review for your information. P.P.S.: copay is spelled as copay not co-pay. 2. Thank you for reading my previous reviews on Yelp. I guess it's a unique way in your dental office to know your patient better and solve customer's complaint. Interesting and creative but not appreciated. The reason why I gave Dr. Ruskin Aaron one star is not because they lied to me about billing details and my insurance coverage as you can see. Plus, Dr. Ruskin Aaron already apologized for my bad customer experience. 3. One thing good about social media is it empowering customers. After you got bullied as a customer, there's a way for you to speak out and inform others to help them make their choices. I did call your office to solve the problem. But the lady tried to mislead me into believing that there's a copay for my insurance, just like what you did in your reply. Hope next time when your office gets a complaint from a customer, your customer service is not Internet stalking or trying to depict him/her as a cheapass psychopath. What if "We make every effort to satisfy our patients on every visit with the quality of our staff the quality of our work and our pride in our service" is not just cooperative propaganda? I don't think we will have all these mess and hassles. *A copay is a fixed amount you pay for a health care service, usually when you receive the service. The amount can vary by the type of service. You may also have a copay when you get a prescription filled.

Please forgive the length, it's a thorough review based on my experience: About 2-3 years ago I…read morestarted seeing Dr. Mulka. Another dentist was highly recommended and well reviewed, however was not accepting new patients at the time. Dr. Mulka was my second pick. The initial visit went great! The staff and dentist were all very accommodating. However, I was extremely surprised to learn after my exam that I would need several fillings. (Some of which may have been to replace older fillings, but I'm not sure.) I was offered a nice discount (noted in my file) for teeth whitening to be done after I finished the extensive "treatment plan". During one of the treatment appointments, there was work being done and I was not numb enough. I notified Dr. Mulka while working that I could feel what she was doing on a particular tooth and that it was painful. She continued, claiming to be nearly finished. To date, I've had two substantial problems with two fillings done by Dr. Mulka. Problems I didn't even have with the previous dentist by whom I'd had a rough experience. The first incident occurred under Dr. Mulka's care. A filling she did went bad, and I needed a root canal. She actually wanted to do a root canal on this tooth and the adjacent tooth. However her schedule was full, so I referred me to a specialist. The specialist confirmed only one tooth needed the work, and completed one of the most pleasant oral procedures I've ever experienced. I returned for the crown which needed to be split into two appointments. The placement of the temporary crown was down by a hygienist, who seemed inexperienced and left adhesive residue all on my lips and surrounding my mouth. I mentioned to the dentist that being fitted for the crown was more traumatic than the actual root canal. She responded: "well that's all they do so they're really good." It implied that I shouldn't expect a great experience since they don't fit crowns every day - even though the root canal is the worser of the two experiences. After this response and being laid off, I was not able to return for the permanent crown because I could not afford it. However, I started receiving calls from the office staff to get the crown in - not for the health of my tooth or mouth, but because they could not get paid by my insurance company until they finished the installation. The installation was another unpleasant experience scheduled only because the staff offered to give me time to pay. The bite was not right, which I noted. However, I was told that the crown would "settle and adjust". It was almost a year before I was able to chew without pain, waiting on it to settle and adjust. It didn't. However, my new dentist (the 1st pick, who started accepting me patients again) adjusted the crown and my bite in all of 3 minutes of filling. It happened during an emergency appointment (before my first official new patient cleaning and exam) after horrible  pain landed me in the EMERGENCY ROOM on a Saturday evening. Severe tooth pain, I thought it was the root canal & crown gone bad. New Dentist saw a cavity under a filling when x-raying previous root canal & crown. Thought it'd be a quick fix. It was the tooth that wasn't numbed all the way when Dr. Mulka did its filling. Now this is the SECOND filling she's done to have gone bad. This time much worse! Soon as the New Dentist tapped the filling, it shattered. Nothing but decay underneath. It was severely infected - to the pulp. The New Dentist basically started the root canal right there in the chair before sending me to the specialist. Even before the root canal, and after the infection (& pain) cleared, I was able to eat without pain from chewing on the previous crown! Dr. Mulka has a ton of great reviews. She's friendly and so is her staff. However, I caution you to get a second opinion if an extensive treatment plan is recommended. It may not all be necessary, may not properly done if it's something they don't do frequently, may just be a procedure easily billed and processed with your dental insurance company, carefully scheduling based on your policy maximum. Give thought to whether you want a dentist that does a lot of promotion versus on that is promoted by word of mouth! (pun intended)
