Side portion of sag paneer and naan rounded out the meal. The staff was fantastic! Friendly, chatty, good natured, and full of suggestions for site seeing for new to the area us.

I had always been put off in the past by the somewhat garish exterior but decided to give it a try. On the off chance I rang about seven to see if it was possible to book a table for two for seven thirty. I was answered by a gentleman who took my enquiry and said that they could offer a table for 7:45 if that was ok. From the background noise the restaurant was clearly busy a good sign. We arrived by taxi just before 7:45. The taxi driver had to be told where the restaurant was. On entering we were asked to take a seat whilst another couple who were waiting we're escorted to their table. Soon after we were taken and seated in a nice booth towards the rear of the restaurant. The internal ambience of the restaurant was lovely. We were given plenty of time to choose and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a good list of reasonably priced wines around £12 for a bottle . The food when it came was piping hot and exquisitely flavoured. We were offered a break between courses, something I like as I like to give my starter time to settle. The proprietor came over during the evening to introduce himself and explained that they had only been open about two years and now had several regulars. He said that whilst they were still fairly quiet mid week it was advisable to book in advance for weekends. The whole meal took about 2 hours from start to finish and both my wife and I were extremely impressed. The bill including wine and coffees came to just under £50. We will definitely be going back again.

You gone to one for one take on Indian from one region then next week you can go somewhere else for the same great service and food but focusing on Kashmir etc... We were warmly greeted & say with no hassle. We expressed that we were both vegetarian and if they could accommodate our dietary needs. They certainly could! The Curry House is kind of a mosh mash of all the other curry places in town. You can get a dish that is Persian in origin, which is what I ordered. It was fan-bloody-tastic. I didn't hold out high hopes as when a restaurant tries to do everything, you tend to find they have trouble doing the smallest of things. This was one of the great exceptions. The naan was wonderful & billowy. Sometimes you get crisp naan, which I dislike. Here they served my perfect naan. Oh and the prices? Cheap at twice the price! Try this place out, you won't be sorry.

I didn't like the Peshwari Naan, as it wasn't what I would call Peshwari, no almonds/herbs on top. And no veggie option on the specials either (black mark). Usual Indian lager, brewed just off the M6. Pity you can't bring beer in from the Boltmakers. All in, though, very good value, if you pick wisely. Good rice, not the Colgate white stuff you get in most places, but proper Basmati.

Karachi Restaurant - Karachi gristle keema April 2021

I have been a patron of the Karachi since 1973 when they we're in the cellar and a curry cost 50p…read more Recently I collected my take away orders including a keema. The keema I received was not the keema I had come to expect. More onion base than mince. The mince was very low quality with large lumps of gristle. The taste was predominantly "Cumin" & ""Chili" instead of the usual aromatic magic of masala. The prices have gone up which I don't mind but the magic has gone and quality plummeted. I wouldn't feed it to the dog, it went in the bin along with my patronage. THE END of a love affair.

All my trips to Karachi have been spur-of-the-moment things; stepping out of the cinema into (sort…read moreof) fresh air and suddenly realising we're all ravenous, our stomachs and noses lead us to the closest curry emporium. If we're not in the mood for the drunken students of Great Horton Road, we're usually drawn to Karachi. If one of our number has never been before, the sight of the place leads to protests and confusion. "Is this it?!" or "Isn't this just someone's house?" are the most common. That means when they're digging into the awesome food we can be smug and self-righteous, which makes food taste better. Karachi does look like someone's house. A grubby looking mid-terrace on a sketchy looking street. Even when you walk in, it looks like you're in someone's living room. The whole place feels very "Fawlty Towers", especially with the crap decor, mismatched floral plates and somewhat shonky service. But then the food arrives and ermahgerd. Rick Stein has visited, complete with camera crew, on several occasions. It is easy to see why - or rather, easy to taste why. The curries are great, and you should try one of the specials if you can. Suddenly it doesn't feel like you're in a strange little restaurant built into a house. Quite often, our waiter has brought us out the wrong number of cutlery, forgotten something we order, or looked at us like aliens when we remind him that we ordered drinks 20 minutes ago. In some restaurants, this kind of service comes with crap food and makes me scowl. At Karachi, the combination of fantastic food with at least one mishap per visit makes me laugh. Maybe the place is run by Basil Fawlty. Maybe it's all just a cunning ruse. Either way, bloomin' good curries.
