It's the reason I insistently seek out local and independent businesses for my various tasks and projects. Often times, they provide higher quality results for more than fair prices. Naturally, all of the aforementioned traits are applicable to NH Handyman & Inspection Services. The job was simple enough. All I needed was a quick patch up job for the broken paint on my shower ceiling. So, I sent out inquiries to several businesses that served the southern NH area. Funny thing is...ya know how many replied back with an actual quote? One. Just one. The same one I ended up hiring for the repair, of course. So many other businesses wanna chat with you on the phone before actually quoting either a flat rate or, at the very least, an estimate. Almost like they're trying to sell you something. One other business eventually gave me a rate, but it was way too high for my taste. Now, NH Handyman charges a flat rate between $225 and $450; though, it's unclear if that applies to every job or if that's just his hourly rate. In any case, he was clearly the most affordable choice for me. Besides, I'd rather give my money to my home state whenever possible. Here's another convenience this Handyman provides: he'll send you a link to book an appointment online. There's also one available via his website. Convenient AND inexpensive. That's what's up! I find it hard to believe no one ever took the time to review this business before me. Ah, well. At least I get the honor of being dubbed the "First to Review" badge. Seriously though, I couldn't recommend a better alternative if I tried. Give this one a try. Just send him photos of what you want done and he'll usually send you an accurate quote within minutes. And with that, I'm giving NH Handyman & Inspection Services 5 shower ceilings spackled in paint perfection out of 5.

Over the past ten years, I've hired many contractors for various home projects. This is the first company that has left me looking for additional projects simply because I would hire them again. When it's time to replace my roof, I won't be shopping around. Every time I pull into my driveway, I'm reminded how much they transformed my home. I deserved this. Communication was excellent from start to finish. I worked with Tom Bibeau initially. The quotation and scope of work was professional, clear, and thorough. They contacted me well in advance to schedule the project, kept me informed about the delivery of the dumpster and materials, and consistently let me know what to expect throughout the installation. One of the biggest lessons I learned during this entire process is that the installation crew matters more than the product itself. Tall Pine's crew, led by Dan, was exceptional. There were typically two to five installers on site each day. They were experienced, professional, precise, and respectful of my home. They worked as a coordinated team, cleaned up thoroughly each evening, and even made sure my dog gates were closed before leaving each day (a problem I had with a previous contractor). It genuinely felt like they treated my home as if it were their own. The foreman was organized, communicative, and highly consultative throughout the project. Whenever they uncovered something unexpected, he explained the issue, discussed the options, and walked me through how they planned to correct it along with any associated costs. One example stood out. After removing the old siding, they discovered that an enclosed porch addition had been built using pressure-treated lumber where aluminum trim would be installed. Because pressure-treated wood can react with aluminum over time, they proactively replaced the material with a more appropriate product at no additional cost. I never would have known the difference, but they chose to do it correctly rather than simply covering it up. It demonstrated their experience and attention to detail as well as a commitment to quality. They consulted me on small finishing details like the color of the exterior outlets, dryer vent, and utility fixtures. I didn't realize I'd care about such things until I saw the finished result. The crew arrived on time every morning and worked steadily throughout the day, sometimes even in less-than-ideal weather when conditions allowed. Watching the project unfold gave me a new appreciation for how much preparation goes into a quality siding installation. Removing the old siding, repairing areas as needed, installing house wrap, preparing trim, and carefully finishing every detail required far more work than I had imagined. My installation took approximately two weeks. I have a larger home, the original siding had a significant number of nails to remove, and several days of heavy rain delayed progress. Throughout the project, I was visited twice by the project manager and twice by the owner. They wanted to make sure I was happy with the work, answer any questions, and address any concerns before they became problems. My questions were minor, but each one was treated seriously and resolved promptly. That level of involvement gave me confidence that if a significant issue had come up, it would have been handled just as professionally. At the time of writing, the siding installation is complete. The only remaining items are a few pieces of specialty window trim that were backordered and the gutter installation, which will be completed by a separate crew. Looking back on the entire process, I made the right decision. The product is excellent, but more importantly, I have complete confidence in the people who installed it. For me, that ultimately proved to be the most important part of the project. Final Result: Certainteed Monogram. Color: Deep Mineral

Unfortunately the work and effort did not meet expectations. From all the dealings with the owner…read moreI was led to believe I was hiring the owner and his company/employee(s) to complete my work. After the flooring was delivered and carpeting was taken out he never showed up. He said he had phone calls and photos to keep track. The person doing the work I was informed was a 'jobber' or contractor; they did not work for the company. For such an expensive job, if the company wasn't doing the work I'd expect regular 'inspections' in person as a photo can be misleading. When the work was completed all I heard was they wanted immediate payment (no final inspection) and after seeing the final work I understood because the work was done but not to the contract and not to what I would call 'reasonable' standards. I did see the work in progress not being done as agreed, but where the owner wasn't there and the way the work was underway in a less than desirable way (and ripping it out made less sense), I didn't complain or stop the work to the contractor as I'm sure the person I was paying would have charged me again to start over. Now I have to 'fix' parts that are just not right. One specific area to highlight is the actual flooring. The owner came to the house and measured it with a laser. I know when doing the work you don't want to run out and have to stop, but he bought a significant amount in excess (two full boxes plus many additional feet) that I had to pay for (and I expect overhead) and now have flooring I don't need. If he truly knows his work I'd expect a much closer estimate or he buys back extra full boxes to show good will (based on his apparent poor estimation). He also got wood with the wrong finish. He said he'd return it but that would have made a significant delay. I guess to try to justify the mistake (it's a drastic difference between the floors), he said what he bought was better. I was not there when all the work was being done, (I was in and out roughly half the days) but don't think the homeowner should have to oversee the job to ensure it meets the contract or expected quality. One specific item I'll point out; the company's correspondence normally has a statement "Our superior quality and customer satisfaction is guaranteed!". I was not satisfied for most aspects and I definitely don't feel the work was superior quality, at best average. When I pointed out that the work didn't follow what was put in writing he came back with what I would call excuses but to me they were backward and illogical, either way, I was not satisfied and he expected payment for work not done to what he put in writing. Again, how can he 'argue' when he never set foot at the work location during any of the actual work or after completion. These are my experiences and thoughts. I was asked to provide his name to a friend in the area but will not. When working with the government years ago, I would have rated this 'Do not recommend.'.
