Due to their shared name, I've always assumed this shop was the sister store of the large Gunns florist on Sydney St. However, they seem to have separate websites and admittedly the shop facades are pretty different. This Gunns is much smaller than the North Lanes one and has a much more conservative exterior (no painted flowers winding up the building!). So, I think weirdly enough, they are in fact different companies...but why the same name...it's a mystery. If anyone knows, do tell! Regardless, the flowers at little Gunns are just as beautiful. There is nothing boring bout their blooms...the colours are vibrant, the shapes unusual and exotic and the scents divine. As you may have gathered, most of the flowers are not native to these shores- so if you're sick of boring old carnations and roses, you will surely be able to get an original, personalised bouquet at Gunns. Like most good florists, you will pay a pretty penny, but I can promise you will get your money's worth. As well as bouquets they do beautiful arrangements for weddings and funerals.

Located in the heart of the market, you'll find the prices to be considerably lower than bigger florists in the centre of town. Selling a range of flowers and plants (a number of which are home grown on a nearby allotment), you can pick up a host of bargains here. The lady working here was extraordinarily friendly; I went to buy a pot plant, only for here to recommend another one because it would be better provided by the weather.

This shop is pretty sparse, though the flowers they have here are nicely presented and seemingly all the more special, because they stand out more stunningly against the plainness of the shop. When I emailed them photos and spoke to the man on the phone he agreed it was a standard size. however his wife has argued with me , accused me of being malitious and saying I'm desperate for money... the price difference was only £20. I simply wanted what I was charged for she posted my address on Facebook after I left a review so I had no choice to delete it in order to remove her comment. She then trashed my google review saying Facebook removed it because I'm a liar she accused me of sending false photos to her husband to trick him but I sent 5 images with no trickery. Lots of delicate, beautiful single stems...there's no question, this is the place to get a really unique and special bouquet. It may be a little pricier than a bunch of roses from Sainsburys, but who wants to receive flowers with a giant £4.99 emblazoned on the wrapping? Not I. So I urge you, splash out, support your local florist, and get a much more personalised bunch of posies for your mantel!
