I came to Manpower looking for a job. I called and asked if they had any jobs available in the area. The lady on the phone answered in the affirmative and so I penciled in an interview spot.
After a 10 minute interview, I was directed to go online and finish my resume. But I couldn't connect with their website, something to do with the internet in my neck of the woods i guess.
I drove over to a public library and finished my account, I even applied for a local job. However, when I called to ask about the job I was told they would call me back. They never did.
When I called back the next day, I was told my resume hadn't even been received. In fact, my entire account was just not there?
I was also told they had no jobs for me in my area, despite the fact that was the very first thing I asked them about the week before.
Manpower is supposed to be a national or even international job agency, but I think they need to update their infrastructure. Coming in for a 10 minute interview and then repeating it all over again online seems wasteful to me. But the bigger problem was their many computer glitches.
When I offered to email my resume or send them over to LinkedIn.com, they refused. It had to be by their book. But what do you do when you make an account with them, confirm that account and then a few days later it evaporated mysteriously? read more
