All the classrooms have up to date technology and just give you the overall feel that everything is new. When you first walk into the Lasalle portion of the building there is a huge snack table too. I've never seen so many snacks. They work on the honor system for purchasing them so bring cash if you are hungry and be honest! The classrooms even have Skype if you are unable to make it to class and want to see and here it . The University also offers a text message service to your phone in case of any cancellations of classes. I graduated six years ago already and I have to admit this place is pretty nice for it's small size. My one negative is there is only a womens bathroom in the Lasalle portion of the building. The guys have to walk completley out and across the hall. It's not a big deal really just weird actually. If you see some classes here I would highly suggest signing up for them. It's easy to get to and there are plenty of great places to eat at right around the area. Enjoy!

Everyone hates on going to community college coming out of high school, but honestly going to Bucks…read morewas one of the smartest choices I've ever made. Here's why: AFFORDABLE - I paid off each semester easily. If you live in the county, a year of college at Bucks is only going to cost you more or less 4,000 dollars. SAME PREREQS- As long as you do the research to make sure every class you take is transferable, taking your prerequisites here is the same as taking your prerequisites elsewhere. The only difference is about 10-12,000 dollars. Saving that much moolah sounds pretty damn good to me. STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIO - The student to teacher ratio is pretty small. It usually looks something like 19:1, though I'm not exactly sure what the ratio truly is. Individualized attention is not hard to come across. The classes are not insanely large, especially at the Perkasie campus. GREAT PROFESSORS - I've had some of the most awesome and involved professors at Bucks. Randolph Quinby was my favorite...he teaches Humanities courses. Take one of his classes; you won't be disappointed. CLASSES FOR FULL TIME WORKERS - There are tons of options for night classes, online classes, and hybrid classes (half online, half in school) that are designed specifically for hard working people with a busy schedule. Of these three options, I prefer night classes. They are from 6 to 9:30 at night with a break at around 7:30/8. The professors understand a busy schedule and, as long as you put genuine effort into the class, they will understand if something comes up (late night shift at work; kids sick; etc). CUTE CAMPUS - Yes, the Perkasie campus is wimpy wimpy wimpy. But it's just so...CUTE!!! The two buildings are located in a Giant shopping plaza. And I don't mean giant as in the size; I mean it's literally located right next to the supermarket Giant. I like it though; big campuses always intimidated me. There's a cafe called Down to Earth Cafe in the plaza where a lot of students will go before or after class. TRANSFER AGREEMENT PROGRAMS - Many of Pennsylvania's state schools have a transfer agreement program with Bucks. I know from personal experience that Penn State Abington will grant you a 1000 dollar scholarship if you graduate with your associates from Bucks and transfer to their campus. There are a ton more options too. ADVISORS - Let's be honest: advisors want you in and out of the program just as much as you want to be in and out of the program. The advisors will do their job to get you into the classes you need and help you graduate as soon as possible, and advising slots are always open. So I obviously have a slight obsession with this school, but it's only because I'm sick of hearing everyone bash it! Bucks County is an amazing area in the state to live in, and the community school is a good one! (And much better than Montco, I've heard ;]). Definitely don't rule out a community college for the sole reason that it is a community college. It's a great choice in the long run and I promise you won't regret going here!! :) Cheers to Bucks Perkasie. WARNING: The fact that Bucks is a community college does not take away from the difficulty of its astronomy class. IT'S A TRAP! It's not all about pretty stars...it's actually really difficult, and the professor was hardcore!!! There were 11 people in my astronomy class initially, and we ended up with 4 left. I was one of the last ones standing, but I barely passed with a "C." There was another girl who was a straight-A senior at Kutztown University who had been putting off her science credit. She took the same class I did and she barely made it out alive as well. Don't underestimate a community college's courses.

Although, I attended during the raucous football era of Coach Pettine (Sr.) and personally, I really never gave a crap about how our football team was doing. (In case you missed that CB West was State Champion for like, years & years in a row back then.) Whatever. I enjoyed certain things, but really - I am so glad that high school is over and that I never have to do that again. Oh yeah - and to that IDIOT gym teacher who flunked me and threatened to not let me graduate until i could successfully run "the mile" - here's a big"sod-off"! Nobody in Corporate America has EVER asked me to run a mile. Ever. My reunion is coming up this November - and I am prepared to attend looking fresh and FABULOUS. P.S. Pink (Alicia Moore) went here. "Blandness with a side of rude customer service"…read more I'm an upper-middle class businessman who worked in the Doylestown area for the greater part of the year, and have been able to sample most of the noteworthy dining locations in town, excluding of course this particular establishment, it being just beyond the densest part of town. During my lunch hour, I felt it proper to finally give Buck's a chance. The property is quite large with an accommodating parking lot--the lot was quite packed, though luckily I was able to secure a parking space. I went in through front entrance and realized that this is not quite a restaurant in and of itself, but some kind of collective of facilities seemingly not unlike the YMCA. There were a lot of children moving around when I went into the building; it seemed like perhaps a school had brought their children here for a field trip. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to properly enjoy most of the facilities. I was impressed; near the entrance they boast a lecture hall, a set of restrooms neatly tucked away in a crevice, a lounge area, an indoor sports gymnasium, a membership/sign in booth, and what appeared to be a social services office. Beyond that, I noticed sets of public lockers just off the hallway, and series of offices in hallways dissecting the larger "avenues." I made my way to the integrated food establishment, fittingly called "Nourriture pour les Affamés." It featured semi-buffet style get-it-yourself service in an area aside the tables and chairs. I went into the area, picked up a serving tray, and picked out a chicken patty, an apple, and a box of chocolate milk. The cashier was quite rude, claiming that they wouldn't take my Discover card (just what do they think they're selling, drugs?), so I of course had to pay cash. I find myself a seat and began eating. The chicken patty was dry, lacking in any toppings or condiments whatsoever, the apple tasted like wet cardboard, and the milk was in a box. Disgusted, I knocked the remnants of my half-eaten quote unquote "food" onto the floor and attempted to exit the food establishment. Before I could even get close to the exit, a small, leathery woman began berating me about God-knows-what, something about privilege cards and detention and blah blah blah, all the while spewing saliva onto my person. I had no choice but to sit back down and wait for the bell before being allowed to leave.

I graduated in 99, so I was in the era of our sports teams dominating at everything, but as far as I know, the teams are still good, even if they aren't #1. And there is an abundance of non-athletic extracurricular activities. From art, to activism, to music, to politics, and beyond. The student government actually has a big hand in running the school, rather than essentially being elected in name only. And I had very few of those stereotypical "getting through to retirement" bitter teachers. GO KNIGHTS! Uh, duh. Edited to add the best thing of all (and I swear if they don't exist anymore, I'll burn my yearbooks and break ties with NPHS forever). CREAMIES! You have to love a school that offers, almost at the price of a a full lunch, two giant chocolate chip cookies filled with a frosting made simply of shortening and sugar. And I wonder why I'm chubby.

You'd think that 8 years of school with all the same people would be way to much. You'd be right…read more Mostly. One great thing about Masterman is that you are with your fellow students day in and day out. So much that these people become your best friends and some of the friendships you make here will last longer than your can imagine. As a moderately intelligent kid with overambitious parents, I had to take and pass a test in the fourth grade to get into this premier magnet school. While I have no basis of comparison as to the quality of education at Masterman, I do know that attending this school exponentially increases your changes of going to a great IVY league college. About the top 1/3 of students here get accepted into several IVY League colleges. About half of those students go to UPenn (the IVY in your backyard). Masterman prides itself in stating that 100% of its students go to a 4 year college. The reality is that Masterman will force all its students to go to accredited 4 year colleges, whether they wish to or not (a friend who wanted to go abroad was strongly discouraged from this option). I've always thought that a preparation school would be responsible for two things: 1) getting it's kids to good colleges, which Masterman excels at; and 2) preparing the kids for college, which, sadly, Masterman did not do as good of a job at. I'm not sure if it's exactly the classes, the depth of materials taught, or the lack of emphasis on retaining what is learned, but most of my friends and acquaintances felt as I did that Masterman did not prepare them well for college. Then again, it could have been me (how many kids do you know take school seriously?) Part of the problem was the lack of funding. The only things I've dissected before going to college was an amoeba and a worm. When I got to Penn, I found that most of my fellow classmates had already done many of the labs in my basic science classes, while everything was all new to me. I've never seen most of the lab equipment, computers/programs they used at college (we had old microscopes - so I at least knew what that was), and it was mildly embarrassing for me to ask questions that most of my classmates considered to be standard knowledge. Part of it is that the school is so focused on getting everyone into the advanced courses that they sometimes forget to focus enough on the basics. This holds true for the trig through Calc 3 classes but not for algebra and geometry. Mr. Goldman (who taught algebra and geometry in 7th and 8th grade) would test us on both the advanced and basic problems - best math teacher ever. That being said, students who go to Masterman are generally very successful and pursue stable, steady, successful careers. Many have gone into law, medicine, PhD programs doing really interesting things with obscure titles. The only reason I seem critical is due to the fact that I am not sure what a preparatory school is suppose to do. Going to Masterman made it not difficult to get into a great college. However, in terms of basic skills/knowledge, I still get teased by my husband who went to a much lower ranked public school (same area) that had a LOT of funding from property tax dollars and he was able to somehow retain/learn a lot more basic knowledge than I did. He also tutored me in chemistry, back in college (although if anyone's ever had chemistry with Dr. Ranjini, they'd understand my willingness to block that part of my memories).

Recently awarded Blue Ribbon School status, President Obama delivered his annual Back to School Speech to an ecstatic student body on September 14, 2010. Goosebumps! Teachers and administrative staff are top-notch for the most part. The students DO work hard and the Home and School Association works to support academic and extracurricular activities. To my knowledge, there's rarely a discipline problem or any type of bullying. Instead, there's heated classroom discussion and early morning EC activities. Who can complain?
