However, the English teacher Thomas Dignan is probably the worst teacher in that subject ever. My AP kid said they read maybe 2 books ALL YEAR in Dignan's class. Not much college prep! Dignan has learned the art of blabbing without saying anything. And the French teacher Ms. Forberg may be a native speaker, but she doesn't know how to teach. She gave difficult grammar tests without teaching any grammar at all. Her class would kill GPAs for most students. (My kid has a steel trap memory, so he still got As, but no thanks to her.)

This review is related to the Friday night bingo hosted at this school. The lady that runs the…read morebingo is rude and unfair. She frequently yells into the microphone rules that she creates on a whim. When you ask her a question or express concern about the mistreatment of the patrons she is rude and dismissive. The volunteer staff are not trained properly and often skip patrons to service others (their favorites). They limit the number of games you can play/purchase because they lack the supplies to properly service all the patrons. And a fight broke at the start of a game. I've been attending off and on for the past 3 months and I recommend that you do not waste your time, energy, or money at this location. Alot of regulars that I encountered stated that they would not return either because of the mistreatment and inconsistency they encountered. DON'T WASTE YOU TIME OR MONEY!

I was then, and have always been welcome by their cordial secretaries, Mrs. Kubick and Mrs. Rose. I was instantly invited for a school tour and was able to witness first hand many neurons firing among the students. I truly believe this environment to be conducive to high educational level, high spiritual standards, as well as a high sense of commitment to one another. At St. Bruno, the teachers are extremely dedicated to the student growth as a whole. And the rest of the staff enthusiastically participates in their continued asuccess. I was surprised to learn how the eight graders actively interacted with the students in Kindergarden, and how the school dynamics allowed for the school building to feel like a safe and joyful home. I highly believe that the best gift for my children is their education. And, I will do everything in my power for them to get the best! Therefore, as a mother of two now, I highly recommend you this magnificent school!!

I can tell you for sure that I love being greeted by the adorable Sister Consuela every morning. The teachers are, for the most part, young and somewhat hip. One of the teachers in particular, Mr. Benke, is awesome, and I would have LOVED a teacher like him at that age! The curriculum is loosely religious, that is to say, they definitely are a Catholic school, with prayer in the morning, and there are religion classes and chapel, but I don't think non-Catholics would feel particularly ostracized. The girls, for the most part, seem welcoming, but it can also get cliquey (as I imagine any all-girls school would). The school encourages community involvement, and college attendance!!

This school has been around for over 100 years, so you know they have proven themselves...you don't last that long unless you bring results. Academically: the school has loads of AP course offerings, all the STEM subjects one could wish for, and a reputation for getting kids prepared for college...this includes having their own library, auditorium, and computer labs. Athletically: they usually star in baseball, football, and basketball...probably in that order, although it can change from year to year. For example, they won a couple of state championships in wrestling a few years ago, so if you have a son who excels in a particular sport, don't be afraid to bring him here to learn more...he will. In extra-curriculars: they have scores of clubs and activities...some competitive such as chess and scholastic bowl, and some not competitive such as theater...and they also have a renowned band program. Facilities wise: they have a standout football field and practice field (they usually arrange to have the neighboring grammar schools play on their field). They also have their own baseball field, basketball gym, weight room, and swim pool for the swim teams on site. They don't take a second seat in the facilities category. All in all this is a institution on the south side of Chicago.
