Love this Korean place, it is located in the food court of H mart in Catonsville. Prices are relatively low compared to Korean restaurants nearby, but portions are huge, and the quality and the taste of the food are similar or better! Our favorites are: dolsot bibimbap and spicy seafood noodle soup. Some of the stir-fry dishes such as pork with green beans are also very tasty. Located inside the Hmart, this is a convenient food stand, where you order your food at the counter and they call you up to get it when your order is up. I got a jiampong, which is a noodle soup with seafood. It was nice and hot, the broth was a great flavor, but i thought it needed more shrimp, since it only had 1 in the bowl and the noodles were a bit soft for my taste. They also have a variety of other soups, noodle dishes and rice dishes as well as some appetizers. It was a nice tasty, convenient place for dinner that allowed me to get my grocery done right afterwards. read more

Manna Rang is located *inside* H-Mart. They're inside a grocery store, so all the ingredients for their food is really fresh! I highly recommend #51 "bulgogi kimchi" and #17 "Jajangmyeon" (noodles in black bean sauce with pork, DELICIOUS). Certain entrees also come with a bowl of rice and a bowl of miso soup (free refills!). You simply order at the counter, wait for your food to be called, pick it up, eat, go into a food coma, and then return the tray back to the counter. You can also order sushi and other raw/Japanese dishes at the next counter! I enjoy their spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, & sashimi platter. I've never gotten food poisoning from their raw fish. I highly recommend ordering/catering from them for big orders compared to other places. This is great quality sushi/sashimi for a fraction of the cost at a typical Japanese restaurant!! read more

Ordered and waited over a half hour while everyone after me was served who ordered both after me and before, including a separate order by spouse who got it right away. Her food was so fishy we threw it away. Just disgusting. As for me, I asked for a refund and left without anything. This place discriminated against the only white person in the place...obviously. Went elsewhere for better food than this place could dream of serving. Cooks in the back had no hats or hair nets either...health code violation. Won't ever bother going back to this place. The person at the register could not have cared less, and as a result, we'll see how the health department takes this for code violations. read more

Was seriously craving some japchae so that's what I rodered from Manna Rang. We've tried other foods before like their fried pork cutlets and bulgogi and I like that there is always something different I can try. The japchae I ordered came with a bowl miso soup, a bowl of sticky rice (Mmmm....) and a side of kimchi. The japchae came with generous portions of beef and I loved the swoosh you get as you suck in the glass noodles. To try next time: Korean-inspired ramen! We took it back and the lady was very rude saying how the food was prepared the same time as the gim bob that we bought separately. She didn't even say sorry. The entree came with a self-serve bowl for Miso Soup and a small plate of kimchee and spicy pickled radish. As with most food courts, the food came out very quickly. Overall, the meal was meh; I think I can cook shrimp fried rice better at home. After the meal, the biggest regret was that I could have tried Kirkwood Pit Beef which was literally a few blocks away with my $8.50. The remorse settled and I went home. The booth is in the back of H-mart and serves Korean popular dishes, mostly rice-based or noodle-based. Everything is served with their housemade kimchi, which is always super delicious and perfectly ripe. Water is self-serve, or you can buy cans/bottles of your choice. You order at the counter and then they call you to pick up your order and tray when it's ready. I really recommend their bulgogi, galbi-tang, and jjamppong. I'm always really happy with the food, and especially happy because the dining experience is super casual (in the middle of a big Asian grocery store!) and really deliciously made-to-order in a snap. 3/5 for environment. Yes, you're eating in a very tight and crammed space in the back corner of H-Mart. So it smells like the fish in the seafood department next to you, and it's noisy since it's a constantly busy supermarket. But you should know that before you choose to order your food here anyways. But one thing that's frustrating is that it really gets busy during peak lunch hours and especially weekend lunch hours, and the seating area is super limited. Know that you have a place to sit and eat before you order! 4/5 for price. The cost is a tiny bit on the expensive side considering you don't really eat in a restaurant, and you get no banchan, and everything is self-service. But in the grand scheme of things, the pricing is fair. I really recommend the food here but I would recommend getting take-out if you want a better dining environment and experience. This is the most authentic Korean Kim Bap Shop I've been to in the US. I lived in Korea for a year, and one of the things I miss the most are the inexpensive, quick, and delicious ubiquitous corner kitchens. Manna Rang is the closest I've come to finding that style of restaurant. The ladies who work there are extremely friendly and helpful. The signage is colorful and enticing, and appeals to any person who likes to eat with their eyes, regardless of their knowledge of Korean cuisine. The bibim naeng myeun is outstanding, as well as the jjam pong and soondooboo jjiggae. TIP: The trick to having an above-average meal is to order actual Korean dishes, and not the Asia-generic "fried rice" or "saucy chicken" dishes. A lot of the less-than-satisfactory reviews of this place are written by people who ordered Americanized dishes. The portions are gigantic and inexpensive. If you want to try traditional Korean food served in an authentic way without the intimidation or price of a restaurant with table service and a table-center stove top, this is the place to go. This is the food court / walk up counter restaurant that is inside of the H-Mart. All the big Korean grocery stores do this. The giant stores in LA usually have several of these eateries attached to the grocery store, as well as little shops with beauty supplies, cosmetics, etc. They all tend to have a similar menu of Korean staples, so the menu is pretty much what I would expect it to be. Most of these places have decent food, but it's rarely anything worth writing home about. These places are also typically very affordable. Manna Rang is exactly what I would expect it to be. I've eaten here twice with my husband when we've been out late running errands on a weekend. We're usually trying to wrap up groceries for the week and if we run behind, we're still running errands and starving at mid-afternoon. The hubby hates my Hangry Monster so the couple times she showed her face while we were in H-Mart, we stopped shopping to eat here. It's good enough to make the Hangry Monster go away. And restore peace and tranquility to the shopping experience. Other than that, I wouldn't really eat here. But I'm grateful it's here and I'm sure I'll be eating here again at some point. ----------------------------------- Explanation of my rating system - 5*: Epitome of something, the best I've had, would LOVE to go back 4*: Great food and happy to go back regularly, but not the best of the category 3*: Food is fine. I was more impressed with the grocery store than the food court. The customer service at MannaRang Food Court sucks! So I walked up to the food court because I saw they had fresh sushi. I asked the lady at the food court about the options available and she impatiently told me to go to the other side. I can't say that she was rude, but her tone was so harsh it made me almost cringe to find out what was on the other side that she was so brash about. I did go around, and there a man as stiff as balls that stepped out from the other side of the counter. He just stared at me as I waited for my son to catch up to me so he could pick out the sushi he wanted. I almost felt uncomfortable and didn't want to be there, but had already told the kid I'd get him some sushi if he came inside the store. I did smile at the man, but luckily I didn't need to ask him anything because he definitely didn't want to talk, or even smile. I guess smiles aren't really contagious. I'll go back to the grocery store, but I won't go back to the food court. The sushi wasn't that good and the service was just unpleasant. Go with God when you go in here. Just be warned. read more

Food is so-so. Like another Yelper said, I usually order from here out of convenience if I'm shopping late or am too tired. So I'll usually order, do my shopping and then come back to pick up the order. I wouldn't really come here for "exceptional" Korean food. Although I've only found the food to be just all right, I really like their kimchi. Dunno if it's extra anchovy juice or what, but it instantly makes your mouth salivate. Also has lots of chili flakes, and you always get a few chunks of daikon. Service, the little that is required, is definitely not something they're bothered about. There's nothing incompetent about their service, they're just not bothered about any pleasantries whatsoever. Especially if it's the older lady that mans the counter most days, her scowl probably intimidates any shy would-be customers, and she probably comes off as rude even when she isn't actively trying to be. You're better off getting the packaged versions in the supermarket and making it on your own at home. Also we detected a bit of a soapy taste in one of the dishes. Couldn't help but get a bit neurotic about how they are cleaning their wares. While I was there, I noticed other diners were pretty happy with the stews. We also had the kim bap $4 and that was pretty good. So I would stay away from the cold noodle stuff and order the stews. read more

To avoid purchasing everything in HMart, we stopped at Manna. We split a Kimbap and Beef Noodle, which was somewhat like a stir fry noodle dish with woodear and onions. The noodle dish reminded me of Chinese stir fry noodles but had a gravy. Noodles were cooked well, not too gummy but little over al dente. Let me tell you - for $11 the dish was generous in portion size and came with a side of kimchi and miso soup. Kimbap ($5.50) was average. It tasted fresh and as usual I loved the pickled radish that gave the slightly sweet and sour punch to the rice roll. I tend to like my rice softer whereas theirs was firmer, but the taste was on point. Food came out fast (about 10 minutes). This joint is in a tucked corner of HMart with about only 8-10 tables and a high table, so I can see it might be hard to find seating during busy hours. This is one of my favorite places to eat. I always get number 14, but I've had friends get many other dishes and they've all been satisfying. My advice is to stay towards the warmer dishes. Americans tend to not like cold bibimbap or noodles, and their stews are really good. I come here twice a week almost every week, as my college is right around the corner. From Korea with love. The spicy seafood soup (champoong) or just simply #19 and #15 braised beef soup (I can't pronounce the Korean name) are two of Asia's best comfort food. Too bad you can't get them after a night of drunken debauchery; they'd be great after a night of drinking. The servings are quite big, especially #19 the seafood noodle soup. It's quite spicy, but nothing that will burn your mouth, just enough to make you sweat a bit. The beef soup is also hefty, it comes in a stone bowl that keeps it hot. The beef soup has vermicelli (glass noodles) so you may not need the side of rice it comes with. What I do sometimes is put the rice in the soup to make it heartier. After all, rice is almost a sacred dish in some Asian tribal cultures, so don't waste it. Both dishes come with small serving of kimchi. Some people have complained about the service in this tiny "food court" but what they don't realize is that the food is prepared upon order. So be patient, it is worth it! And after you eat, you'll notice that you're not thirsty. That's because the flavor comes from the ingredients, herbs and spices, not salt. It's a more healthful option then. But you know what's a good dessert after all that savory, spicy soupy goodness... ICE CREAM!!! I'm not yet done with my ice cream hopping so those reviews will have to wait. read more
