My husband elected to stay in the car, but after about 10 minutes in the store, I knew that he had to come in and see all of the lovely merchandise that Tammy has displayed! There is a terrific selection of gift items, household decorations, jewelry (I purchased 3 pieces), specialty foods, and much more, all at very reasonable prices. Tammy has been in this business for a long time and it really shows in the detailed selection of her merchandise and also in it's presentation throughout the store. The shop organized by theme and color which made it easier for us to see all that was offered, that would fit perfectly into our new home, Attached to the gift store is a bead shop. I originally stopped here to see if a couple of pieces of costume jewelry (that I had been carrying around in my purse for over a year!), could be repaired. The owner of the bead shop was not available, so Tammy graciously offered to fill in - she fixed my 3 necklaces for me, for free - that's old fashioned, GREAT customer service!!! This is our third trip to Brookings for vacation and I'm only sorry that it was our first time to this store. When we come back next year, rest assured that we will make a special trip to stop by Feather Your Nest - it truly is a "can't miss" shop so be sure to stop by, you won't be disappointed!

We came from Crescent City which is about a 45min drive away and arrived at 4:31pm and she claimed the bead part of the store was closed, that it closed at 4:30pm and claimed she couldn't ring anything up from that part of the store?! We had the pleasure of stopping here on a whim (pun intended). At first, the signpost and name led me to think of a fantasy world Tavern or an Inn for weary travellers. Luckily, it was so much better. It was a fantasy realm unto itself. The owner and proprietor of this amazing establishment was working at the time. He was so kind and helpful, even allowing us to handle some of the more valuable, rare items in his collection. Not only was he courteous and professional, but a true fan of all things nerd. Even answering questions I had about things I've enjoyed for years and never learned myself. To say this man is a Jack-of-all-trades is an understatement. He is an artist, in several senses of the word. Sculpting, Drawing, Crafting, even painting, I wish I had an ounce of the talent this guy has, and to be so humble and kind. Inconceivable! Needless to say it was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I can't wait to return. Sidenote, sadly I did not get to try the cafe he suggested as we had to hurry back for an appointment. I have entered into a verbal agreement with Whimsical Griffin twice now for paint commissions to be completed that I have had to end up retrieving my property incomplete or not touched at all after extended periods of opportunity by the owner Vincent to complete. When shopping for a birthday present for a friend I was told that a game that he had in his store was all that was needed to play. Come to find out, after he made the sale, the game I was sold was an expansion that was for a game that was no longer in print. I then needed to spend $200 in order to get the base game to be able to use the expansion. I find this manner of business misleading and unethical. When people come to spend their hard earned money in a retail store they should be able to expect not to be taken advantage of. As a consumer I get to decide not to conduct further business with this establishment. I should be able to share my experiences without retaliation like the personal demands this owner has placed upon me to remove this accurate account of my experiences under threat of defamation of character.
