I found out about Grane Hospice by sheer luck as I was sitting in the ICU waiting room at Altoona…read moreHospital. One of the ladies in the room said she used them for her sister and highly recommended them. She advised me against using the hospital's hospice. I called Grane the same day and they informed me of next steps to initiate hospice and agreed to meet me the next morning at the hospital. The next morning before we even met -- I called them and said my dad needed to go home today and that I needed 24 hour nurse aide care in addition to hospice. They pulled out all the stops to make that happen pulling in Home Instead to help with the additional care. Every person from Grane was genuine, caring, and went above and beyond for me. Thanks to them I was able to get my Dad home so he could pass away peacefully. I will never ever forget the care they gave on the worst days of my life. Not being from here I was nervous... I am so thankful to the lady in the waiting room for recommending Grane. Special thanks to Tommi, George, Scott, and Terry. You all are amazing.

I needed a bed change and the blue haired nurse said she would be back as she left the room. An hour later my niece came in and I told her that I wasn't being taken care of. She said she passed the blue haired nurse sitting in the nurses station. My niece changed my bed for me. I asked for a new IV bag because it was finished. She said no it's not ordered. Bull! I know I needed lots of fluid since I wasn't allowed to drink. The PA badgered me. Saying that if I didn't get contrast for an CT scan I would have to leave the hospital against medical advice. She said no other hospital would take me without using the contrast. It was elder abuse! Well at 3 AM I was transferred to Latrobe Hospital. I thought I was in heaven. The employees (mostly nurses) were helpful and kind. They took care of me without the bit--ing of the WH. If ever I need an Emergency Room visit it will not be Westmoreland hospital. I'm done with them! Latrobe Hospital is wonderful. The nurses couldn't have been more helpful. They settled my nerves by treating me with respect.
