They mistakenly diagnosed me with anxiety, gave me serotonin syndrome that almost killed me, and refused to prescribe the first line med used to treat serotonin syndrome (valium) because it's addictive. They're currently refusing to send a referral to the Cleveland Clinic because they insist I'm under treatment, but then they refuse to give me an appointment to see a doctor. I do not know what is going on there, but it looks a lot like insurance fraud on an epic scale, to this cranky old bookkeeper.

Also, I am her POA and have HIPAA in place. The ER called a family friend instead of me when she was admitted totally violating the rules. This happened again after a stay in rehab and another emergency admission. In addition, by chance I saw her records from the rehab facility when I had to take my mom for her second vaccine and I found out she was put on an anti-depressant. My mom has been suffering from nausea and vomiting which I now know is a major side effect of this drug. I have been calling the hospital to find out who prescribed this med and have been bounced from medical records, to case managers, an admin for the hospitalists, and I was finally told I have to call Patient Info Management. At this point I am frustrated at the lack of communication and furious because I feel they made an unethical decision without consulting me.

What I do want to touch on, in the COVID era you do need to call from the parking lot to answer a few question prior to entering. Use that as a heads up, it'll save you some time. Check in was pretty swift, they helped quite a bit along the way. The wait was a bit much, but socially distancing in the waiting room was made less irritable by the television. The wait is a bit longer but for good cause. They are making sure that everything is cleaned after each patient. I was seen fairly quickly, suggested that I get an x-ray, which they did onsite. I was given a diagnosis, some guidelines on how to proceed, received some small equipment, and set up a follow up appointment. Everything went as smoothly as it could with all things considered.
