This restaurant was one of the restaurants recommended by a tour guide for Yucatecan food. I walked in without a reservation one late afternoon, and most of the outdoor tables were reserved, so I chose an indoor table instead of the sad table by the kitchen. I ordered a cochinita pibil. It came with tortillas. I don't know how many, but I finished them all. The pork was very tender and delicious on its own, but I liked it better made into a taco with the frijol, onions, and tortillas. My order came out promptly. Service was decent. Looks like a popular place since there was a party of more than 15 people close to my table, and this was around 3:30 pm. Would recommend making a reservation during peak hours. read more

Mi esposa y yo escuchamos por primera vez de Manjar Blanco cuando vimos Las Crónicas del Taco en Netflix. Nos enamoramos de su historia y decidimos que era una parada obligatoria en nuestro viaje a Mérida en 2021. En esa primera visita, todo fue espectacular: el ambiente, el servicio y la comida fueron simplemente increíbles. Desde que llegamos, nos hicieron sentir como en casa. Nuestro mesero fue muy amable y atento, nos explicó con detalle cada platillo y nos hizo disfrutar aún más la experiencia. Probamos desde la Sopa de Lima hasta la Cochinita Pibil, y cerramos con su postre Manjar Blanco. Sin exagerar, fue una de las mejores comidas que hemos tenido en la vida. Lamentablemente, volvimos hace apenas unos días en enero de 2026 y la experiencia fue totalmente diferente. Llegamos alrededor de las 4:00 p.m., sabiendo que cierran a las 6:00, pero pensando que aún habría tiempo suficiente para comer con calma. Sin embargo, tenían cerradas las áreas principales interiores y solo estaban sentando en el patio. Hacía bastante frío, pero aún así estábamos emocionados por revivir esa gran experiencia... y tristemente no fue así. Esta vez, el servicio fue muy frío y poco atento. Nuestro mesero casi no sonreía, no hubo ninguna amabilidad ni conversación, y ni siquiera un "gracias". La comida también dejó mucho que desear: la cochinita pibil de mi esposa llegó fría y demasiado salada, y mi poc chuc estaba frío y duro. Las tortillas llegaron frías y tiesas, pedimos otras y solo estaban tibias, pero igual no eran lo que esperábamos. I really enjoyed eating here! They have beautiful outdoor dining space with lots of trees. Even though it was close to 105F outside under the shade with nice breeze it felt very nice. The servers did not speak much English, but with basic Spanish we were able to order the right entrees. The food was delicious and filling. Whenever I am in Merida I drink lots of agua de Jamaica (hibiscus) or agua de chaya (native green leaf) since both are very hydrating in the heat. This place made agua de chaya really well! Wow! My wife dragged me here because she saw that episode of Taco Cronicles on Netflix. I made assumptions of it being a tourist trap before walking through the door. However, I was clearly mistaken. We ordered 2 entradas: the tacos de cochinita and the tortillitas tropicales, as well as a tamarindo and chaya con limón. Everything was delicious. I've never tasted tortillas (soft corn tacos) quite like this before, and the pork was flavorful but not spicy (we added some of the fresh habanero sauce they served on the side for a nice kick). The tortillitas were a fried platanos maduros mash with some kind of pulled meat. Also delightful! I'm not sure which dish I liked more. There are so many more things I'd like to try on the menu! read more

This restaurant is featured on netflix's taco chronicles. I had to try this place to see what the hype is all about. It is a fairly big restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. I tried their famous cochinita pibil tacos. They did not disappoint, they were so good! The meat was super tender and really flavorful. I also got a horchata as well. It was huge, about 1 liter. The horchata was really delicious as well, the perfect blend of cinnamon/sugar. I will definitely come back to this restaurant to enjoy the food and outdoor patio again. read more

This place is awesome minus the mosquitoes that were enjoying my leg in the courtyard. I didn't try many things as I was solo but the pork tacos was delicious and while not a fan of pickles onions these were not bad. They have a horrible service and manners. We going and it is mostly empty and they have a ton of tables available. I wanted to sit where there was a shade not in the hot sun, they were insisting for us to sit somewhere else under the sun. Even the manager came and said that we can't sit there. I would understand if there was very few places available, what got me the most was the rudeness and the attitude, the manager. I guess they rather lose business. read more

All the reviews are right - the cochinita pibil (slow cooked pulled pork) is the thing to get here. And we've had a few on our travels across Mexico, and this was probably the best. Not outstanding, but definitely one of the best. We went for the taco style, and it comes in 4 big tacos. Two each was more than enough for lunch, especially as they give some tortilla chips as free starters. You can also get it in other styles - like panucho, salbute... read up about them before coming, so you can make the right choice for your palate. Another thing - they have no English menus! So make sure you have data, and Google Translate - you can use the image function to get an instant translation of the menu through your phone screen. They also have a range of other Yucatan specialty dishes, but we didn't try them as we weren't that hungry. But they look good. And we also saw plenty of big Mexican groups dining there, so it isn't just for tourists. Albeit it is definitely more expensive than other places. However, the ambiance is good. There's an air conditioned dining area, perfect to cool down. They also have a lovely outdoor courtyard at the back - but there were loads of bees flying around, as well as probably mosquitos. read more

Came here while on vacation in Merida twice, once for breakfast and once for late lunch/early supper. The location is great with limited parking areas depending on the time of day which you show up but easy walk from various hotels and mid city locations. The food was great and the service was exceptional (as with most restaurants in the area). Breakfast options are good enough to please anyone's bkfst requirements. The thing to eat here though are the tacos of cochinita pibil. I believe they are the best in the city (there are other places in the outskirts of the city which are better but harder to get to). If I had a larger stomach I would eat two to three order of them. Reasonable prices for meals and enough food to satisfy many an appetite. Th restaurant is clean and well decorated with 3 eating areas. Indoors, indoors with AC and outdoor seating which is where we sat for both of our meals. Heck you're in Merida why not enjoy the weather! To repeat, service is phenomenal! Will definitely return to Merida and continue to have this restaurant on our list. read more

Ate breakfast here and had a good experience. Nice plus was they had air conditioning. My wife and I got the 139 peso breakfast special. It included the biggest glass of fresh squeezed orange juice I have gotten in a restaurant. I ordered the huevos montalenos which were good. More of a structured presentation of two eggs rather than one serving mixed on your plate. They were good. My wife got the chilaquiles with chorizo and to her dismay no egg. I give this restaurant a 3 out 5 because about half of the things we ordered were actually tasty. For example, we ordered 4 empanadas (2 of pibil and two of queso) and the only good ones were the pibil ones. The queso had a very weird taste to it. Out of the main dishes (4) I was the only only that liked their food. I ordered the Tortillitas Tropicales, these are sweet plantains balls filled with meat. These were actually pretty good. My friends ordered the queso relleno and this was no bueno. Once again a very weird taste to the cheese. We also got the chinita pibil plate and this was OK. Definitely recommend to everyone visiting Merida! So yes it's seen on Netflix, but not overrun, and was fairly easy to get a table with no/minimal wait on Friday lunch. Prices definitely reflect its Netflix fame, but totally worth it and a steal for those coming from the US. Tacos de cochinita - the thing highlighted on Netflix so you have to get it. super juicy and delicious. Generous amounts of meat. Panuchos - order of 4, you get can 2 pavo and 2 cochinita which was very much appreciated! And wow the pack was definitely the best turkey of my life. I hate turkey just to put it into perspective. And the cochinita panucho was even better than the taco since I'm a sucker for beans. And duh it's fried :P The green habanero salsa is SO GOOD. As is the beans & chips that come on the house. After being evacuated from Playa Del Carmen to Merida we were eager to be explore this city. Found this place for lunch. They strictly followed all Covid safety protocols. The staff were welcoming. Menus weren't available in English and while I could recognize some words I didn't understand most of the menu so I just asked to waiter "Que es tu favorito?" and he brought out a couple amazing dishes and beers. read more

Miriam Peraza welcomed our group with open arms for breakfast on the last day of our trip to the Yucatan. First thing at the table was a smoothie of chaya, to give us the good energy. Panuchos and motulenos arrived shortly thereafter. I have never had huevos motulenos as good as this, and Miriam went the extra mile to give us the background of the dish. Miriam went above and beyond making us a brasso de reina ("arm of the queen,") a giant tamal traditional cooked buried under coal and earth. It was unreal. Chef Rick met with the local press and announced that the next season of Mexico: One Plate at a Time will be focused entirely on the cuisine of the Yucatan, and will begin filming in 2016. I had to read about it on the internet later on: at that moment all I cared about was Chef Miriam's delicious breakfast! read more

Les seré honesto, este lugar es glorificado simplemente por haber salido en Las Crónicas del Taco. Yo fui de desayuno y te cobran por ahí de 30 pesos más por un paquete de desayuno que incluye café, que como saben es común que se incluya en el desayuno de cualquier lugar, y por 6 simples piezas de fruta, 3 de melón y 3 de papaya. Esto me hizo enfurecer ya que yo esperaba más fruta que eso. Pedi unos huevos motuleños y de eso no me quejo, no fue algo fuera de este mundo pero estaban bien. Pero los tacos, sus famosísimos tacos de cochinita estaban extremadamente caros por un solo taco, y tampoco fue algo suficientemente bueno para cambiar mi vida. Algo que me gustó de aquí fue el servicio, los meseros son muy amables y te ofrecen un muy buen servició. Igual, el lugar por si es muy bonito, el patio de está bien cuidado y es un lugar que consideraría agradable. This place is simply amazing! Came here last night thinking they'd be open for dinner but it was closed (8-6 pm daily). Anyway, I did not give up and returned today for lunch and boy, was it a treat! I had the succulent Lomitos de Valladolid and, for postre, the creamy coconut pudding, Manjar Blanco. Yum!!! Extra points for the classically restored interior. This is truly a Mérida gem. Truly Yucatecan food at is best! Small, unassuming, casual restaurant, open only for breakfast and lunch (until 6:00), so don't plan to eat there for dinner; clean, great service and attention to detail. But the best part is the food! We were a family of 10 and we all ordered something different to share and we all were quite amazed at the explosion of flavors using local ingredients. We stumbled on this place just around the corner from where we were staying, and we're so glad we found it. We went for breakfast this morning and will return for our last two days here. The food is unique and delightful in its presentation, with a truly incredible melding of flavors. The flavors are direct, elegant, and very authentically the vision of a single individual who knows what they're doing. We travel to eat and look at art--somehow this place was not on our radar, but should have been. In addition to the incredible food, the art on the walls is by contemporary Merida artist Gabriel Ramirez Aznar: incredible work. How cool to spend time surrounded by his work. Sounds like the art rotates through. The restaurant is top notch for the food, friendly staff, unpretentious and comfortable atmosphere and great prices.
