I love this place. Marlin Azúl is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is outstanding, fresh and flavorful. Every single thing I tasted was delicious. The service is good and very friendly. The first time I went the staff seemed intimidated (probably don't see many gringas) but with a mixture of bad Spanish and sign language I ordered shrimp ceviche...excellent and a generous portion. Blue Marlin (Marlin Azúl) is conveniently located near the main plaza, offering takeout or eat in. The atmosphere is local and spotless. I highly recommend it. read more

First stop every time we come back to town. The seafood ceviche mixto has all the fresh, briny chunks of fish, octopus, and fish you could want, in a lime dressing. It could only be fresher if you were sitting in the boat catching the ingredients. They seem to have all the standard beers, and the service is good. Turnover is rapid! There are two dining rooms: one is open to the street and the other is closed, with aircon. This was hands down my favorite meal in Mexico! Omg I am still dreaming of the the Octopus Tostadas (Tostadas de Pulpo) till this day. For around $4, you get 3 tostadas piled high with the most tender and BUTTERY (yes, buttery!) octopus, cooked rice, avocados, pickled onions, and cilantro. The octopus was cooked to absolute PERFECTION! Not at all chewy or fishy. Very tender, juicy, and so incredibly flavorful. The shrimp fajita was also delicious if you want to go the shrimp route. But please, I beg of you to order the Tostadas de Pulpo. It was a game changer when it comes to octopus for me. Restaurant doesn't have A/C, but cleaner than most. I loved enjoying some delicious seafood here on the first table to people watch and get some cool breeze. Highly recommend this place all around! read more

We had the Fried Octopus and Tostadas de Pulpo in December 2023 and both dishes were absolutely delicious. We also had Blue Marlin and Pastor fish dishes. These were good, but not on par with the octopus dishes. Service was quick and welcoming. There are two dining areas, with and without air conditioning. This was definitely my favorite meal in Merida! We ordered the medium mixed ceviche and the shrimp fajitas. After finishing our second dish, we ended up ordering another medium mixed ceviche because it was just that mouthwateringly delicious. Super fresh fish, octopus and shrimp and rich in flavor to boot! I'm drooling thinking about the shrimp fajitas. I highly recommend it! It was juicy and seasoned really well with sliced onions which left it very saucy. We don't know much Spanish but the guys were super helpful even though there was a language barrier. My boyfriend had the seafood soup which the server recommended and he really enjoyed that too. You can tell the guys working there really had fun and joked around with each other. I would totally come back if I had the chance. Back for another year and had to make this my first stop in Merida and it is even better than I remembered our picks are Appetizer to share while you wait, is the special pulpo tostados, (it is not on menu but on the counter special thingy) and the Fillete de Mojo a Ajo which is a lightly pan seared fish (not battered just a little coated with flour), comes with rice and salad. I have also sent another group of 7 who said they ate in the air conditioned room next door, and they also oooooed and awwwwed over all their dishes. I went to Marlin Azul on a trip to the Yucatan and it was absolutely delicious! It was recommended by a friend who was living in Merida for studies and I am so happy I gave this spot a try. Ok, gimmie a large plate of cerviche mixto, a generous bowl of guacamole and chips. Then bring us a couple of fresh filets of grilled fish with a green garlic sauce. Went to this place bc of the reviews. After dining here, I honestly do not know where the 5 star reviews are coming from. Had the large ceviche mixto. The taste was ok but since i know my ceviche, I did not find any of the seafood in the ceviche fresh. Looked like it had been marinating for a while. As I realized later, their prices are not that much cheaper compared to moderately priced restaurants in Merida. For example, the ceviche at Apoala is of much higher quality for slightly more money and the atmosphere and service is terrific! I also felt taken at Marlin bc she short-changed me with the bill. We've been here for a week and they were one of the first restaurants we visited. But we never went back bc of this. I was not happy with what they did. But we've been back to Apoala twice and will go again today. I would rather pay a little bit more for quality food and service. read more
