    Deep in the cave
    Julie E.

Worth popping in. It's free after all and right across from the Ha'ena Beach parking lot. Easy to access. There's a few rocks jutting out but mostly flat ground. It's dark and shadowy but you can see to walk without flashlights. There are spiders dangling but advise to just not think about it too much lol. We spent the day at the beach and simply walked across the road before leaving. Spent about 5-10 minutes here. Totally could imagine someone making the cave into a home (like my son would LIVE that).

Ok so 5 stars for the cave but have to dock a star for the ridiculous management of parking places that made me wait a long time to park and walk across the street and see the cave. Ensure to be ready for the wait as the beach across from the cave shares the parking and they will ticket you if you illegally park. Some people park a ways away and walk, but it was all packed when we went. It is pretty cool (literally) inside the cave and it is surprising how deep it goes. Worth it if you never been in a cave before or if you are already going to be in that area.

Like many others have mentioned, the cave itself is pretty cool! The location, and the amount of traffic going through that very narrow road, is not very easy to navigate. The small parking lot that is close by is constantly overflowing with people waiting for others to leave just so they can park. Something cool to check out if you're already in the area!

Parking across the street at the Ha'ena Beach Park. Quick 5 minute stop to snap a few pictures. Keep in mind, it's a SMALL dry cave. Lower your expectations...Stop by if you happen to be in the area.

Super cool!! Right across from the beach. Just bring your camera and walk in. It looks daunting and scary but it's quite comfortable inside. I'm clusterphobic and wasn't planning on going in at all but I'm also very curious. Before I know it, I was wayyyy inside!! I've been to the wet caves here as well but this perhaps require the least amount of effort. It's quite dark inside but you can still see. It really isn't that deep or steep. But kind of fun place to stop by!! Love me some rock, cave prettiness!

Pretty cool dry cave and an interesting pit stop to see as you pass by. Not to mention a decent hideout spot if your at Haena Beach across the way and want to hide out from the rain or sun depending.

It's a smaller dry cave, not sure how much to add about this one. It's cool to stop by and take a picture for 1 minute on the way to the coast... It's not so easy to impress a spelunker when a cave to me is miles of underground exploration....

If you're nearby, it's worth checking out. I recommend walking to the very back by yourself without a flashlight - super freaky.

Located directly across Ha'ena Beach Park/Tunnels. Fun to see, easy to access. Parking is very limited.

Maniniholo Dry Cave is located directly across the street from Ha'ena Beach Park. This large opening dry cave can be explored easily and is fun to explore with children. Bring along a flashlight for your cave exploration.

If you are driving along the north side of the island, it's a must stop and super easy visit. Park right across the street and wander in. The cave doesn't really go super far back, but it's a great photo op.

Cool cave across from the beach. I would make sure to do this with a trip to the beach as it's only maybe a 15 minute activity.

Cool if you're up there but parking is a hassle, the beach is not good for kids, and it's a really long drive.

Parking in front of the entrance is extremely limited, and the surrounding residential area doesn't allow non-permitted parking. I ended up dropping off my wife and her friend so they could start the trek while I parked at the nearby golf course, which added about a half-mile walk to the entrance. From the entrance, the hike down to Queen's Bath is about half a mile. It's not too long, but there are a few tricky spots that require some careful footing. It's definitely manageable for most people, including kids, as long as you take your time. Once you arrive, you're rewarded with a beautiful natural tide pool filled with seawater and fish. Some people were even jumping from the surrounding rocks into the water below. The spot was lively, with plenty of tourists and families making the hike down to enjoy the view and the experience. A little extra work to get there, but the payoff is huge. Queen's Bath is a must-see if you're in Princeville.

Her accounts of flash flooding are vivid. She sure is accomplished. Her anecdotes are authentic, sincere, and funny. There isn't all that much walking, and they bring chairs out for people who need to sit. One fellow fell over in the mud (the leg of the stool sank and he toppled over; he was unhurt). There are three parts. First, there is the taro farm. Second, there is the rice mill. Third, there is lunch. The taro farm is a real, multi-generation family enterprise. I don't understand how they make money. It looks as if it is all done by hand. And taro is not a luxury item. You help them gather the eggs of invasive snails. Presumably they have some other task if needed and that doesn't work. The rice mill is fascinating. It's too bad it doesn't work anymore. You look at everything that has ben restored. You also drink fresh coconut milk, extracted right from the gourd in front of you, and you eat tarot snacks they make as you watch. The lunch is excellent. We enjoyed, among us, all of the menu choices. The quantities also are vast. The food truck would be worth visiting on its own, without any of the rest of the activities.

The exuberance this family has in the farming, milling, and agricultural is amazing. We walked out on the taro fields. We were shown the snails that unfortunately are now embedded in the fields and love to eat taro. So many things could have been avoided if man hadn't brought them here. We had no idea there were agriculture thieves who raid groves and fields then sell them underground or on the sides of roads. We were given some samples of food made from the local ingredients. Then we were driven to their delicious Hanalei & Juice food truck for some of the island's best Kahula Pork you'll ever have.

It's worth it for the experience. If you want picturesque Nā Pali Coast views take a boat or air tour. During the hike at about 2/3 into the first 2 mile stretch there's a breathtaking stop of the coastline in one direction and beach in the opposite direction. We just did the 4 mile round trip (beach and back). It's a beautifully rustic secluded beach. Like the hike itself that final stretch to the beach is an effort (a path of many rocks and fast moving stream to cross). You'll get muddy. You'll sweat. At the end you'll be happy you did it. Pack a large (definitely large) bottle of water. A PB&J sandwich and banana holds up well. Start early too. For the 4-mile round trip we took the 9 AM shuttle and were back by 2 PM. For longer hikes, start earlier. You have to book the shuttle in advance. It's surprisingly well organized and so easy. Once we checked in (at Princeville) it was an express 30-minute trip to the park. The return takes you to Hanalei where you'll change shuttles to Princeville--but they knew where we were staying and took us directly there. Everyone is helpful, friendly, and they keep track of you (they don't want to lose anyone). All the effort goes into the hike not the logistics of getting to and from the park, they make it that easy.
