I wasn't sure what kind of restaurant this was when my sister invited me out. The service was great, the waitress worked as a team to make sure every table was taken care of. The place is pretty big with dining in multiple rooms across the restaurant, but in the middle of the restaurant it is the buffet style Chinese food. I'm not a fan of Chinese buffets but this wasn't bad, the food was okay, but the service made up where the food lacked. I'm not sure if I would come back because it was kind of expensive for me. My sister and I went to visit our parents in Windsor Ontario and my mom wanted to try the mandarin restaurant as she has had a good experience in another mandarin restaurant downtown. We had a reservation on Saturday for 12pm and we got seated right away. The place was clean and smelled good. The design was typical Asian but more modern than most buffet places. Upon entering, there were different areas to sit and it was huge inside. There was a sushi spot, Chinese spot, American spot, a nice dessert spread with ice cream and cakes as well. We got their green tea and jasmine tea which was fabulous. We also tried their classic martini and it was nice and strong. When we got seated, we were given warm hand towels which was a nice pleasant surprise and a nice touch. The food was as expected at a buffet but much cleaner and fresher than what I've seen. I did not give this a full 5 stars as the chicken balls were very dry along with anything that was fried and the tiramisu cake was also dry. However the service was absolutely great. read more

May Tinaw was one of the best waitresses I have had at this establishment. She anticipated our needs and was very friendly. The food is always hit or miss, I would like to see more consistency with the quality and taste here. The music isn't too loud but at busy times the tables can be. I am not a fan of buffets, but will occasionally make an exception for Mandarin. Since it is a bit more than what we usually spend on a meal, we tend to go for lunch and it hits the spot. I have been to the location in North London and Windsor and both were very very clean. Service has been very welcoming and friendly. The food is better than the usual buffets. The General Chicken and Kung Pow Chicken were great! The sushi is good. The grilling station had some delicious grilled beef and some grilled pineapple. I could have made my meal solely off those two item. The food is restocked regularly, and there are usually seasonal specials to help keep choices fresh. On this visit, since it was around the holidays there was a turkey being carved and mini turkey pot pies. As with most buffets, there is never a shortage of dessert options. Again since it was around the holidays there was sticky toffee pudding. Crème brulee, rice pudding, cheese cake....all sort of goodies. read more

Finally, a Mandarin Restaurant in Windsor. I had previously lived in London for five years and when I was leaving, there was one in the North end of London opening. It's nice to finally have one in Windsor, as we are usually the last city to get anything new. This location is attached to the Devonshire mall, and has no entrance from within the mall, you have to enter from outside. I went with a friend before we went to a Movie. I had called and made a reservation for 5:00pm. When we got there, not many people were waiting before and we were sat within 5 minutes of our arrival. Our waiter came around with hot towels and asked what we wanted to drink, then said whenever we were ready we could go. The many options this place had was great, especially their sushi selection, because that's my favourite and they even had salmon sashimi. Including my dessert plate, I had about 3 plates worth of food, first being from the sushi and salad bar, the hot bars were next and then finally, the dessert bar. For the price of what I paid, it's not worth coming here all the time, and for the amount of food that I consumed, plus tip. The food was always being restocked, so it was very fresh in my opinion. At the end of our meal, they again give us a warm wet cloth, and bring us our bill, and they do take major credit cards and interac at the table. I'm glad there is finally a Mandarin in Windsor, and that one doesn't have to travel to London to come here, but for the price of the buffet itself, it wouldn't be a place I'd frequent, maybe once in a while with friends. read more

Now I understand why Mandarin is able to open 20+ restaurants in Ontario. Compare to other independent Chinese buffets, Mandarin focuses more on quality of food, staff training and cleanliness. Things that many customers want but few Chinese buffet restaurants can deliver. Mandarin does not compete on prices and varieties. Don't expect an inexpensive meal and 300 different items in the buffet. One thing unique about the experience is hot towel service. In North America , it is something you can only expect at First Class cabin in airlines. I don't understand why no other restaurants are doing that as it is such a comfortable experience. read more

Food is great. Lots of options. This is Our weekend go to place. As usual we came here today with our two kids. We came at 2:30 which is almost closing for lunch. But we still prefer to dine in. So the one of the hostess led us to the table just by the entrance which is really inconvenient for us with the kids and stroller. This spot is not the best, my partner tried to get some food for herself and paid. Only to find out that the place was closed for Management Training. Fair enough but why take her money...simply could've let her know that delivery was not an option instead of basically stealing from her. You took her money and then cancelled the order, I expect a full refund for her for this AND I would hope that she gets her next meal free or at least some kind of compensation for her issues. I love going to buffets and this one was on my bucket list to try. I went to the mall with a friend, and we decided to head in for dinner. The prices are expensive, but extremely worth it. As a kid, my expectations aren't extremely high, as I haven't tried many restaurants, but in all honesty, I loved it. The servers were insanely nice and their hot towels are amazing- I could stay here forever! You could never go hungry here, the variety is huge and the food is exceeded my expectations of what I would usually expect. They also have another great quality- the beverages. Besides the variety, they are amazing! Of course, I can't judge the alcoholic beverages. Lastly, I love how they allow 13 and up in without parents.
