Every moment you spend at this place is a moment you'll never get back. Better off dead! Only redeeming value is the bartender.

They've got bowling lanes, a pool table, some claw machines and vending machines, and next door, the Viking Valhalla restaurant/bar. It's convenient to be able to walk into the bar to order beers and drinks and food and more. The bartender was super nice, as was really everyone we met. Basically, the beer is cheap, the shoes were in decent shape, and the lanes were open. We didn't get any wings this time, but I think that's in the cards next time. The only drawbacks, as I see them: 1. They seem to have a lot of rules. Only our youngest kids could use the bumpers, as they were worried about damage. They also watched us pretty closely to make sure all shoe rules were being followed. Maybe that's just because we were just about the only folks in there. That said, the place is clean and well kept, which I imagine is because they are vigilant. 2. I got a lot of false hope after throwing two strikes right out of the gate. I was looking at the guy's name scrawled on the wall for his 300 game, and dreaming it could be me. Turns out I couldn't even break 150.

The woman at the counter was so friendly and courteous as my granddaughter had to try multiple shoe sizes before finding a good fit. Then she went out of her to check the ingredients in their soft pretzels to verify that my granddaughter was not allergic to any ingredients. Beyond that, when the automated pin setter on our lane got stuck, I asked a staff member if he could fix it. When he said no problem, I also asked if he could show my other granddaughter what was behind the pins, because she had asked me earlier. He said that unfortunately he could not because it's too dangerous when people are bowling. He fixed it and tried to take a behind the scenes video to show my granddaughter, but apologized that it didn't come out. Then a few minutes later he came back with a kind gesture that my granddaughters will always remember. This is beauty of a family-owned, small town business. We're so glad to live here!

No option for a baked potato, and the flavors just weren't there. Presentation was ok, before I set up for photo. I was over it on a few bites. With Lent season, comes Friday fish fry season! Looking for a fish fry around Medina, my family…read moreheard the local bowling alley was serving up a good one, so we decided to give them a try, and overall, it was good! We arrived around 5pm on a Friday to a packed parking lot yet we still were able to find a spot. We walked in and grabbed the first open table, closest to the door. We were not sure if there would be a waiter/waitress or if we had to go up to the main desk/register and place our order, so a few us stayed at the table while the other went up to the register. During this, a waitress came by and apologized for not seeing us as we came in and immediately started to take care of us at the table. After a bit of talking though, the other who went up to the desk told us we had to move to a different table as the one we were sitting at was reserved and that a waitress would be over to take our drink and food orders. Once we got past all of this though, the rest of the evening was smooth sailing. The same waitress came over and immediately took our dinner orders. Our waitress was excellent - friendly, bubbly personality, was able to provide side suggestions, and she did a nice job making sure we were taken care of. I believe her name was Jenna, but not 100% certain, but she was young with dark hair. We sat, chatted, and sipped on a beer, while watching families bowl for maybe 15-20 minutes before our dinners arrived, so not bad of a wait. For dinner, I ordered the fish fry, which comes with a lemon wedge on top and small cup of tartar sauce, with a side of fries, a roll and butter, and coleslaw. The fish fry was excellent - evenly battered, cooked just right, easy enough to cut into with only a fork. The coleslaw was ok but I thought it was a little too fragrant. The letdown of my meal was the fries. They were cooked perfectly fine but they lacked any flavor, you need to make sure you have ketchup, or another side of tartar sauce, to dip them in. What surprised me though were the mashed potatoes. The others I came with ordered their fish fry with the mashed potatoes and I got to try a little, and wow, were they good! Also, for $13, the fish fry dinner is pretty affordable and it was a nice amount of food. I will say I have had better fish fry dinners in terms of the sides that come with the fish fry but I am pretty happy with what we got here. All-in-all, Medina Lanes serves up a good fish fry dinner, not my favorite, but good! You are not coming here for a fancy meal, but you will get small-town vibes, the sights, smells, and sounds of a bowling alley, and fairly friendly staff and affordable eats.
