This review concerns billing for a MRI review call with Dr Norris on June 4, 2025 and subsequent…read moreinteractions with the TOI Business Office. Because travel to simply discuss the results of the MRI would require 100 miles of driving, I was granted a phone visit. In the course of the phone call, no mention of a co-payment ever occurred. From previous experience with other medical providers, it was reasonable for me to assume that TOI would not again bill me to simply provide me with the results of testing that I paid dearly for, but if they did again require a co-payment, they would notify me at the time of service which is customary of all businesses, including those of a medical nature. In December, 2025, I received a surprise letter from a collections agency demanding the past due payment of $40 for the June 4 visit. That letter was the first notification of any kind of an amount due that I had received. I immediately called TOI and was transferred to a representative from the TOI Business Office who falsely claimed that TOI had mailed billing statements in June, July, and August. She told me the dates of the statements and confirmed my address. I questioned why it was that the collections agency could successfully mail a single demand letter and I would receive it, yet three TOI statements somehow got lost in the mail. She insisted that they were mailed. I paid the $40 to the the representative during that phone call and demanded evidence that TOI had mailed statements. Soon, I received three printed statments in a single envelope from the TOI Business Office in Dallas. The representative had simply printed them from her computer, and highlighted the dates on the three printouts as if that was somehow proof that they had actually been mailed. During the call with the representative, she also stated that the statements were available on my patient portal. It then took a call to TOI for me to setup a password for that portal, and I verified that yes, there were PDF copies of statements there. Yet, I had received no notifications by email, text, phone, mail, or otherwise that the payment was due. Who logs onto some patient portal just to check to see if there might be some payment due? That is not how billing has ever worked in the United States, and I have things to do other than recreationally check patient portals for bills. For the poor business practices of TOI, I give them one star. First off, TOI should have discussed any amounts due at the time the medical service was provided way back on June 4th. After failing at that, TOI had endless opportunities to notify me by mail, phone call, text, or email, and I would gladly have paid the amount due. Finally, one would think that a representative from the billing department of the Business Office could be trained to understand that a PDF file viewed on a computer is not evidence that a statement had been mailed. If it had been mailed, I surely would have received at least one of the three allegedly mailed statements, and I would have taken prompt action to pay it, just as I did once I received a demand letter from a collection agency that was truly mailed. If you enjoy being treated as a deadbeat by TOI and a collection agency for not paying bills you weren't notified were due, then ignore my one star review.

I was referred here by my PC after breaking both my ankles. I came as a walk in to their evening…read morewalk in hours. I was lucky to see Dr Eric Anctil who is a premier ankle specialist/surgeon. He performed surgery and managed my recovery. Who knew an ankle is such a remarkable limb chock full of bones, nerves, tendons and muscles? I had the best experience during the entire process ....... He and his entire staff are amazing people who have answers for those of us who have never had any injuries and for those who have endured many. Every case is unique and they have seen it all. Swapping stories in the waiting room with fellow patients, athletes and caregivers is also very interesting! So if you have need of an ankle/foot specialist look no further than Dr Anctil at Tucson Orthopaedic Institute.

I am no longer a patient. The following review is why i changed medical providers…read more....... Attention new patients: when they say you will not be able to see any other doctor than the one you are originally assigned to, they mean NO matter what. This policy is fine, but they don't even cover each other for vacations or other absences! I understand not allowing patients to just see other doctors as a matter of convenience but i am having trouble walking!! My pain is terrible..... I was instructed to go to the ER, which we all know is NOT the answer because I am not dying. That is what an ER is for. Broken, bleeding or dying. An Orthopedic office is for non emergency issues, like this. Here's what happened...... I've been on the cancellation list for a few weeks. I call on occasion to find out if there's been one, just in case. I always ask if it's okay to call back. The staff is super pleasant. But when they told me this morning that my doc is out of town for the next week+, I asked for an exception because I am in genuine and growing pain. I cannot sleep. Which means I'm fatigued. I have multiple sclerosis and that's a life changer for me. I was even OK with continuing to call next week hoping to get a cancellation but knowing that I have no choice but to live like this for the next week+ because of a "rule" is really upsetting. So yes I believe the policy means more to these people than patient care. I'll be changing my orthopedist which is a bummer because I really like Dr Gonsalvez. His first injections worked well. Thing is, my issue came back with a vengeance and in his absence he has no back up. I think I'd rather go to an office where the doctors work together as a team.

Dr Hardy is/was nice to me. Her nurse practitioner was horrid. He did a number of passive…read moreaggressive things to me that I first thought were mistakes. Did not get walker until 5 hours before surgery. Did not send script in for anti biotic for teeth cleaning after surgery. He said how was he to know I was to my teeth cleaned. I had to gag down 4 anti biotic horse pills while laying back in dentist chair. When I asked him for different pain pills he ordered 8(eight) pills one every six hours for 7 days. He said he'd send this script to Costco but after 8 hours found out he sent it to Walgreens. The reason he these things was because I cursed. He said I used profanity. When my knee was killing me I spoke colorfully about the pain. Never directed at anyone!!!! He also said I should have called the office about only getting 8 pills which I did not do because I was embarrassed to be in pain.

Had my right shoulder replaced on 11/27/2018. The results have been far better than I expected…read more Dr. Thompson was very attentive to every detail of what was going on with my shoulder, what my expectations were and there were no complications. His demeanor put me at ease at all times. The follow-up appointments were always through and there was never a feeling that he wanted to rush me out to get the next patient in. He spent just the right amount of time with me; making sure everything was as it should be and I was happy with the results. Top notch!

I'm absolutely thrilled with the improvement to my hand after the work Dr. Thompson did for it!…read more My injury stemmed from a fall nearly fifteen years ago and I'd been to a "handful" (sorry; couldn't resist) of other doctors and had all sorts of scans and treatments including a whole bunch of extremely painful, yet ultimately ineffective, shots. Dr. Thompson essentially took one look at it and knew what the problem was. He gave me a few minimally-invasive things to try for a couple of months (hey, what's a couple of months when you've been suffering for years!?!). Based on the results from those interventions, he was able to confirm the diagnosis and we quickly arranged the surgery. Sure it hurt, but wow, was it worth it! You can barely see the scars and the process overall was remarkably pleasant. Most of the staff have been consistently kind and professional. I'm so grateful for Dr. Thompson and the team at Tucson Shoulder Elbow and Hand! Anybody know a good piano teacher? :-)

Let me say that this man appears to be a UNICORN in the world of medicine. His reading of the MRI, that she got through the other Dr, was in stark contrast to what the other Dr. had said which was, "You need surgery." We are so grateful to have been introduced to him. She will not be having surgery and after asking him about PT, he told her it was not necessary and that she could go out and play tennis (slowly) and just listen to her body. His honesty and candor were so refreshing in the field of medicine. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Shoulder issues started late Friday evening with, of course, no medical help available…read more My shoulder just quit working, with a LOT of pain with which I had to go through the weekend. Tylenol, ice packs, Aspercream - nothing helped. By Monday morning, I had had little sleep for 3 nights with a constant throbbing in my shoulder. I call SW Shoulder Elbow and Hand Center and they were able to get me into a doctor that morning. I saw Dr Sameer Jain at the north Oracle office. He did a bunch of X-rays and discovered that my issue was not as dire as thought. After an injection in my shoulder, he sent me on my way with a follow up in 2 months to ensure the problem had resolved itself. I'm grateful to Dr Jain and the wonderful, thoughtful staff at this facility.
