My son and I go to Malmborgs every spring, the store is great, has a wonderful selection. However, we went last weekend spend a nice sum of money between the 2 of us and stupidly I had bought a kitten that hangs on the side of pot and I guess I left it in the cart by accident. I of course had no intentions of returning flowers so threw the receipt away. Called the store, I could tell them exactly how much I spent, I had used a debit card they could look up but I am apparently NOT in there system so they said I am just out of luck. This is a great place to find rare and high-end annuals and perennials. I like to find special items here for baskets and planters to give my arrangements that special POP! This is an excellent place to find geraniums and they also always have a large variety of petunia colors. In addition, they have a wide variety of Minnesota natives to choose from, and great prices and smaller pot sizes of perennial, so the bang for the buck is exceptional. read more

We bought three Martha Washington geraniums there this spring for $18 apiece. All three received identical treatment: same kind of planter, same kind of soil, same location, and same care. Two did well and one was terrible. Clearly, it had problems from the very start. When I called Malmborg's, I was told that they do not guarantee their plants. When I expressed my disappointment, I was told to bring the plant in, and Kathy would "make it right." She did not. She was resentful and totally disinterested in the problem. She did everything she could to avoid dealing with the issue. When it was clear I was not happy, she begrudgingly "gave" me a $6 geranium to replace the $18 one which was obviously defective. I have bought plants at Malmborg's for many years, but will never shop there again. read more

We were looking for water plants to add to our new pond we put in our backyard. They have them! Make sure to go early in the spring/summer for the best selection. They are a bit on the spendy side for all other annuals/perennials and herbs. Probably because they are family owned? The staff that I encountered weren't that helpful as they seemed so busy refilling the plants that had sold. They seem to always be busy too. When I finally flagged down someone to ask a question... they weren't that helpful and didn't know much about plants. I was surprised by the lack of customer service. All and all... this place has a great selection and I will keep shopping there. They have a really nice sized area with gift ideas and planters if you are looking for something unique. read more

I haven't lived in the area for many years, but have the fondest memories of visiting Malmborgs with my mom. It was at the old location in Brooklyn Center. Everyone knew my mom's name, as she was a regular. I loved looking at all the plants and am a gardener and avid plant collector now. My mom is gone, but thank you for such happy memories there. read more

We called them on phone and we were looking for a perennial mum for a gift for a funeral. We explained to them that we wanted to have something that could be planted and would come up every year. After investigating it, we found out that that's not true. Called them back and they basically just told us you can try it, but it probably won't work. The last flowers we bought there this year didn't seem to be nearly as hardy as they had been in the past years. Probably going to find a new nursery. read more

Get your Annuals here! Always a fabulous selection of beautiful colorful flowers & some low prices for single plants. Big pots get pricier but will last ALL summer so stop complaining! read more

Just brought home my beautiful Winter Tree Top Planter from the class that was held at the Rogers location. Absolutely love it!!! What a great start to a new family tradition. Staff was wonderful. Can't say enough about Van and his humor. Van took us on a tour and showed us the hard work that happens behind the scenes growing their beautiful plants. Was saddened when the Brooklyn Center store closed, but that doesn't stop me from making my trips up to Rogers. The staff is ALWAYS helpful and friendly and the plants are BEAUTIFUL!! read more

Having purchased plants in the past from Malmborg's, I like their selection and feel they are an established business. I purchased plants fall 2017 and those purchased from Malmborg's DID NOT come back our growing season 2018. I followed their planting advice and I have an irrigation system - not sure what else I would have done differently. I called and manager indicated it's because of our "lack of snow cover, cold & rainless spring conditions". I remember plenty of snow to shovel, I irrigate so not rain dependent and May was hot! (90's) - that's a poor warranty/return policy. Plants purchased elsewhere are thriving. So, I will dig up the dead plants purchased at Malmborg's and replace them with plants purchased elsewhere. read more

I wish I could give them no stars. If you value loyalty and honesty, don't shop here. My grandma was a loyal customer, as I bought plants at Malmborg's for decades, and when a recent plant died they told her it didn't fall under their return policy PRINTED ON THE PLANT SHE BOUGHT. Not only that but the manager was rude. Spend your money somewhere with customer service. read more

We went to Malmborgs this weekend to exchange a plant that had died on us, that we purchased last year. When we got there we told them what we were doing, they took the plant from us, threw it away and then told us that because that plant was a warranty return from a previous one they could not give us another one on the warranty. No where on the warranty information that was attached to our receipt did it state that you only were able to get 1 replacement plant. So not only did they throw our plant away, they were short and rude to us about it. I called the corporate offices and they said they would figure out which employee it was, and talk with them but they also said that it was a crazy weekend for them (they told me this about 5 times in the course of being on the phone for them). And that is all they said they would, the policy was what it was (even though it was not written anywhere or told to us before). We even did exactly what was recommended to us last year with the one that was replaced and the replacement one still died on us. My guess is they sold us a BAD plant! But are unwilling to look into that or even consider that. We were not pleased with their customer service at all. And will not be shopping with them again or recommending them to people. 2 years in a row of having a $70 shrub die on you, does not show well for them. Besides their poor customer service. read more
