The hotel is historically interesting beautiful Georgian facade, 3 stories with some interesting Victorian features inside, especially the staircase and skylights. It is directly across the street from the promenade and park and around the corner from a street that contains many upscale shops and also one of The Ivy restaurants. Great location. They have a conservatory in the rear where breakfast is served, plus a really nice outdoor area for when the weather is nice. The breakfast is quite good, not to an extensive offering but they also do breakfast to order with some Greek offerings to give some respite from the usual full British Breakfast stodge. The rooms have been updated some more than others, if I was there again, I would choose a room towards the back, or higher up, since there seems to be quite a few musical events across the street at night. The staff were very helpful and went above and beyond in providing excellent service. I would bet in a few years with increased staffing and resources it will be a fantastic place to stay, I certainly enjoyed my stay.

It is a basic hotel, but its location is right downtown and is very central to most activities. The room provided a comfortable bed, good hanging space and mirrors, a large comfortable bed, TV, but no phones. The Bathroom is large and has a very deep tub/shower. The tub is slippery getting in or out. No wash cloths, and only 1 large bath towel and 1 hand towel for the two of us Free coffee and tea in room as well. The Inn provides a buffet breakfast for extra which we did not try. There are many eating places very close by. We were quite happy with our stay and encountered no problems. Would recommend.

I wasn't quite use to the British toilet and mechanics which was frustrating to me....lol Located downtown near bars, liquors stores, restaurants, shopping centres you name it. The view from my room was just beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend if they are ever visiting Cheltenham. Oh and the dollar store is right across the street if your looking for emergency toiletries.

It is not cheap, but worth the extra if you can afford it. I have marked it as 4* only as there is traffic noise at the front - I stayed during racing when the hotel was full so I couldn't move. Ask for a room at the back, which I had previously, and it rates as 5*. Highly recommended.

As it's on a Friday night (and on until late), overnight accommodation is a must. We have been to a few different serviced apartments in the City which have been great (as we normally travel in quite a large group from Birmingham), but for last Friday's edition there was a small party of three people. We checked the normal booking sites for accommodation choices, but after a little mooch around came across "The Big Sleep Hotel" on one such hotel comparison website. First thing to mention is that the Big Sleep Hotel is co-owned by John Malkovich. Cool huh? Second thing to note is that they have rooms which can fit up to 4 adults for a pretty bargain price (which includes a hot breakfast). The charge for £90 (£96 including secure parking) seemed like a bit of a no-brainer so we booked on the spot. This hotel in the centre of Cheltenham was really easy to find. We punched the direction details into the SatNav and whizzed our way there from Birmingham in around 45 minutes. Upon arrival, we buzzed the carpark to grab a space (the last one available) and mooched into Reception. The parking in this small secured space is "first come, first served", so the earlier you get there the better. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We filled in the check-in details and were given our room key (they asked how many we wanted and we ended up with three). The reception space was bright, colourful and clean and had a small bar and dining area attached to it. The reception and bar are open 24 hours too, perfect for a nightcap if you're that way inclined. We asked if there was any takeaways nearby and was handed a folder with a number of menus from local restaurants. We were even advised we could take plates and cutlery from the dining area. The small touches really did make this place stand out. Our room was fab. 4 Single beds, a couch and table, a shower room (with a sink) and a separate room next door with the toilet in it. Handy, when you have more than one adult wanting to get ready at the same time. There was also a number of mirrors in the room, so not everyone had to crowd around the bathroom. The room had plenty of tea and coffee, a kettle, a hairdryer, a vanity stand and several power-points. Again, the room had everything we needed for an overnight stay but still kept a great sense of minimal, colourful design. The beds could have been comfier, but if you are heading out for a couple of nights they're totally fine. I would thoroughly recommend this chain for a weekend away. There are currently only three locations (Cheltenham, Cardiff and Eastbourne) but I would most certainly use them again.

Some of our party had the roast which did come with roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli, and shared this with us, but I did really want some veg with my steak!). Delicious peppercorn sauce. I also tried the salmon (catch of the day) with salad which was lovely. The pudding was nice (rum and banana bread and butter pudding with rum and raisin ice cream), although not as amazing as I expected. The ice cream didn't much taste of rum. Well priced at £25 per head for four courses, but food wasn't mind blowing. However we all came away satisfied and full. Thank you!

Maybe I was just unlucky - I booked via the internet and got a good rate so possibly got the lowest quality room - but the room was a bit tired looking, as were some of the public areas. I also found most public areas cold. Drinks were very expensive, as was food, but admittedly this was lovely. According to my husband it was far too close to the expensive shops of Montpelier - I however thought the location was excellent!
