Sounded great and the photos looked amazing too. So that was settled. Drove the 35 minutes to get there.. Got seated by one person, drinks were taken by another, someone else took our food order and then another person brought us our drinks. I'm fussy, asked for no ice and they gave me it with ice so asked them to take it out (minor problem really). Then we waited and waited and waited. We watched people that came in after us get their food... 30 minutes, 40 minutes and then finally an hour. I lost my cool. They'd lost out order apparently. You can see we're sat there clearly waiting for something! Why did you not check on us?! I told them we would pay for our drinks (which I don't believe we should have!) and we left. Ended up driving home past Mollies Diner in Faringdon and had a bloody burger (which was tasty, but not what we really wanted). I literally can not recommend this place less! It was a lucky dip that ended in a wonderful meal and a very nice experience thanks to the pub owners. We rocked up around 4pm and were told by a staff member in the parking lot, who kindly offered to take our photo, that they were probably out of roast being it was so late in the day but he would speak to the chef. 20 mins later we had a couple of beverages at a nice table in the lounge overlooking the water and a delicious beef roast dinner with root vegetables, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. We cleaned our plates and followed lunch up with a sweet and tasty slice of homemade carrot cake. It was absolutely fantastic. The staff were ever so friendly and really looked after us. What a great little find and we are so pleased to have stumbled upon it! Now, hours and a couple sofa snoozes later, we are still stuffed!

A comfy bed that I absolutely passed out in every night after my first week on the job; no to mention jet lag from coming in from the west coast US and going out every night pub-dinner-pub with co-workers. Room was perfect. Clean, plenty of room and everything I needed while out of town working. Tried my first English breakfast here and loved it. Had it daily. Fan and Alan and staff were wonderful. Heading here again soon and looking forward to it.

I was having a mooch on Booking.com for a hotel for a weekend break and came across Beaumont House…read more- Cheltenham's 5 star boutique guest house. On arrival I was impressed as the cab pulled up at the front steps of this wonderful house. There is ample car parking here and its FREE for all guests. I was greeted at the door by a lovely member of staff who opened the door to show me in. Once checked in I was given a personal tour of the guest house. 1. The Guest Lounge - beautiful with an honesty bar for you to help yourself to, leave a note of what you have had and pay at check out. *There was a real fire place here which on the night when we came back from dinner it was lit and made the room really cosey and warm :-). 2. The Garden Dining Room was set out ready for breakfast the following morning with a lovely view of the landscaped garden. 3. The conservatory again also over looking the garden there was a drinks machine with complimentary coffee, expresso, capuccino, latte, speciality teas and biscuits. We then went up the stairs to the first floor where she showed me to my room. 4. I had booked the Prestbury Suite - a large double room with ensuite whirlpool bath, overhead shower and bathroom tv. I was like WOW - it was gorgeous. As well as the tea and coffee in the room there were flowers, fresh fruit, luxury chocolates and a mini bar. I loved the large windows of this Georgian house, great to sit and look out on your surroundings. The bed was huge! :-) It was just a 25 minute walk to the grand Montpellier Arcade where there are some gorgeous shops, bars and restaurants. Walk a little further along the promanade to the centre of the town and enjoy. After a relaxing whirlpool bath that evening I had a wonderful nights sleep. Woke up looking forward to breakfast. The superb hospitality of the continued as we were shown to our table looking over the garden. All produce are locally sourced and cooked fresh to order. I had fresh fruit salad and yoghurt from the buffet followed by haddock and poached eggs and it was gorgeous, made a lovely change and set me up for the day. My friend had a full english. Freshly squeezed orange juice was also available, teas & coffees served to your table. Fabulous breakfast. The staff ensured everything was to your satisfaction all the way through. So wonderful to experience! Now I know there were 2 themed rooms here and I was able to have a look in them. Out of Africa and Out of Asia are definately worth booking if you are after a special treat. Building - is old. Cute but old. That could work but it seems it doesn't get the TLC it needs and instead just spotty fixes here and there. Difficult to drag a luggage through and very low ceilings. Definitely not accessible for anyone differently abled. Room - dingy looking and small. Size is fine since I was only in my room evenings and early mornings but I felt uncomfortable getting comfortable because the old carpet, upholstered chairs and questionable blanket made me wonder how clean the room was. A/C - doesn't allow you to adjust it at all. Bed - hard and uncomfortable with flat pillows and no sheets. A comforter only and a dingy throw blanket that I wouldn't touch. Amenities- shampoo and body wash with some bar soap is provided but that's it. No water bottles provided. Tea bags and a kettle but when I went to make a cup of tea and poured the milk packets in I ended up pouring in spoiled milk. So no cup of tea for me. There is a fridge so you can fill it up on your own. Bathroom - tub that didn't drain and backed up during first use; was quite gross. The staff was quick to fix it but due to old plumbing it is still quite slow to drain. Mold In the shower on the wall and some questionable stains on the ceiling (which is quite low and I am only 5'3"). The tub walls are high which is a feat for my short legs to get in and out of and the shower is quite narrow. A cold faucet and a hot faucet in the sink - I get that it has old world charm but it's just not practical anymore. Ground floor room (concerning to me since I'm a single female traveler but I made due) and when i came back to my room after a long day out, the window in the room was left wide open by the cleaning staff. Total safety concern at that point. Secondly, bugs had gotten into the room. I had to deal with a few months and crawly things which made their way in through the open window (with no screen). Food - Breakfast starts at 7. Food is very good but it's a late start for those who may be here for work as I am. And the restaurant closes at 10. I arrived at 10 from the airport and was stuck with no food options other than sandwiches which I couldn't eat due to being celiac. The staff was very helpful in helping me to find a take away place that was still open to deliver and gave me a pot of tea while I waited. I did not get to eat any other meal beside breakfast. The buffet is minimal so make time for the hot breakfast if you want something substantial. Two stars for the location and the lovely staff but I wouldn't stay here again. Really wish I had a portable cup of tea right now...

It is a basic hotel, but its location is right downtown and is very central to most activities. The room provided a comfortable bed, good hanging space and mirrors, a large comfortable bed, TV, but no phones. The Bathroom is large and has a very deep tub/shower. The tub is slippery getting in or out. No wash cloths, and only 1 large bath towel and 1 hand towel for the two of us Free coffee and tea in room as well. The Inn provides a buffet breakfast for extra which we did not try. There are many eating places very close by. We were quite happy with our stay and encountered no problems. Would recommend.

Great way to start the morning The overall layout of the hotel is spacious and airy, almost spa-like. Cons: The only laundry service is per piece. Cost quickly adds up. They offered a little iPod loaded with hotel information and things to see in the area. It's a nice touch, but mine was broken. When I talked to the front desk about it, they said they would fix it but for the 2 weeks I was there, it never improved. This is a little further removed from the downtown area. Add an extra 5 min of walking to get to more of the downtown shops and restaurants.

For 85GBP we got a room with two double beds, two TVs and a sitting room suite! The room also had the other usuals, iron, hair dryer, kettle etc The bathroom was lovely too, bath is big enough for a comfortable soak and the shower had amazing pressure. I would go back here just for the bathroom! Overall the hotel decor was slightly dated and sometimes a little worn and torn in spots. But it was clean. A few things of note though: In the wall at the head of the bed we used there seems to be pipes and these creaked a fair amount. It didn't keep me awake, but I found it very annoying when I was snoozing after I woke up! On Sunday morning at about 1100 there was a knock on the door by two hotel staff members to ask if we were checking out today and if they could take the sitting room chairs. I said yes we were checking out today, but asked wasn't check out not until 1200? I was told that this was fine, that they just wanted to check to see if we were checking out today and so they would know that they could take the chairs later on in the day. Surely they could have checked their own records to find out that we had only booked the room for one night? I just thought this was very odd and wonder was there another reason for their query. Also regarding the carpark, because the website said there was limited free parking, my partner booked a reserved parking space at cost of 12GBP when making the reservation. Afterwards he emailed the hotel to ask if there was any particular parking space he should take when we arrive, but he heard nothing back. So we took the first available space. The receptionist then explained, with an annoyed tone to her voice, that we should have taken the space we were assigned. But she then went onto say that she will release the reserved space we booked and that the space we did take would be free. Not surprisingly the charge of 12GBP for reserving the carpark space was not removed from the bill. Our advice is to not reserve a carpark space and to take a chance on getting a free space.

Last time I stayed here, the bed needed replacing. Breakfast is excellent with locally produced well cooked food. Staff will try and help wherever ppossible and offer knowledgeable information about the local area.
