They both didn't last 24 hours they were so good! Great selection of meat including pre marinated skewers, brats, dogs, etc.. to supply your BBQ and or your freezer. They also have a huge selection of rubs and sauces for that meat! I will definitely be coming back and would recommend you pay them a visit as well. Having some out of town guests, decided to try their meats buying some good looking New York steaks. These steaks were so tender and flavorful that I, the griller, was praised. It is as though you take a step back in time, where customer service mattered and you have a butcher who cares. It doesn't matter if you get a greenhorn meat cutter or the Owner you treated the exact same with respect. They still use the take a number from the roll method. It doesn't matter the day, it doesn't matter how busy they are you are always treated like the only person in the market. Their breakfast sausage loose or in links is fantastic. I haven't found a better flavored sausage anywhere. Any of their smoked meats are to write home about. We like their soaked beef short ribs. Have your grill HOT and be ready to grill with those ribs. Their habanero BBQ sauce is delicious spicy good. If It's meats you want! it is meats Gartners delivers. I could go through each item in the cases from the ham to the brisket and tell you why each thing is better than the next!! I recently started vising a meat store by my work. I got some sausages. When I got home there was a pube in the package. In 30+ years of getting my meat at gartners I've never had anything extra wrapped with my meat. We recently purchased a smoker and were so excited to smoke some meat on the upcoming weekend. We decided on buying meat from a butcher to smoke. Looked up nearby places on the internet, and the only one open near us was Top Choice Meats. They received great reviews, so we decided to give them a shot. They're located in a strip mall with plenty of parking available. We were greeted as we walked in (always a good sign). The inside was very clean and organized. The young lady who helped us was super helpful and knowledgeable with all questions asked. We decided on a brisket, but the one in the case was around 8 lbs, which was way too big for just the two of us. She offered to cut it in half. Perfect! We got home, made a rub, and smoked it for about 4 hrs on 250°. Once the internal temperature reached 195°, we removed it to let it rest for about an hour. We sliced it and wow, oh wow, it was outstanding! The flavor of the meat was amazing. We were very happy with our first smoke. Since our first visit was great, we came back this weekend for steak and brats! We would definitely recommend this butcher. We look forward to trying more cuts of meat in the future.

The inside of the store is divided into two main sections: the market, and the carniceria. An entire wall of the market is a fresh bakery section. They had all kinds of pan dulce, cream horns, and Mexican pastries. Near the front of the store were candies and cakes including several flavors of fresh tres leches cake. This store smells so good inside. Even the meat section smells good. This was a major relief since the two stores I'd stopped by before this both smelled like mold. As soon as I saw how long the line was on the carniceria side, without having any idea what they were actually selling over there, I decided to get in line. I figured that if this many people were willing to stand in line for it, then it must be worth standing in line for. The line moved surprisingly quick. Once I got to the front, I got shy about speaking Spanish. I asked for two tamales. "De cual?" "Umm.. what kind do you have?" "Que dijo?" She stared at me like she knew I speak Spanish. (How did she know?) I ordered one chicken tamale and one corn tamale. I wanted some of the barbecue chicken, but there was no menu, and I had no idea how to order it. I grabbed a few mangoes for 79 cents, then fresh limes and cilantro, a pack of street size corn tortillas, then quickly realized I needed a cart! With cart in tow, I headed back to the deli counter where they have lots of marinated meat, cotja cheese, shrimp, huge trays of chicharron, roasted quarter, half and full chickens, three different kinds of tamales, and carnitas. When ordering a pound of carnitas, which will make our taco dinner so much easier since they did the work, the young man behind the counter even asked if I wanted to include the fat. While many of the local farm workers favor those sections, I opted to go without it, and I was very appreciative that he accommodated. I'm so glad a friend turned me onto Mercado Guadalajara. Our dinner was fabulous and I'm already looking forward to more carnitas, tamales and roasted chicken.
