I meant to do a check-in while I was here and completely forgot. So here is my review! We've gotten meat here for as long as I can remember. The owner himself treats you like family and that's how you know it's GREAT service! The staff is never rotating so they remember you by name. I don't know about you but I really appreciate it when staff recognizes your repeat service towards a business. They're super helpful and get you in and out within a short time. The meat is fantastic! From steaks to sausages and anything you can think of. They do it all. We always have family grill nights and this is the only place we go to for meat. Pricing is more than reasonable especially since it's fresh. I've been to other butcher places and it doesn't compare. I will continue to bring my business to this place and will recommend my meat-lover yelp friends to check it out! read more

Stopped in for some New York Strips! Amazing selection ended up with some side dishes and brats!! All yummy

Paid a large deposit a year ahead to reserve spot. Communicated months ahead that we would not have the amount of steers-said no problem we will work it out. Couldn't butcher in July because they were so busy-took steers in September when he could fit us in. We ended up losing our full deposit which he never communicated to us. What should have been a wash with our large deposit ended up costing us double. No response to my email. Very disappointed that USDA would approve of these business practices. Shameful!! read more

We had a cow processed here. I am really dissappointed in the burger meat. Every other bite has some sort of gristle, rubbery chunks, cartilage, not meat material. Any recipe I make with it is hard to eat. Very frustrating to spend hundreds of dollars on meat that is not very edible. Steaks are delicious and the flavor is good but the quality of the burger is awful. read more

I just used buxton for my Elk butchering. I brought them the gutted, skinned and decapitated 305 lb carcass. They charged me $50 for extra cleaning, just under $200 for processing and around a $100 for 30lbs of sausage. So far I've been happy with the product and service. I've recovered about 150lbs back of packaged meat. This is my second experience butchering an animal, so hopefully that's normal. The elk weighed roughly 450lbs when taken in the field. I've read that you get roughly 43% back from a cow. I got roughly 33 % from my Elk. I assume that's normal? They let us know when it was ready, and it was cleanly packaged and labelled well. I plan to continue going their with my hunting game. All in all I felt it was good service, timely, fair prices and friendly. read more

So, we raised a steer of our own and were looking for a place to have him slaughtered as he was too big to do it ourselves.We found Buxton's, which was reasonably priced and offered pick up and kill services for a relatively low fee. Arranged the pickup of our steer a week prior. Was told that they would contact me the following week to get my address and arrange a time that they'd pick him up. Thursday- no call. I called them and was assured a call back that evening. No call. Called Friday morning and was told the owner would be there between 9 and 10 am, but that probably would be closer to noon because he's "forgetful". Lo and behold, about 3pm they come and pick up my steer. They show up in a huge empty livestock trailer and toss my little steer in it. I asked them if he might get injured, and they replied "don't worry, it'll only hurt for a minute" and sped off. Beef takes 2-3 weeks to hang before it can be cut and wrapped. In that period, we spoke to several Sandy residents who told us "Everyone knows not to use Buxtons. They say they don't get their own meat back when they pick it up". I asked, "What do you mean? That they get less meat?" "No, just that it isn't THEIR meat." I wrote this off as a little crazy. We went to pick up our meat today, and lo and behold there is a package labeled "Beef Tongue". Now, when they slaughtered our steer, we asked for the head back so we could mount the skull, and we showed up right after they'd killed him. They handed us the head right there and then, tongue and all. So, I know where my steer's tongue is. It's sitting in my pasture, still attached to the head, waiting for the flesh eating bugs to get it clean so we can mount it on the wall. This tongue that I got from them? Well, I don't know. It is not MY tongue, and therefore that calls into question the rest of the meat that I got from them. Whose meat is it? Where did it come from? I don't know, but I do know I won't be using them again. read more

We took in 7 goats to get processed. I spoke with them on the phone, verified I'd need USDA processing and that it would cost $60/head to do it. Imagine my suprise when I picked them up and found an additional $45/head added on for "kill" fee. No where in the site does it mention this, although it clearly states processing fee's. No one mentioned this when I spoke with them on the phone either. When I asked the guy about this when I picked them up, and said there wasn't anything on their site about the additional charge, ....oh. I've been getting process in total for $50/head, and went to Buxton's because its 30 miles closer...........that 30 miles cost me $315 extra. Guess things need to be in writing before you leave your stuff or you may have a BIG suprise. read more

The meat from the market here is SO MUCH BETTER than Fred Meyer butchers. I also am upset over Sally D review claiming they were shut down. I believe this is totally false. Funny how all other reviews are 5 stars except for the vegan protester. What evidence do you have to support this claim Sally D? Poor service, inaccurate labeling, missing items that were paid for, an argumentative receptionist, and an owner that actually handed me a check to try to placate me. I raise pork professionally and am well aware of how the meat/game processing industry works and to be frank, I have never encountered one as shady as this. Billing on hot weight instead of hanging weight and calling it hanging. Billing for items that the customer wanted only to find out that they threw out (head, skin, trotters) but did not fix the overcharge or even apologize to the customer for not including something they wanted, ordered and paid for. I ordered some link sausage, got packages marked link sausage, and opened it to find bulk ground sausage. I also inquired about the missing heads and was told they were too damaged by the killing shotgun blast. Um.... this is how brain tissue ends up on meat and contaminates it with prions (think mad cow, Crutzfeld-Jacob disease) which is not usda standard. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

Absolutely shocked and disappointed in the service at Buxton Meats in Sandy, Oregon. Two months ago we bought two whole pigs. The bacon and sausage did not taste good at all. We called several times to try to talk to them. A month ago we took a sample of the bacon to them to try. We didn't hear back. Today we stopped by the shop to talk to them and Olga was extremely rude. This has been a horrible experience. We tried to do the right thing buying local, but I will never make this expensive mistake again! read more
